Draph was in Istory

Draph was the crossover of Slow Burn 706. He was the character on the cover of the istory. He is legitmate and should be put in the main namespace. Moreover, he was listed as a wanted character.

WTF?

Am I the only one who finds this character to be (putting it politely) out of place? Not to discredit the creator, but the iStory writers really should not have put this character into the story. -- Psilaq R.- \m/ -_- \m/- 17:50, 4 November 2009 (EST)

I don't get it

If there's already a mimic in the carnival, why would Samuel want Peter or Sylar? AltesUTC CH

  • Draph isn't from the carnival. Or is he? I don't follow the iStories, all I know about them is what I see in the articles here. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 12:13, 5 November 2009 (EST)
    • Oops, my bad, he really isn't... But he's friends with Josh Davis and Chris Bowman, he's pretty close to being noticed by Samuel and then recruited. AltesUTC CH

Gammar

As you all know gammar is not my strong point and that I write that most of you feel is not needed but shouldn't a serial comma should go in after ability, as it is talking about two abilities, rather than Claircognizance being a power mimicry. "Senna then realized that he knew claircognizance was his ability, and that he had inherited some sort of power mimicry."[50000JH 16:06, 6 November 2009 (EST)]

  • I don't believe a comma is necessary there.

Claircognizance and "the power mimicry" are 2 different abilities.[50000JH 15:58, 7 November 2009 (EST)]

Canonicity versus Fan Creation

I think that we need to make a point of only including information relayed as part of the iStory as being canon (particularly because any aspect of the Heroes: Survival site can be changed at any time). Only the information presented by the writers themselves is technically canon. --Ricard Desi (t,c) 23:09, 8 November 2009 (EST)

  • Totally agree. daevon 23:25, 8 November 2009 (EST)
    • The head honcho, RGS, has been to the Draph page, at least a few times, and everything that is there is alright to be there. Draphoenix 11:41, 9 November 2009 (EST)
      • Just to clarify, Ryan is an administrator. The head honcho here is Admin. :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 12:21, 9 November 2009 (EST)

Sketches

Aren't the "elements" that classify Draph's abilities a little sketchy? Air is defined as "invisible interactions with matter and things". The issue I have with this (besides "things" being essentially a less scientific word for "matter") is that telekinesis is placed under it, but it could also arguably be placed under fire, which is defined as "energy manipulation/generation". Telekinesis cannot be seen (thus being invisible), making it air, but also generates kinetic energy outside of the body, making it fire. Water is defined as "enhancing the innate capabilities of one's brain", but to me, water is well.... water. Phoenix mimicry makes sense under fire and it's a slight strech to put telekinesis under air (for the aforementioned reasons and others), telepathy makes little sense being placed under water. Also, the page mentions that his abilities are in accordance with classical elements, but I've never heard of the "void" element. I know the character is permanent but is it possible to redefine the elements we have for his powers?

Also, as a note to the user that created Draph, I have no issue with the character himself, I don't really have an issue with his abilities either, it's just the way the origins and details of his abilities are explained that gets to me. The whole "he has claircognizance but also ability replication that's really not ability replication but something else closely related because of an emotional connection with his unborn fetal twin as well as having six different names" sounds a little ridiculous if read aloud.--PJDEP 02:31, 22 November 2009 (EST)

  • I appreciate your comments. The reason 'ability replication' is elementally based is because every show I have ever been into has had elements attributed to them. Yu-gi-oh, Naruto, Pokemon, etc. (even captain planet!) So I have always have been conscience to some sort of elemental structure. The reason they are as they are is because of mohinder's theory that abilities have elemental attributes. But in most elemental philosophies there are five, air, earth, fire, water, and some sort of void, lightning, etc. Draphoenix 00:50, 23 November 2009 (EST)
    • Also, dont view it as "he has claircognizance but also ability replication that's really not ability replication but something else closely related because of an emotional connection with his unborn fetal twin as well as having six different names" but rather as "he has claircognizance but acquired a form of ability replication through empathy"Draphoenix 00:52, 23 November 2009 (EST)
    • It's worst. You mean he has an empathic way to absorb powers AND a touching way ? Moreover, you can't just state your elemental limit while it has been mentionned once on the show but never went there. What's the element for Super Speed, the element of lie detection etc... ? For ability replication then ? And how many abilities can he absorb by empathy ? And excuse me but I personally have a problem with a fetus able to empathize. But that's OK. You know Sylar can absorb power by accessing his own empathy, thus without touching, removing their brain, nor understanding their abilities (that's why he doesn't master completely the powers he takes in an empathic way, as demonstrated with Elle and shapeshifting), so linking Draph's mimicry to ability replication just because it's touch based, despite he can acquire empathicly some abilities and have limitation that the show never implied, and will never have for that said power, is kinda weird, in my opinion.--Kleith 07:43, 23 November 2009 (EST)
      • Kleith, you sound unnecessarily antagonistic and argumentative. The character Draph is in a somewhat unique position because though his character was only seen for a relatively small amount of time in the iStory, he has a very "large" and complex power. We only saw a bit of what he can do. The Heroes: Survival profile off of which Draph was based gives a lot more details on what Draph can do. However, I don't expect the character or the ability to bee 100% fully defined. Whatever information Draphoenix is able to provide is much appreciated. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:05, 23 November 2009 (EST)
        • Thank you RGS. The best way to think of Draph is along similar lines like Sylar. Claricognizance is simialr to Intuitive Aptituide, the ability to know versus understand. As for him getting a form of Ability replication, it was through a special bond the twins would have had. Empathy is used to best describe the relationship. Draph's absorbion of other powers is limited to ability replication. He is not like sylar in the fact he can absorb more powers without killing, with Sylar, or touching, as in Draph. Draph cannot form that special bond that he would have had with his twin to anyone else. The elemental theory has been discussed in other forms as well. Activating evolution had its own set of five categories of power.
Super Speed, since it deals with the body would be earth. Lie detection would be either water or void. It depends on how it is conducted. If it origonates in the brain, then it would be water. if not, it would be void. Draphoenix 11:20, 23 November 2009 (EST)

Mary Sue?

Draphoneix, would you say your character is a bit of a mary sue? If not, why do you think so? Do you think Draph would fit in on the show? I'm curious about your character, and would like to know some of your opinions on him. --Piemanmoo 23:26, 25 November 2009 (EST)
