Paintings from Heroes 360

So ... do we include the new paintings from the Linderman Archives on Isaac's paintings and Prophecy or not? I think they'd be fine to include as long as we are clear that they come from the ARG, and not the show. Maybe they could even have their own separate section and gallery, under Notes, to distinguish them. We haven't really talked about whether or not Heroes 360 material should be considered canon or not, but we've been putting most of it in Notes for now (insert usual statement about NBC.com's persistent dumb errors here).--Hardvice (talk) 18:37, 24 February 2007 (EST)

We could do something similar to what was done to the images from 9th Wonders. -Zeckalpha 18:48, 24 February 2007 (EST)
My first reaction was to take them out of "Isaac's paintings" ... but since some are definitely by Tim Sale (and they all appear to be by Tim Sale), I'd say it's safe to include them in the category, canon be damned. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:12, 26 February 2007 (EST)

Isaac's paintings back at his apartment

  • Hmmm. So Isaac didn't manage to sneak out of PPC with all of his paintings. He didn't have them when he met up with Hiro and Ando. But now he's got them, he's been through rehab, and he "doesn't remember" a lot of the last few weeks. Gee, I wonder what happened to him...--Hardvice (talk) 01:22, 24 January 2007 (EST)

Painting victim/fan theory

I'm going to throw a theory out there before I change anything, but... the text on this page for "painting claire murdered" states that the victim is Claire, but is it possible that it could actually depict Jackie? Or is there something from other episodes I'm not remembering? (A dead blonde cheerleader killed with Sylar's M.O., and that fits Jackie as well... I'm trying to suss out how time travel/prognostication works on Heroes, so I'm being a bit anal and considering the idea that Peter might not have changed anything at all.) --Drl909 05:52, 21 November 2006 (EST)

  • The page needs to be updated... the theory was that the painting depicted Claire, but we now know it depicts Jackie. I'm noticing that the writing on Heroes really isn't that complex -- every other painting in the "set" has come true, so the writers probably intended the painting to be of Jackie. For now, we should change the captions. --Orne 09:05, 21 November 2006 (EST)

Painting Prophecy vs. Realization

I would love to show a T-chart (a 2-column table, for those of you who aren't elementary school teachers) of Isaac's paintings and a picture of the scene in which it was realized. For instance, something like this:

Isaac's Painting Realization

It's rough, but you get the point ... So my questions: Any thoughts on how to best present this? Any ideas where a table like this should go? - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:31, 1 December 2006 (EST)

  • Probably in place of the gallery. Even if we thumbnail them, the page will be huge, but it will be awesome looking.--Hardvice (talk) 22:51, 1 December 2006 (EST)
    • I agree, it'd be cool-looking, but I'd hate to get rid of the gallery ... no easy way to do it, right? ... How do I make all the pics the same size? Do I do 300px or something? (Sorry, feeble brain here!) - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:01, 2 December 2006 (EST)
      • Therein lies the problem. You can specify a maximum width and height, but outside of a gallery, it's really hard to get them all the same size. But a gallery is hardcoded to be 4 images wide. The other problem with specifying a width is you have to keep it low or the page will render badly at low res ... thumb takes care of that by obeying a user's preference, but thumb only cares about width. If you don't want to replace the gallery, I'd suggest a separate page, but I have no idea what to call it. Isaac's predictions?--Hardvice (talk) 02:04, 2 December 2006 (EST)
      • The other (somewhat yucky) possibility is to create separate versions of all the images that are resized/cropped to match. That would look the best and give you the best control. Lots of work, though, and lots of more-or-less redundant images.--Hardvice (talk) 02:06, 2 December 2006 (EST)
        • Thanks for your advice/expertise, Dave - you're a huge help. Yeah, I was thinking the same thing about d/l-ing the pictures, resizing/cropping them manually, and then uploading them. It looks like about a dozen pictures altogether (unless Isaac disrupts my life by painting more). I wouldn't mind terribly doing that next week. (Hey, good project for the break, right?). As for another page? Sure, I don't think it hurts. It's maybe a little redundant ... I wonder if the topic of prophecy fulfillment will be explored more in the series, especially in lieu of 6MA's infant theory that events cannont be changed. Who knows? ... Anyway, no conclusive decisions - just much verbosity and logorrhoea. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:28, 2 December 2006 (EST)

New Gallery

Okay, I updated the gallery to show Isaac's prophecies being fulfilled. I think it's a cool concept, even though the gallery looks a little rough right now. Many of the pictures needed to be reformatted/resized so they look pretty. I tried to keep as much of the original text as possible. We need some images that I know are out there, if someone could be kind enough as to grab some of the following screen caps:

  • Peter Petrelli and Simone Deveaux share a kiss in the rain.
  • On Homecoming night, Sylar chases Claire through her high school halls.
  • Audrey stands in front of a car that is destroyed by Ted as he escapes from FBI custody.
  • Peter lays motionless on the ground after his encounter with Sylar.

And if anybody can find these, too:

  • The suicide bombing in Israel
  • Zach and Claire walking in the halls
  • A better pic of Claire looking frightened

Another issue: some of Isaac's paintings won't be "fulfilled" (some of the symbol paintings, the sketch of the yellow pom pom girl, the unfinished menacing shadow pic, the assembled paintings). Should these go in a gallery, and call the new table "Prophecies/Fullfillments" or something? And finally, is this the best order for the paintings/pictures? I simply kept them in the same order the gallery had. They seem to be somewhat chronological, but not entirely. Any thoughts? - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:19, 2 December 2006 (EST)

  • I can grab the screencaps, but if we're going to resize the images to make things match up, we should definitely do a separate page. I think we should keep the gallery showing all the full-res pictures, so people can follow the links to the fullsize versions, and then the prophecy page can use the cropped versions. They can link to one another, and that way we can exclude paintings we either haven't seen fulfilled or are unlikely to see fulfilled (like the symbol paintings) from the prophecy page.--Hardvice (talk) 02:43, 2 December 2006 (EST)
    • Great! I hadn't thought of losing the full-version pics, so you're absolutely right about having a new page. Plus, his paintings are one thing, the idea of prophecy or predicting the future is another. Related, but different (like my dad and me) ... And yes, that givs us more flexibility with the layout and content. Fantastic. Thanks so much - your advice and help are always appreciated, Dave. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:53, 2 December 2006 (EST)
      • Okay, they're up. I rather arbitrarily chose 300x200 pixels. I stuck 'em all in a new category, Category:Isaac's paintings, for simplicity's sake. We should move the others in with 'em. Even at 300px wide, we should probably thumbnail them so users at really low screen res can still make them fit.--Hardvice (talk) 03:45, 2 December 2006 (EST)

Isaac's first painting

Should we also add a shot of Isaac's first painting (that we know of) that foretells the future? The one he drew in the graphic novel Isaac's First Time showing the woman getting hit by a bus. If so, anyone got a shot of it? (Admin 13:50, 11 December 2006 (EST))

  • It's the image for the Graphic Novel (more or less). I'll get a clearer one for Isaac's paintings, as well as shots sized for Prophecy.--Hardvice (talk) 14:02, 11 December 2006 (EST)
    • Excellent, thanks. We're getting a lot of hits on the paintings and prophecies pages today and I noticed it came up on the 9th Wonders message board that we were missing it. (Admin 14:04, 11 December 2006 (EST))
      • Thanks Hardvice & Admin... I want to scour the graphic novels for pics that show examples of power usage, and then include them on each power page's gallery. Isaac's first painting is a big one, of course. I'm not too worried about the size for any of the pics, except for that one, simply because all the prophecy images are specified, and I'm not too adept at sizing. Thanks for grabbing that one for me! - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:28, 11 December 2006 (EST)
        • The more paintings the better. How about this one from Fallout? --Joshtek 10:07, 6 January 2007 (EST)
          • Good find! I think this pic would be best on Hiro and the Dinosaur since the finished pic is already in the gallery. I'll upload it soon. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:49, 6 January 2007 (EST)
            • I could be wrong, but as far as I can tell it actually cuts too soon for you to see the sketch version in the episode. --Joshtek 11:00, 6 January 2007 (EST)

White Space

There is so much white space on this page. Is there a way to fix it without having the gallery run into the side bar? Ideas? - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:03, 9 January 2007 (EST)

  • We could move the sections after the gallery up ahead of it. It's non-standard, but it would help a lot.--Hardvice (talk) 04:28, 9 January 2007 (EST)
    • Yeah, let's try that. I don't know exactly how to do that, um, so if, um, somebody could, you know, um, take care of that for me, um, thanks! :) - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 06:20, 9 January 2007 (EST)
      • Good move on bringing the "See Also" section up - hadn't thought of that. - Stupid me. I totally misunderstood Hardvice's original comment. Yes, I know how to move a section. And yes, my brain is that pitiful. :) RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:34, 9 January 2007 (EST)
        • I figured that  :) Actually, I just did some testing. If you use the __TOC__ keyword to explicitly trigger a Table of Contents, it will force the TOC to appear wherever you put that keyword in the article -AND- it does not do a <br clear=all> in front of it. It removes some of the whitespace issue, but there's still a lot of empty page to me. If you're ok with it, maybe we can leave the See Also section where it is. --Orne 13:58, 9 January 2007 (EST)

Dead Isaac Series

So Tim Sale posted his paintings on comicworldnews, but they're black and white. I didn't upload them over the screenshots because I like the colors. Puts us in kind of a pickle. Do we include the B&Ws on this gallery, upload them over the color versions, or include them on the forthcoming Dead Isaac Series? Personally, I'd like to keep the gallery as is (unless Tim posts more, of course), and include the B&W versions on the new page. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:17, 6 March 2007 (EST)

  • I agree completely. Unfortunately, while Tim's work is usually better than it's shown on screen, the article is for "Isaac's paintings", so we're stuck with what airs. PS: Did you notice how the seams between the mats on which the explosion is printed were totally visible this ep? Ugh.--Hardvice (talk) 22:28, 6 March 2007 (EST)
    • I thought the same thing. I mean, the painting was made for the floor mats, what were they thinking? Even in the continuity of the show, the painting is on his floor -- did he do a second version and sell it to Linderman? Come on. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:22, 7 March 2007 (EST)

Future Symbol Paintings

Is there any evidence that Isaac actually painted these? I know this is speculation, but from what was observed by Hiro, Isaac's abilities were stolen by Sylar. Peter doesn't know how to paint, but he had the ability to finish the painting with Jackie dead.

So take it for what it's worth. I dunno if we should remove them from the gallery since they're not mentioned in the article. --Baldbobbo 14:41, 7 March 2007 (EST)

  • That's a good point, actually. At the time Don't Look Back aired, we assumed they were painted by Isaac since we didn't really know anything about Sylar at that point, but it's definitely possible that he painted them. The only thing that makes me hesitate is the time ... there's a lot of them, and Isaac seems pretty freshly dead, what with the wet blood and the cops arriving shortly after Hiro. I'm not sure Sylar would have had time to whip up a dozen or so oil paintings, but it's possible. Why he would choose to do so in his victim's studio is a bit weird, but hey, he's Sylar. He's nucking futs.

I think we'd be best off saying that they are found in his apartment and leaving it at that.--Hardvice (talk) 15:00, 7 March 2007 (EST)

Hmmm

New article for Sylar's paintings, or move this to "Paintings" and continue?--Hardvice (talk) 23:18, 23 April 2007 (EDT)

  • I thought the same thing...That's probably the best idea. Kinda makes me sad, though. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:29, 24 April 2007 (EDT)
    • Since this one's kind of long anyway, maybe a new article for Sylar's paintings is a better way to go...--Hardvice (talk) 02:31, 24 April 2007 (EDT)
      • You know what, yeah, let's do that. My only concern is Sylar won't paint nearly as much as Isaac, so the article will be really short. But I guess time will tell, and we could always (and easily) merge if needed. One thing I thought about after I posted the above message--they sure picked a pretty distinctive style for Sylar to use in his painting. I have to think there'll be at least a few more like it....Side note: I'm really glad they've introduced Linderman's archives to us -- I don't think we've seen the last of our good friend Tim Sale. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:48, 24 April 2007 (EDT)
