Niki's age

Jessica's page states that Niki and Jessica are twins. Jessica was born in 1976, which would make both Niki and Jessica 30, right? Where did we get 33 for Niki? Are they really twins? - User:Ryangibsonstewart

  • Yeah, what reference did we have that stated Niki is 33? ~ Red = 6:25PM (EST) Jan 3, 2007
    • The character's ages, as listed, are from the NBC press package that was released before Genesis aired. They haven't been confirmed on-screen.--Hardvice (talk) 19:23, 3 January 2007 (EST)
  • We are assuming they are twins... there has been no canonical reference to them being twin sisters. All we know for sure is that they are sisters and Jessica died at age 11. It is quite reasonable that Jessica was the older sister who has somehow been absorbed by the younger after her death. - User:Johngon
    • We know in Six Months Ago that Jessica Died in 1976 and In the Car Registration of the convertible Places the Present Timeline in 2006-2007. in Chapter 2 And since We agree that Jessica IS older than Niki, and If Jess was still alive then she would be around 31 years of age MAX! This could mean Niki is Younger than Jessica by around 5 Years old, cause Micah is around 10 years of age. And Niki could have Micah by the age of 18 ( Being Family Friendly show ) If we can say that Niki Gets to know D.L. more before they had Micah by the age of 21 then that would close the age gap by 3 years younger than Jessica. Therefore the Press KIT is WRONG! Unless Niki had Micah at the young age of 15, which is the average start of Female menstruation, that would increase the age gap by 8 years. ~ ~ ~ ~ Red = 19:54, 4 January 2007 (EST)
      • Jessica was born in 1976. This would make her about 30-31 right now. Niki's supposedly 33. She could still be the older sister assuming that age is correct, I dont think there's any evidence that Niki's positively younger. So if Micah is about 10 then she had him when she was about 23. This gives Niki and D.L. plenty of time to have met. In any case 33 is what NBC announced so it's the best age to include until they explicitly make it clear what age she's supposed to be. (Admin 20:17, 4 January 2007 (EST))
    • That's exactly what I was thinking - I don't know why we jumped to the conclusion that they were twins, other than that Jessica's manifestation looks like Niki - doesn't mean the original sister was a twin. And the ages - where did these come from? - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:17, 9 December 2006 (EST)
      • From the Womens Correctional Facility, Niki Talks about Jessica being able to play music and Niki Having no idea about them whic proves that Jessica IS Older than Niki.
        ~ ~ ~ ~ Red = 07:40, 9 February 2007 (EST)
        • Actually, I've played the piano since I was five, and my older brother didn't know anything about music. It's certainly possible that Niki was older or that Jessica was older. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 17:02, 11 February 2007 (EST)
        • You have very strange notions of what constitutes proof.--Hardvice (talk) 17:20, 11 February 2007 (EST)

Power

  • I think what we saw in Godsend was a brief takeover by Jessica, not an example of Niki using superhuman strength. --Ted C 10:04, 23 January 2007 (EST)

It could be that Niki Power's is Actually Alter-Ego. And the Strength is from Jessica [1].

~ Red = 6:25PM (EST) Jan 3, 2007

I propose That Niki's power be Alter-Ego [2].

~ ~ ~ ~ Red = 19:54, 4 January 2007 (EST)
  • Hmmm. I'm not sure that's so much of a power as a condition. Let's wait and see what happens in the upcoming episodes. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:46, 4 January 2007 (EST)
  • The most bizarre thing I'm noticing about Niki/Jessica is that their differences are physical as well as mental. Jessica has a tattoo, but Niki doesn't. The reflection of Jessica in Genesis was bloody, but Niki wasn't. Weird. --Ted C 14:50, 9 January 2007 (EST)
    • It's obvious that Niki's Powers is Alter-Ego cause we haven't seen any evidence that Niki has the Powers when she isn't in Jessica state.

Can any one make an Alter-Ego Article?
~ ~ ~ ~ Red = 14:57, 13 January 2007 (EST)

      • It's not obvious that it's her power and at this point it wouldn't make sense as a power. As Ryan suggested, let's wait to see how it plays out first since the most obvious power is enhanced strength. It just so happens that this power only manifests with Jessica so far. (Admin 15:28, 13 January 2007 (EST))
        • I do think it would be beneficial to have an article called split personality (I have a red link to it on my user page as an article I'd like to see), but this would be a reference to her condition, not her power. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:48, 13 January 2007 (EST)
          • That seems like a logical approach since you're right, it's a condition not necessarily a power. (Admin 16:50, 13 January 2007 (EST))
            • I thought that Niki's power was being able to contact her dead sister, like a medium her sister could use when she felt like it. And then Jessica has the super strength, but couldn't do anything without Niki. -- Spooky 21:21, 12 March 2007 (EDT)
              • A lot remains to be understood about Niki/Jessica. I'm not exactly sure what Niki's power is, and I don't think the writers have made it very clear, either. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:54, 12 March 2007 (EDT)

Symbol/No-Symbol Comparison

Now that Niki's shoulder has been seen sans-Symbol and we know Niki's has a Symbol... can we get side-by-side comparisons? I remember this being quite a discussion earlier. - User:Johngon

  • You meant to say Jessica's has a symbol. Right?--E rowe 22:13, 8 February 2007 (EST)
  • I was under the impression that Jessica has the tattoo on one shoulder, and Niki on the other, like a mirror image. Is this wrong? Applejuicefool 16:17, 20 February 2007 (EST)
  • They've never shown Niki with a tattoo on either shoulder. But then again, I'm not sure they've shown both of her bare shoulders at once, so I guess it's possible. However, Aron Coleite and Joe Pokaski talk about it a bit in the latest CBR interview, and they sure make it sound like only Jessica has the tattoo.--Hardvice (talk) 16:24, 20 February 2007 (EST)
  • We've also never seen any tattoo on the left shoulder, just the right. They make a pretty big deal about telecasting when it's Jessica and when it's not by showing us that tattoo. (Thanks, NBC, couldn't figure it out by Ali's acting alone, could we?) And Isaac cleaning off the tattoo in the painting of Jessica was a pretty big tip-off that one has the tat and owe doesn't. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:40, 20 February 2007 (EST)

Name

I don't know how to make a redirect. But, since a lot of people spell her name Nikki, and especially since it's spelled that way on her website on screen, there should be a redirect here from "Nikki."--E rowe 22:15, 8 February 2007 (EST)

  • We try not to make redirects for misspellings. It makes it harder to track them down. When somebody tries to link to Nikki and it comes out red, it's an indication that they've done something wrong.--Hardvice (talk) 22:26, 8 February 2007 (EST)
  • First, to make a redirect, type #redirect and then the link.

Second, we generally don't redirect misspellings, otherwise we risk encouraging misspellings throughout the site. Just because people regularly misspell her name does not make it correct. The only canonical example of her name being spelled with two ks is as her username. That does not mean that's how she spells her name, though. For instance, I might choose to spell my username "Stewart", despite my actual surname being spelled "Stuart" to create privacy (especially if I run a site on which I strip). Besides, her name has been spelled "Niki" numerous times onscreen, so that's how we spell it. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:27, 8 February 2007 (EST)

    • "We try not to make redirects for misspellings. It makes it harder to track them down." Harder to track what down?
    • FWIW I would take the opposite approach. We don't need to come up with every possible misspelling. But I think redirecting as many likely misspellings as we can would be an improvement. --E rowe 10:01, 9 February 2007 (EST)
      • We don't redirect misspellings so that, for instance, if someone misspells a link in an article it will show up red and can be found and corrected more easily. If we redirected to the misspelling then it would show up as a proper link and we'd have more misspellings in the articles. For instance when I'm writing long articles I've probably accidentally linked to "Nikki" before. When I preview the article "Nikki" will stand out in red and I'll notice it and correct the spelling. Not creating redirects for misspellings helps discourage the spelling mistakes, so that's why it's been a policy here to generally not redirect to misspellings. (Admin 10:27, 9 February 2007 (EST))
        • OK. That makes a lot of sense.--E rowe 15:01, 9 February 2007 (EST)

Lead description

This lead description is a bit long (possibly the longest of all our articles). I think it's about time to split it into a lead description and an "About" section, like Hardvice has written for some of the other main characters. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:34, 13 February 2007 (EST)

Run! reflection

I changed the note that Jessica sees Niki in the reclection and on the stairs. Niki and Jessica actually switch spots at that moment (i.e., Niki takes control for a moment). When Niki's on the stairs, it's actually Jessica in the reflection, not Niki. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:22, 19 February 2007 (EST)

  • I'll defer on that, since I don't have a recording, but as I remembered it, Jessica looked at the "mirror" in the stairwell, and saw herself. She then turned and saw Niki on the opposite side of the stairwell, halfway up to the next floor. They conversed as if they were both present in the stairwell instead of through a "window", as they do when talking through mirrors. Essentially, it seemed as though Jessica hallucinated Niki in the stairwell with her. --Ted C 15:30, 19 February 2007 (EST)
    • You're right, it's really confusing. First, Jessica sees Niki in the 12th floor plate. Then on the 11th floor plate, she sees Niki again, and turns around. The shot cuts to Niki in the stairwell, pleading. The next shot of Jessica is a closeup -- it's hard to tell, but there are lines on her face. The lines are the words in the floor plate. It's as though you drew on a mirror and then looked at yourself through the mirror. You can still see yourself, but a little bit fuzzy, or with marks down your face. And since it's a closeup shot, it makes it that much more difficult to tell. ... What I did find interesting, though was that Matt was able to hear inside "her" mind (whoever that "her" might be). I actually think that's the biggest clue as to what Nissica is all about. (Forgive me for coining that term, I couldn't help it.) :) — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:40, 19 February 2007 (EST)
      • Nissica. I like that.
