Talk:Portal:Education and Research
split?
We're getting a lot of education places here and the research sites are looking a bit out of place. Might we split them off?--SacValleyDweller 17:03, 28 October 2007 (EDT)
- 7 are schools or school-related sites. If we include the Cairo lecture hall, that would make a portal of 8 for "Portal:Education". Chandra's office should probably be moved to Portal:Offices (since that's it's primary function, I suppose. The medical facility could be moved to Portal:Medical Sites. Though I could go either way with Chandra's office and the medical facility, if we were to split them off, that would leave us 5 for "Portal:Research". I'm okay with that. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:41, 28 October 2007 (EDT)
- This one doesn't really bother me too much yet. We should definitely move the medical facility and the office. After that, I'm fine with either splitting it or leaving it.--Hardvice (talk) 21:38, 28 October 2007 (EDT)
- I should probably also add that most of my reluctance to split this comes from the fact that Portal:Places has twelve items, making for three rows of four, and two rows of six on template:PortalPlaceNav. While a large chunk of this concern is pure anal retentiveness, thirteen is kind of a large number of items for a portal/navbar. Now we could very easily do subportals (put apartments and homes as subpages of Residences (similar to Portal:World Locations), for example, or include Hotels, Restaurants, and maybe Transportation as subpages of Businesses (more like Portal:Things), and that would reduce the number on Portal:Places by a few--though it would mean more clicks to get to an article.--Hardvice (talk) 23:16, 28 October 2007 (EDT)
- That's cool. I don't really mind one way or another. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:51, 28 October 2007 (EDT)
