Character History
Volume One: Genesis
Volume Two: Generations
After the explosion, Niki and Micah sit at Roosevelt Hospital waiting to hear the results of D.L.'s surgery. Dr. Brooks then comes out and tells them that the surgery was a success and D.L. will be fine. The next day Niki and Micah visit D.L. as he is recovering. She explains to Dr. Brooks that they don't have insurance for the surgery, but he assures her it’s been taken care of. She is then introduced to Bob Bishop who explains to her that he wants to help her. He explains that sometimes when abilities manifest the mind can fracture causing a split personality. She tells him that she is finished with Jessica, but he assures her that other personalities could emerge. He offers her a chance to get help but it would mean she would have to leave her family. She refuses to leave her family again after just getting them back together. Bob then offers her medication she could take at home but warns her that there are side effects. At Micah's birthday party one month later Niki is having a real hard time dealing with the effects of her medication. She claims that she can't even smile on her own son's birthday. Her husband assures her that the medication just needs to level out and then things will get better.
Niki decides to dispose of the medication by dumping them down the drain. After one month without taking her medication, Niki got a job as a car salesman, a job that makes D.L. very proud of her. After D.L. leaves to go bring Micah to school Niki hears a voice speaking behind her. She turns around to see a person who looked just like her. This person calls herself Gina, a name that Niki once took on when she went to Los Angeles. Gina wants to back to LA but Niki claims she is in control, and that if she could handle Jessica she can handle her. Gina then asks why she wasn't taking her meds and takes control of Niki and travels to LA. One month later, Gina is in a club doing drugs and dancing with a man. D.L. then intervenes and assumes Gina is Jessica, to which Gina tells him to guess again. D.L. then explains to the man that Gina is his wife and shows her a picture of himself, Niki, and Micah. Niki then regains control and she is not aware of where she was. She begins to leave the club with D.L. where they say how much they love each other. The man Gina was dancing with then approachea them and shoots D.L. in the chest right in front of Niki. One week later at D.L.'s funeral Niki explains to Nana Dawson that she needs to get some help. Nana explains that if Niki needs anything to just ask her. Bob Bishop then arrives at the funeral and Niki agrees to receive treatment. Niki then decides that it is time for her and Micah to leave Las Vegas for a fresh start at life. She promises Micah that anytime he wants to visit his father she would make sure it happens and that they have to say goodbye. Niki brings Micah to New Orleans to stay with his relatives, The Dawson's. Micah doesn't want Niki to go but she explains to him that she has to, but when she gets back they will be together again. Niki then calls Bob while waiting at his office at the Company facility. She makes sure that he will be able to cure her and he says as long she repays the favor. Later, Niki, while under the influence of another personality escapes from her confinements. She tears down the doors and makes her way into the Company hospital hallway. There, she tosses Mohinder Suresh into a door and lifts Bob Bishop up by his neck, strangling him. She is then tazered by Mohinder and falls to the floor. Later, confined to her bed, Niki is back to her normal self and apologizes for her actions earlier. Bob tells her that her disorder is a terrible affliction but promises her they would get her well. Mohinder then offeres her a chance to escape believing she is a prisoner. Niki explains that she is sick and that these were the only people who can help her. Niki is later cured of her disorder and assigned to be Mohinder Suresh's partner for the Company. She explains that she owes the Company for helping her and that she wants to make sure that there are no misunderstandings between him and Bob. She later comments that it wasn't her decision to be his partner. Bob then explains that Maury Parkman is near the facility so he was evacuating it. In his office Bob explains to Niki, Mohinder, Nathan, and Matt what roles they will play in stopping Maury.
Niki believes she could be persuasive but Bob wants her to help Mohinder inject him with the Shanti Virus. Later, she is walking with Mohinder saying that she knows he doesn't trust Bob. Niki then explains to Mohinder how she killed a lot of people and how the Company could have given her the virus but they chose not to. She tells him that they made her right so she could have a normal life with her son. Niki then turns around to see D.L. behind her saying that she's not cured and that she is a killer and she is going to kill everyone. Niki decides to not tell Mohinder and the two of them proceed to get the virus. While getting the virus Maury continues to show Niki visions of D.L. She then starts talking to herself and saying that she is still sick. D.L. claims that they are using her and she can still do the right thing. Then, a vision of Bob shoots D.L., and D.L. tells Niki that killing Bob is the only way to save Micah. Niki then punches Mohinder across the room, takes the vile of the Shanti Virus, and proceeds to Bob's office. When she arrives at Bob's office she starts punching the door. She knocks the door down using her strength and enters the office. She explains to Nathan that she has to kill Bob because he killed D.L. Nathan tells her that it is a nightmare and to think of Micah. She then chooses to inject herself with the virus in order to stop herself. Mohinder tries to cure her using the antibodies in his blood. She apologizes to him for breaking his nose, and he says it wasn't her fault because she wasn't in control. He then discovers that the virus had mutated and his blood was no longer a cure. Niki then realizes that she is going to die. She thank Bob for helping her while she checks herself out of the Company to be with her son. Niki then returns to New Orleans and surprises Micah with her return. She explains how much she missed him and that she went to the Company because they help people like them when they are sick. She confirms to him that Jessica and all her other personalities are gone, but that she has a virus. She tells Micah that Dr. Suresh is working hard to find a cure and that he will find one so she can get better and they can live a normal life together. Micah says that D.L.’s medal will make her stronger but when he goes to get it, he notices it's gone. After Damon reveals that the medal was stolen after he tried to get money for it, Micah tells Niki that they need to be heroes and get it back. Niki claims that being a hero got his father killed and that she is sorry but the medal is gone. Niki later receives a call from Mohinder saying that he has found a cure for the virus but when Niki goes to Micah's bedroom to tell him, she discovers that he is gone.
The next day Micah returns to the Dawson’s home, where Niki says that she has been looking everywhere for him. Micah then tells Niki that they have to rescue Monica, and she can use her strength to help. She tells him that the virus has side-effects and she doesn’t have her strength anymore, but Dr. Suresh called her and that he may have a cure. Micah hopes so and they then proceed to help Monica. Micah uses his ability to tell Niki’s cell phone to find Monica’s cell phone to show them where she was. They arrive at a burning building where Monica is being held inside. Niki cuts off the gang member responsible and gets out of the car to confront him. She kicks him and takes his gun which she then uses to knock him out by hitting him with it in the face. She tells Micah to stay in the car while she goes into the building to rescue Monica. In the building, Niki finds Monica and helps her escape. On their way out a wooden beam falls in front of them blocking their exit. Niki tells Monica that when she lifts the beam to pull the door open. Niki successfully lifted the beam and she tells Monica to get out of the building. After Monica leaves Niki drops the wooden beam and tries as hard as she can to lift it again, but is unsuccessful. She remains trapped in the building and is killed when it explodes.
Volume Three: Villains
After her tragic death, a funeral for Niki is held at the Dawson's home in New Orleans. Micah reveals to Tracy Strauss that she was born on the same day as his mom and they were both delivered to Dr. Zimmerman. It is later revealed to Tracy Strauss by Dr. Zimmerman that Niki was born one of three identical triplets and that they were given abilities and seperated at birth.
Volume Four: Fugitives
Micah tells Tracy that even though she looks exactly like Niki she is nothing like her, because his mom was a hero while she is just a politician. When confronted by Sylar, Micah mentions that his mom used to change like he does but on the inside and how she fought back and became a hero.
Volume Five: Redemption
Niki has not appreared or been mentioned during this volume.
Evolved Human Abilities
Niki possessed enhanced strength. She was strong enough to knock down doors and other obstacles with a single hit, throw people several feet across a room, and literally rip people in half. For months, she could only utilize her power through her alternate personality, Jessica, who is much more violent than her normal self. Jessica used the ability in a variety of crimes ranging from robberies to brutal murders. Eventually, Niki finally learned how to use her enhanced strength at will. While infected with the Shanti Virus, Niki could no longer access her ability.
