  • Beautiful girl's name! Here's a list of boys names I like and where they're from:

1. my family: Marion (it was a boys before our time, as he was a relative), Glenn.
2. the Bible: Abraham
3. history: Benjamin (as in Franklin).
4. pop culture: Luke (as in Skywalker), Sherman (as in T. Potter), Walter (as in __ "Radar" O'Riley ).
5. Others: Cody, Eric, Kurt, Sam/Samuel.

• I think you may be interested in patterns, and seeing how one existing son's name begins with an 'E' and the other with a 'G', the next name in progression would probably begin with an 'I' or a 'C'. And since both end with the letter 'n', I will suggest the names 'Ian' (Scottish for God is Gracious) and 'Conlan' (Irish for Hero). • Well, I feel it's time I unload my wife's constant headache (namely me) on everybody, and let y'all know every one of my idiosyncrasies. These are the unexplainable pet peeves I use to shoot down almost every one of my wife's suggestions, much to her chagrin. Okay, full disclosure:
  1. Names cannot have the same primary vowel sound as the last name. So "Drew Stewart" and "Luke Stewart" are out.
  2. Names cannot end in the same sound as the beginning sound of the last name. That excludes "Reese Stewart" and "Ace Stewart". This goes for similar sounds, like "Lex Stewart", "Baz Stewart", and "Welsh Stewart".
  3. Peter Petrelli and Laura Lancaster are wonderful for comics and juvenile poetry, but not for my childrens' names. Nothing alliterative like "Samuel Stewart" or "Sassafras Stewart".
  4. I have a hard time with names which will automatically be shortened to nicknames. I love the name Gabriel, but not the name Gabe. Michael is nice, but he'll be called Mike.
  5. Initials cannot spell anything or even look like it begins to spell anything. So that rules out "Paul Ivan Stewart" and of course "Aaron Stephen Stewart". "Benjamin Alan Stewart" would be nice, but I can't help but think that his initials sound like they're trying to send a message that the kid was born out of wedlock. :)

      • If you go with Conlan, then I suggest that you use your wife's name for your son's middle name: Rutherford (English for from the cattle ford) is the masculine form of Ruth, and is the name of a former President and a city in NJ. Since your name went for one son's middle name, and another relative's name was used for the other son's middle name, it's only fair your wife's name gets used for the next one's middle name. If you choose Ian as first name, any R middle name makes I.R.S. so I would would instead suggest a P name, like Paul or Peter (names of Jesus's disciples).--MiamiVolts (talk) 20:39, 29 December 2007 (EST)
        • My wife has been a fan of Ian for awhile, but it's not my favorite. She really likes Conlan, but if we go with that, I'd rather it be Colin.
