Touch necessary?

Do we have canon evidence to suggest that James Martin has to touch in order to sample a persons DNA, to make the copy. I realize there were multiple examples of him making physical contact with his intended identity, but I do not recall seeing him touch Sylar at all before he shifted into Sylar. Discrepency? Bad Editing? Thoughts? --Fourletterfame 19:52, 31 March 2009 (EDT)

  • I think I heard a sound when he copied someone once by touching them. It was a sound-effect like used with other powers.--WarGrowlmon18 21:32, 31 March 2009 (EDT)
    • We have no proof that James touched Sylar, but we also have no proof he didn't. They were, after all, in a club and James was being Danko. James as Danko easily could've slipped by and touched Sylar momentarily. Each other occurence of James using his power that we know of involved touch.--Ikkian 20:33, 1 April 2009 (EDT)
      • There is no proof either way, but it's a very good assumption. He made a very big deal out of touching the janitor. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:16, 2 April 2009 (EDT)
        • And we've had a closeup of him shaking Danko's hand at the beginning.--Ikkian 07:22, 2 April 2009 (EDT)
          • Well there's a discrepancy in the information. On the James Martin page, it says the ability requires physical contact no matter what, but on the shape shifting page, it says Martin copied Sylar without physical contact. So what gives? Can we have a consensus on the consistency we want to go with? --Fourletterfame 14:54, 2 April 2009 (EDT)
            • I suggest we write that's it's implied heavily that James needs physical contact to shape shift someone, but that no physical contact seemed to have happened for him to copy Sylar.--Ikkian 16:35, 2 April 2009 (EDT)
              • Exactly right. We say what we know, being informed by the implications. I suggest wording it something like this: "James seems to need to have physical contact with the people into whose likenesses he shape shifts. However, it is unknown whether or not (or when) he ever had physical contact with Sylar, his last shape shifting target." -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:58, 2 April 2009 (EDT)

Picture

Who agrees that in COG James never wore his real face? --Altes 11:46, 1 April 2009 (EDT)

  • Does'nt he look like Bill Hooper? --Juba 11:57, 1 April 2009 (EDT)
  • No, I mean that James's real face may be long-forgotten. He's a shapeshifter after all. --Altes 13:07, 4 April 2009 (EDT)
    • No, as a teacher he cannot fool his pupils ;-) bud "died 1997" long forgotten dead?

Does anyone else.....

think it's funny that James Martin was a high school geometry teacher, that just happens to have shape shifting as a power--Sylar Fan09 00:07, 7 April 2009 (EDT)

Who killed him?

James is listed as a victim of Sylar's. How do we know it wasn't Danko who stabbed him in the head? AltesUTC CH 07:45, 18 December 2009 (EST)
