Eden's father and stepmother are constantly arguing. After one particularly bad night, he leaves and never returns home. Eden's stepmother tells Eden that the man left because of Eden.

After Eden's death, Mr. Bennet tracks down Eden's father at his home; he is now much older but still an alcoholic. Eden's father's disinterest in his daughter enrages Mr. Bennet, and he exclaims that Eden overcame her past and died a hero. Eden's father finally shows some remorse, saying "I'm sorry. It's not my fault..." Walking away, Mr. Bennet tells The Haitian, "Don't erase everything. Leave the guilt."
