Heroes Countdown to Premiere Contest

Preparing for S.3

Given that we are entering the last week before the season premiere, what about replacing the "latest webisode" blurb with the "latest episode" one (i.e. Powerless)? The "Going Postal" webisodes are (sorta) a closed book, and with NBC's heavy promotion of the third season, it's likely that new people will stumble upon Heroes Wiki, presumably looking for info on where the series left off: Powerless. We need to...

I think we need to archive everyone's character history into Season One and Season Two, like we've done with all the main characters. Thoughts?--Citizen 09:00, 25 September 2008 (EDT)

    • We should archive only for characters who have been in more than one season. It makes the wiki look better and more organized.--Citizen 16:26, 25 September 2008 (EDT)
      • Ditto. Also, I think we should write the summary for seasons chronologically. For example, in the Haitian's article, the summary for the It Takes a Village arc was put behind the summary for the episodes in the Season 1 summary.         • I definitely don't think we should archive all characters who are in multiple seasons. For instance, Kin Egami appeared in two seasons, but it would be ridiculous to archive what amounts to about ten lines of history. I do think we should simply take characters who have appeared (or been mentioned) a lot and look at them on a case-by-case situation. If their pages are long and they look like they'll be back for another round of episodes in an upcoming season, then we'll archive their page. If they're at the end of their run (hello, Isaac!) then their pages can remain a little long. Hence, characters like Monica Dawson and Elle Bishop really don't need to be archived. In fact, I think their pages should be restored and the archives deleted.           • We all know Heroes has graphic novels, and writing character histories in chronological order would make this a richer wiki. We're wasting that opportunity by not even referencing the GN events in some of the character season histories. Also, we don't have to archive EVERYONE'S histories, only the main character's histories.             • I don't think we're talking about the same thing. I was talking about taking the character histories and putting them (or not putting them) on a separate page at the end of the season. • I edited Kin's page to look like this (I reverted it immediately). Does that look sloppy or ridiculous to you? We can make it so that only the characters that have been in Portal:Main Characters and/or have been in more than one season have archived histories. Also, making the summaries chronological wouldn't be a bad idea. Imagine how awesome Adam's page would look like :).--Citizen 23:41, 28 September 2008 (EDT)
  • It seems pointless to me. Why generalize the season instead of being specific with the episode? And as awesome as Adam's page would be, imaging how confusing Hiro's page would be--do we start with the 1671 stuff, or do we start with him learning of his abilities in October 2006? And think about how screwed up pages like Gael's would be, where he dies around March 20, 2007, and then hires Donna shortly thereafter. Hmm... And what about those events that are in an unspecified future or an unspecified time in the past? Good luck trying to sort those out! :) No, I definitely don't think organizing events in chronological order is a good idea. I think it opens us up for a ton of speculation and confusingly written articles, not to mention the 200+ articles that would have to be reformatted (and that's if we only do the character articles and not the items, places, locations, etc.) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:20, 29 September 2008 (EDT)
  • This discussion sounds familiar to me. I know the question of why we order the information by episode/graphic novel has come up a few times before and ordering the events chronologically cause the problems Ryan mentioned plus makes it more difficult for those who may not be up to date on the episodes (like people in other countries) to sort through the information they're supposed to know already. Punctuation of episodes and graphic novels

I don't think they should all be italicized. The title of a show (Heroes) or a book (Saving Charlie) can be, but an episode ("Angels and Monsters") or a comic ("Resistance") should have quotes. Therequiembellishere 19:56, 14 October 2008 (EDT)

    • It's not incorrect; it's just our own formatting. Just like there's MLA and AP style/formatting, we have our own format guidelines for the wiki. Help:Style details many of those guidelines. However, they are open to debate and suggestions for improvement. If there does need to be a global change, Admin might be able to do so using a bot.--MiamiVolts (talk) 20:20, 14 October 2008 (EDT)
