Nidia helps Maya and Alejandro in their quest to cross the US border.
Character History
Lizards
Alejandro and Maya seek the aid of Nidia on their journey north to America. Nidia welcomes them into her home to rest. During this time, Nidia receives a visit from a curandera who runs from the home, calling Maya "the Devil". Nidia attempts to calm the woman, but is unsuccessful.
That night, Nidia becomes the Herreras' guide as they attempt to cross the border between Guatemala and Mexico. At this time, a border guard causes Alejandro to become separated from Maya, and Maya's ability begins to manifest, apparently killing Nidia. Soon thereafter, Alejandro is reunited with them, and uses his ability to both heal Maya and seemingly raise Nidia from death. Upon regaining consciousness, Nidia runs away, yelling, "Stay away from me Devil, stay away!".
