******* I may be wrong but isn't that a misconception? I recall that microwaves are more effective at heating up liquids (or just water) then other substances. The idea the inside heats first I recalling hearing comes from food being more moist on the inside then the outside. Either way the fact it effected a liquid before a solid would confirm it either way. [[User:The Light6|The Light6]] 03:45, 10 February 2009 (EST)

******** Right, microwaves cook/heat less dense materials easier than the other substances. It just happens that most of the time the less dense material (such as liquids) are inside so they end up cooking faster. **********Should we be going along the lines o kinesis somewhere, movement of particles create waves? ALso, see health effects at [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microwave] they radiate. So going with Ted it'll be something like Microwave Radiation?

Spoiler page?

Shouldn't this be changed to a spoiler page for now?--Crazylicious 09:14, 9 February 2009 (EST)

  • Yup. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 11:11, 9 February 2009 (EST)
    • Why? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:25, 9 February 2009 (EST)
      • I think Crazylicious posted his message earlier in the day, before the episode aired. Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 22:26, 9 February 2009 (EST)
        • Oh, I see. I saw that it was posted at 9:14, and assumed that it was pm, not am. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:39, 9 February 2009 (EST)
          • Yup. Sorry about the confusion.--Crazylicious 00:17, 10 February 2009 (EST)

Name suggestion

How about microwave emission? There's not really any need for "rays" since "microwave" doesn't have to be used as an adjective and could just be used as a noun. Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 23:22, 9 February 2009 (EST)

    • Microwave emission makes me think he actually produces microwave ovens lol XD
  • Whatev. Pretty much, as long as it has "microwave", I'm fine with it at this point. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:07, 10 February 2009 (EST)
    • Haven't seen the episode myself, but did this ability look similar to Ted's power (not remembering the official name right now....)? -- Tristan0709 talk 01:28, 10 February 2009 (EST)
      • The ability was redness and wavy distortions emanating from Luke's hands, his hands themselves did not glow. And yes, microwave emission would be the best name in my opinion, as it has an action verb that I think is crucial to an ability name, and it fits precedents like laser emission). --SacValleyDweller (talk) 01:55, 10 February 2009 (EST)
        • I'm fine with either, though microwave emission does make more sense.--MiamiVolts (talk) 02:00, 10 February 2009 (EST)
          • Problem is, Luke says his ability is LIKE a microwave. Doesn't say it IS a microwave. Not to be the devil's advocate, but doesn't that mean we CAN'T name it "microwave" anything? Granted, he is probably uneducated to the exact mechanism of his ability, but for all we know this could just be him adding heat to everything.--Riddler 02:29, 10 February 2009 (EST)
                  • Matt also said Ando's ability is LIKE a supercharger, yet we used supercharging as the name.--NiveKJ13 (talk2me) 16:46, 10 February 2009 (EST)
            • The way Luke's ability heated the contents of Sylar's cup, splashing them up, before cracking the cup itself confirms to me is a microwave emission effect. A microwave cooks the insides first.--MiamiVolts (talk) 03:32, 10 February 2009 (EST)
