Lead Ability Image

Wouldnt this image, be a better lead image, Because:
+ It shows Sparrow invoking it
+ It's clear how the earth's moving the hummer
- the current lead image isn't very self-explanatory, doesn't portray action, and just looks like a picture of a stalagmite.--HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 05/12/2009 08:11 (EST)

  • Agreed, I'll fix it now. --Radicell 09:41, 12 May 2009 (EDT)

Alternative

I'm not sure I should be adding this section, but we ever rename this, just take earth and put geological. Same thing, classier name. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 21:01, 12 May 2009 (EDT)

  • Actually, Sparrow's exact quote is "controlling the earth". If we're going to rename it anything, it should probably be from those words, something like "earth controlling" or "earth control". But neither of those sound very smooth to me, and I'm find with "earth manipulation". -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:10, 12 May 2009 (EDT)
  • "Geokinesis"? Wanderer32 22:15, 12 May 2009 (EDT)
    • Although I can't find any exact matches, it seems that both earth manipulation and geokinesis are common names for her ability based on wikia and wikipedia, though those are not really valid sources. However, for me earth manipulation implies she can manipulate the Earth in other ways... for instance, the character Petra in the Marvel Universe can turn rocks into diamonds. They call Petra's ability 'geokinesis' though, so that kind of invalidates that argument. Go figure.--MiamiVolts (talk) 03:49, 13 May 2009 (EDT)
  • One I've always been fond of is "Terrakinesis". Terra = Earth + '-kinesis'. The ability to control the classical element of Earth (soil, rocks, etc) with the power of the mind. This allows for the 'levitation' aspect of the power as well (i.e., lifting rocks and suspending them in the air). Just my 2 cents. PowerSink 17:32, 13 May 2009 (AEST)
    • In my searches, terrakinesis is always referred to as another name for geokinesis. Though I like the term terrakinesis, I find it is less common.--MiamiVolts (talk) 03:49, 13 May 2009 (EDT)
      • Other than Tele- and Pyro-, I don't think we'll ever see another -kinesis ability in Heroes, at least not named like that. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 16:56, 13 May 2009 (EDT)
      • I'm all for Terrakinesis or Geokinesis! --Isaac Mendez 12:06, 14 May 2009 (EDT)
      • Earth manipulation works, it sums it up perfectly --Lolwut 09:09, 15 May 2009 (EDT)
      • The graphic novel Rebellion, Pt 3 specifically names this ability as Terrakinesis. This is semi-canon, correct?Swm 06:39, 19 May 2009 (EDT)
        • Correct. --Radicell 06:52, 19 May 2009 (EDT)
        • And thank god! I really didn't want the whole voting process with millions and millions of names, each rejected by one or two people saying "hmmm... too speclative" with one of my favourite character's abilities. --Isaac Mendez 10:19, 23 May 2009 (EDT)
        • I'd of thought, judging by how we have pyrokinesis, rather than flamakinesis, that we would similarly get geo-k instead of terra-k. But, hey I 'm not complaining, since I've always been partial to the Latin names myself.--Laudo 19:38, 27 May 2009 (EDT)

Teen Titans Reference?

Haha when I first realized the name of her power I thaught it was a reference to the teen titans character Tera. I get it now, but I wonder if anyone else thought the same thing. -Earl

  • Not really, since Tera's name is itself a reference to her power (like a certain mailman on Heroes). Frankly I would have thought the power to be more commonly known as "geokinesis", but I guess since they mean the same thing the point is rather moot.-Piemanmoo 20:02, 20 May 2009 (EDT)
    • Yeah, as far as -kinesis powers go, I thought they'd stick with Greek prefixes. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 20:17, 20 May 2009 (EDT)
      • I don't know, I've always heard Terrakinesis over Geokinesis myself. I'm not an avid superhero fan, though. To me (and this is just my opinion) terrakinesis sounds more like moving dirt, and geokinesis seems more like moving the planet (think geography, geothermal, etc. - these refer to the planet, not the material). --Yamawhata? 17:13, 22 May 2009 (EDT)
        • Well, as far as semantics go, I think Geo is the exactly same thing as Terra, which also happens to be earth in Portuguese. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 17:21, 22 May 2009 (EDT)
          • That's because terra is the Latin word for Earth, and Portuguese, like French, Spanish, and Italian, evolved out of Latin.--Laudo 19:34, 27 May 2009 (EDT)
