Archiving Trouble

Hey Miami, I'm having some trouble with my talk page, and since I know you are very good with coding I thought to ask you. If you look at my talk page, I have a template (made today), {{User talk:Leckie/Archives}} is at the top, but there is a problem with the most recently added archives. Could you please help me, as I haven't a clue what's going on! Thanks :)--Leckie -- Talk 15:27, 7 February 2010 (EST)

  • You can only have a few calls to Template:ArchiveLinks in {{User talk:Leckie/Archives}}. Adding more causes your page to reach a template limit, so you need to now use Template:ArchivePrelinks instead. The documentation should explain how to use it, but if you don't understand, please let me know and I'll try to elaborate.--MiamiVolts (talk) 15:55, 7 February 2010 (EST)
  • Also, I noticed that you had deleted some of your old signature files (i.e. User:Leckie/Signature 4), but they are still linked to from some talk pages. I fixed my page to remove the red links, but for the others I recommend you recreate the signature files as redirects to your current signature. Alternatively, you could search for what links to them and edit all your old comments to use your current signature, but that's a lot more work... If you don't understand what I mean, please let me know.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:48, 7 February 2010 (EST)
    • Umm, I kinda made it worse :/ Can you help me? --Leckie -- Talk 12:42, 8 February 2010 (EST)
    • Never mind, Jenx222 helped me and its sorted now. --Leckie -- Talk 13:19, 8 February 2010 (EST)
      • Ok, FYI: You were using }} instead of |} to close your table in {{User talk:Leckie/Archives}}. Jenx222 fixed that for you. Looks like you figured the rest out yourself, though it seems you took out the no-wrap tags that the ArchivePrelinks template adds for you.--MiamiVolts (talk) 13:42, 8 February 2010 (EST)

Siren's song/Enhanced synesthesia

Hey, I have a brief question concerning Emma's ability name. A month ago, we started a consensus and narrowed it down to four names and then began a poll. Siren's song received the most votes, but I've been told that that isn't the deciding factor. However, since "Siren's song" was mentioned in a canon source by Samuel (and the Watcher called Emma a siren), doesn't that automatically win over all the descriptive level 5 names we came up with?

I'm sorry for potentially dragging you into a mindless debate but we're not sure where to go with this.--PJDEP - Need further explanation? 15:54, 9 February 2010 (EST)

  • Right, since the name "Siren's song" was mentioned in the show as pertaining to Emma's ability, only another name mentioned in the show or one derived from such a name can be considered. Since the majority seemed to support 'siren's song' over 'enhanced synesthesia' (the only other canon-derived name I saw mentioned), I think it is okay to leave the name as 'siren's song' for now.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:28, 9 February 2010 (EST)
    • Thanks for clarifying.--PJDEP - Need further explanation? 23:45, 9 February 2010 (EST)
      • Numbers aren't all, there was valid and so far unchallenged opposition to that name. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 09:52, 10 February 2010 (EST)
        • I also think that it is at best, unclear that 'Siren's song' was an actual naming of an ability as opposed to being a description of one. --Stevehim 12:41, 10 February 2010 (EST)
          • Regardless, it was the only thing mentioned.--PJDEP - Need further explanation? 14:04, 10 February 2010 (EST)
            • Integration of music and emotion was mentioned. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 15:19, 10 February 2010 (EST)
              • Samuel said, quote, "Your emotions can become one with the music." "Music and emotion integration" is a pretty wide step from that point, against "like a siren's song" and "She's a siren". --Ricard Desi (t,c) 15:23, 10 February 2010 (EST)
                • Unless Miami disagrees, this conversation should probably be held on talk:Siren's song, not on Miami's talk page. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:43, 10 February 2010 (EST)
                  • True...sorry about that...we've been going at it on that page for awhile and it's at a bit of a stalemate. If any admins could weigh in there whenever they get a chance, that might help sort things out. --Stevehim 15:56, 10 February 2010 (EST)
                  • Yes, lets continue this conversation on the ability talk page. I'll try to add my thoughts there later tonight. Thanks, Ryan.--MiamiVolts (talk) 15:58, 10 February 2010 (EST)

Heroes Interactive question

Hi, Miami. Could you check over my answer about the first person Ando supercharged on Heroes Interactive:Brave New World? I chose the wrong answer (I thought it was Daphne), and I didn't go back to get the right answer. Thanks! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:32, 11 February 2010 (EST)

  • Sure, I just fixed it. It was just missing a 'You got it.'--MiamiVolts (talk) 02:19, 12 February 2010 (EST)

Enhanced vs Super strength

Hi. Sorry to bother you, but the issue of whether or not to split the enhanced strength page has re-emerged with overwhelming force in favor of splitting it. Ryan has said that in order to split it, we need to contact those who objected and are still active, and see if their opinion has changed and/or if it ok with you to go ahead and split it. As you are one of the three people he specified contacting, I figured I would do so. I will refrain from presenting arguments here, but the current consensus check is here. Thanks very much for weighing in on this. --Stevehim 23:46, 11 February 2010 (EST)

  • I added my comments regarding this to the enhanced strength page on Feb 11-12. Just noting that here now.--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:04, 17 February 2010 (EST)

Precognitive dreaming

Quick naming conventions question. We have precognitive dreaming listed as a Level 1 canon source because Angela has stated that she can dream the future. In the most recent graphic novel, her ability is explicitly listed as "precognitive dreaming". This is more airtight then a description of "dreaming the future", but if we were to add the explicit gn reference in place of the descriptive episodic one, we'd move down a level on the naming conventions. So should we just leave it as it is or add the more explicit option?--PJDEP - Need further explanation? 16:49, 17 February 2010 (EST)

  • It should be referenced using the more explicit option in the power names template, as a more explicit reference trumps one of higher source.--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:04, 17 February 2010 (EST)

Namespace issue

Hey, Miami. When you get a second, could you check out the discussion at this link? We're having trouble some of the namespaces recognizing subpages. Thought you might know what's causing the problem. Thanks! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:45, 20 February 2010 (EST)
