Push Pipe

Turns out it is a vandal, and one that doesn't like you very much. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 16:14, 4 December 2009 (EST)

  • Thanks, I've blocked him and left a comment on his user page.--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:02, 4 December 2009 (EST)

Howie Kaplan and DPL

Hey, Miami. Would you mind checking out the discussion at Talk:Howie Kaplan (crew) when you get a chance? Maybe with some of your DPL expertise, you could come up with another solution... :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:05, 4 December 2009 (EST)

  • Sure; taken care of by altering the NovelsCreated template to accept a name. Presto. :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:08, 4 December 2009 (EST)
    • Awesome. You are Da Man, with a capital D. While we're on the subject of DPL issues, Antonio Fabela's name is not showing up. He colored Almost Famous with Edgar Delgado, and DPL is only recognizing one of the colorists. I chose Edgar to be the one recognized because he has so many credits, whereas Antonio only has one. Right now Antonio's page is crediting him manually. Any chance you can work your magic? :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:15, 4 December 2009 (EST)
      • Nope, still not working. Check out Edgar Delgado's page. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:26, 4 December 2009 (EST)
        • Well, the extra stuff we can filter out, I think. At least Antonio's page works now. Now to fix Edgar's page.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:28, 4 December 2009 (EST)
        • Ok, Edgar's page looks good now. If Edgar is missing any other novels, let me know. I fixed Almost Famous by using comments to make the DPL think there were two colorsby sections.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:44, 4 December 2009 (EST)
          • Unfortunately, that created another issue. All the novels Edgar colored after Almost Famous are now missing. There are nine missing altogether. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:56, 4 December 2009 (EST)
            • Yeah, I thought it had looked shorter than normal. Anyways, that's fixed too now. I ended up just filtering out the extra text on Edgar's page using the substring function and removing the commented stuff from Almost Famous. That seems to work. Not sure there's any cleaner way to fix it until DPL is upgraded.--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:46, 5 December 2009 (EST)
              • Very clever! I knew you'd figure something out. Nicely done! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:33, 5 December 2009 (EST)

Double Redirects

Hey Miami, can you possibly tell me how double redirects can be avoided please? I just made a page, with a notice saying I would move it into my namespace, as the only way to make it was to have it as a mainspace page first. But I realised I moved it to the wrong name. I moved it again and checked if there was a double redirect, which there now is :/ Help me please? -- Leckie 16:53, 17 December 2009 (EST)

  • I'll go ahead and delete the unneeded pages for you. In the future, just edit the unneeded pages to remove the redirect and mark them with an afd tag so they can be deleted.--MiamiVolts (talk) 16:55, 17 December 2009 (EST)
    • Thanks! :) -- Leckie 16:59, 17 December 2009 (EST)

Image sources

Got your message. Is that just something I add in the summary? I didn't put them in because how to do that wasn't really clear. :)--Saberproductions (talk) 07:54, 18 December 2009 (EST)

  • Yes, just add them to the summaries for the image articles. Also, when you comment on talk pages, you should add --~~~~ at the end of your comment (or click the javascript signature button) such that a signature appears when you save the article, enabling others to know the message was from you.--MiamiVolts (talk) 08:27, 18 December 2009 (EST)

User talk:I.absorb.abilities

I.absorb.abilities keeps on wiping his talk page, Radicell has already told him that he shouldn't but he is keeping on doing it -- Leckie 14:10, 18 December 2009 (EST)

  • Well, although it's not polite to just clear the comments left for him, it is his talk page, so I think it's okay if he does that that.--MiamiVolts (talk) 14:34, 18 December 2009 (EST)

Forgive me Miami...

...for I have vandalized. This is my first confession.--PUSHPIPE 17:50, 18 December 2009 (EST)

  • It's okay. Just please don't do it again or you may be blocked permanently.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:05, 18 December 2009 (EST)

Mulligan

How do we know Mulligan is John? I think I may have missed that connection... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:39, 18 December 2009 (EST)

  • Well, it's for a HSG message, and in the HSG, there is a character with nickname 'Mulligan' that I assume the latest event message is referring to since his power is temporal rewind and the character has been around a while. Perhaps you can confirm that assumption? In any case, the character has a first name of 'John', the profile photo is the same as John, and the bio seems to fit John's history, so that's the connection. I'll note it in John's page so there isn't any confusion.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:03, 18 December 2009 (EST)
    • Ah, I see. I think Zach was referring to this mulligan...but I'll double check with him. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:40, 18 December 2009 (EST)
      • Yeah, it would be good to check with him. Though since the info. about Mulligan is from Zach, I think it probable this is the character in Heroes: Survival he was referring to that had already appeared in the iStory. (See this related thread on 9th Wonders)--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:50, 18 December 2009 (EST)
        • Yep! There's not much more I'm allowed to say about it at this point...but you are completely on the right track. Only difference is "Mulligan" isn't a nickname. It's a last name. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:04, 19 December 2009 (EST)

Image deletion

Hey there, I recently had a brief image uploading conflict which resulted in two versions of the same image being uploaded. I was told that I needed an admin to delete one of them and I was wondering if you could? Image is Milo-ventimiglia-heroes-01-nc.jpg. Sorry for the inconvenience--PJDEP 18:12, 21 December 2009 (EST)

  • Sure, I'll delete that for you. In the future, you need only add {{afd}} in the article, and if it's an image you uploaded it should get deleted.--MiamiVolts (talk) 19:08, 21 December 2009 (EST)

Thanks

Hey thanks for signing up to the wiki, I appreciate the help :P - Jenx222 | U / T / C | <inlcudeonly>08:00, 7 January 2012 (EST) 17:44, 22 December 2009 (EST)

  • No problem. What's with all the tongue-smilies lately? ;)--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:10, 23 December 2009 (EST)
    • I don't know, they just keep coming out. It's like part of my signature. : ) - Jenx222 | U / T / C | <inlcudeonly>08:00, 7 January 2012 (EST) 04:13, 23 December 2009 (EST)

Gulp Ninja Series

Hi Miami, I have a fan series (The Gulp-Ninja Series) and I was wondering if it could have its own account like Cockney Heroes? ~~IHHTalk 10:03, 26 December 2009 (EST)

  • Hey IHH, you need to ask Admin about that. Thats what we did for Cockney Heroes--Leckie 10:05, 26 December 2009 (EST)
    • Well he is never on, so I thought another reliable admin could be fine. But I guess I will ask him! ~~IHHTalk 10:24, 26 December 2009 (EST)
  • Leckie is correct that you need to have Admin's permission for that. You might try sending him an e-mail.--MiamiVolts (talk) 12:30, 26 December 2009 (EST)

Victims pages

Hey Miami, can you check out this page and this page for me please, and tell me what you think? -- Leckie 13:27, 26 December 2009 (EST)

  • And this one as well please? -- Leckie 13:31, 26 December 2009 (EST)
    • The galleries all need to have the header "Gallery", and the images need credits following the explanations (see Echo's victims for a good example). Other than that, they look good. Nice work. :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 14:41, 26 December 2009 (EST)
      • Thanks Miami :) -- Leckie 14:47, 26 December 2009 (EST)
        • They indeed look good leckie but i dont think that you can move it to main space because they need more victims. (atleast thats what they told me when i wanted to make one for Becky)-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 14:50, 26 December 2009 (EST)
          • Lol, and I'm the one who actually made the Becky's victims page xD -- Leckie 14:59, 26 December 2009 (EST)

Templates

Hey Miami, I've set up a few templates for the X-Files wiki but there's a load more that need to be created. If you could help out, that would be great. It will give me much more time to sort out the hundreds of articles that need updating, thanks - Jenx222 | U / T / C | <inlcudeonly>08:00, 7 January 2012 (EST) 15:22, 28 December 2009 (EST)

  • Are you User:Admin (Luke) at X-files wiki? I just checked over there and it looks like most of the templates are already there. Is there a todo list for the templates you want?--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:11, 28 December 2009 (EST)
    • Yeah. There are a lot of templates from the old Wiki but they need to be updated with the new look and layout. There's no complete list of the templates we need but just of the top of my head we need a cast infobox, crew infobox, character infobox (has been created but needs slight adjustment). I'll come up with a complete list and post it in the community portal. - Jenx222 | U / T / C | <inlcudeonly>08:00, 7 January 2012 (EST) 05:18, 29 December 2009 (EST)

Exactly How Many?

Hey Miami, is there any way to know exactly how many mainspace edits you've done? I know that if you go to you preferences tab it lists how many overall edits you've done, but I was wondering if there is any way to know about just a specific tab, without having to go to Special:Contributions/Leckie and counting exactly how many. If you can help, thanks! :) -- Leckie 15:39, 28 December 2009 (EST)

  • Not for Heroes Wiki. It's a feature that was considered for DPL, but isn't in the version we use and it isn't implemented yet in the newer version that's at X-files wiki. If you're asking for X-files wiki, have the Admin there check out Extension:Usage Statistics. That seems to me the most stable extension out there that does what you want.--MiamiVolts (talk) 22:58, 28 December 2009 (EST)

Hi MiamiVolts

Hi MV, i wonder if i could make a template for the people from the Netherlands? Like the UK, Canada and the Usa has? If not, thats ok. But i know atleast 3 people who are from the Netherlands (Me, Futurepeter and DarthYotho. I dont know if it is ok for such a small country so thats why i ask a admin :) -- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 18:06, 29 December 2009 (EST)

  • You mean a template to display the flag on your userpage? Go ahead, just add it to the right category. :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 19:16, 29 December 2009 (EST)
    • A few things, first off i dont really know how to make a template like when someone types UK and below comes a I am from the UK thing. And is it ok to use the flag?-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 08:53, 30 December 2009 (EST)
      • Well, if you want to learn, just try copying and adjusting the code. It should be straightforward, but if you have questions, let me know and I'll try to help. Also, I think using that flag is okay, just credit the source when you upload the image so it doesn't get deleted.--MiamiVolts (talk) 21:26, 30 December 2009 (EST)

Gulp Ninja

Hey Miami, there is a somewhat new user named Gulp Ninja. He created a user page "User:Gulp Ninja/Heroesfuck". Is that considered vandalism or is it ok because it is technically a user page?--Catalyst · Talk · HL 10:55, 3 January 2010 (EST)

PS: This is not User:Iheartheroes
  • It is not vandalism, but I do not think it is appropriate to use vulgarity, not even if the article is in the userspace.--MiamiVolts (talk) 16:30, 3 January 2010 (EST)
    • I think we should delete it, i mean come on this is a wiki and what about the younger users.. -- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 16:32, 3 January 2010 (EST)
      • Good job deleting it :)-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 16:33, 3 January 2010 (EST)
        • Thanks. I will also now leave a message for Gulp Ninja regarding censoring his page.--MiamiVolts (talk) 16:37, 3 January 2010 (EST)

Winter

How you liking the Sacramento Valley-style winter you're experiencing? ;) --SacValleyDweller (talk) 02:55, 6 January 2010 (EST)

  • Brr! That sums it up. ;) Anyways, it could be much worse... I can't complain too much. :)--MiamiVolts (talk) 14:24, 6 January 2010 (EST)

Image Deletion (II)

Hey Miami, I recently uploaded Image:Leckie sig.jpg, which was intended for use on a new sig. However I have now decided that I wouldn't like to use it, can you please delete it for me? -- Leckie 14:47, 6 January 2010 (EST)

  • Ok, it's deleted. You can also just add {{afd}} to articles or images you create that need to be deleted.--MiamiVolts (talk) 19:20, 6 January 2010 (EST)

Hey Miami

On the Clairvoyance page you added Adam Soo Hoo. Is this an official profile on heroes survival or a fan made one? If it's fan made then it has no reason to be on the clairvoyance page or be noted on his page. At the beginning of heroes survival users are asked not to recreate any characters from the show. This would be like me creating a character called Harry Fletcher then saying he has empathic mimicry... we wouldn't note that on his page because it is fan fiction. If it is official or was in a crossover that I missed then I'm sorry for rambbling on so long. If it is just fan fic then could you remove it. Thanks for your time. Get back to me. --mc_hammark 07:55, 16 January 2010 (EST)

  • I believe it was explained in a Survival messages. --Radicell 08:17, 16 January 2010 (EST)
    • Right. I also had to make sure it went through all the normal channels of approval by writers and producers that any graphic novel or iStory would have to go through. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:11, 16 January 2010 (EST)
      • Right so it is official, but unconfirmed unless he uses it? --mc_hammark 10:13, 16 January 2010 (EST)
        • No. He used it to find The Watcher. However, since it was in written material, it's unseen. But that doesn't affect anything other than the fact that we can't add a picture to the examples page. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:26, 16 January 2010 (EST)
          • Ok. Thanks for clearing it up. I've not been on Heroes Survival in a while so I've missed a lot of the messages. At least now I know where I can find them and catch up. :) --mc_hammark 10:29, 16 January 2010 (EST)

Heroes Interactive:Pass/Fail

Oh, I was actually just opening up my phone to transcribe this week's HI.... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:43, 19 January 2010 (EST)

  • Oh, sorry, do you want to do next week's? Thought I would continue doing the interactive until you finished writing the current volume of iStory to help you out.--MiamiVolts (talk) 20:48, 19 January 2010 (EST)
    • Thanks. I'm just writing one chapter at the moment (905). It's finished, submitted, and under review. I'll grab next week's HI to give you a break. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:59, 19 January 2010 (EST)
      • Thanks for quickly posting the HI for The Art of Deception. I guess I'll grab the one for The Wall (Feb. 1, 2010), then you can get Brave New World (Feb. 8, 2010). Sound good?--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:33, 29 January 2010 (EST)

User:Tbora

Hey, I don't particularly like the "tattle-tail" role, but I thought this should be brought to your attention. Tbora recently posted a spoiler on a talk page, which was removed, but immediately put it back, destroying another comment in the process. I left him a message about this on his/her talk page, which he/she proceeded to delete. When I undid the delete, and asked him/her not to do it again, it was deleted once more, moments later. I thought that talk pages were meant to be archived, and never deleted, and even if it's not a policy I'm not sure whether he/she understood my message. I thought it would be appropriate to bring this to an admin's attention. Thanks, and I'm sorry if my message is a little convoluted--PJDEP - Need further explanation? 23:01, 25 January 2010 (EST)

  • Thanks for letting me know. FYI: It's more polite to move the person's comments to a spoiler talk page, rather than just delete the comment off the episode talk page, so the person can learn where their post belongs. Regarding user talk pages, it is preferred that people archive their pages, but user talk pages are users' to control; so users are welcome to clear it if they wish. That doesn't mean that we don't know that they have been warned (that info. remains in the history of the user talk page, along with the fact that they cleared it).--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:43, 25 January 2010 (EST)

The Listener's Images

I got an question, there is an user named "The Listener", he uploads a lot of unused pictures but then puts the images on his user page (at "Images i uploaded") so they aren't unused. So what do we do with this pictures? Should we put AFD on them or not?-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 16:57, 27 January 2010 (EST)

  • If he's using them for his user page, they aren't unused. However, he still needs to provide a valid original source url for them to show they are free/uncopywrited. If he doesn't do that, you can mark them AFD for that reason.--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:36, 27 January 2010 (EST)
