Characters on Heroes commonly use instant messaging as a means of communication with other characters:

Hana Gitelman introduces herself to Ted Sprague by text message. (Unexpected)
Noah Bennet messages the Haitian that his home has been compromised. (Company Man)

While talking with Noah Bennet, Hana Gitelman uses her ability to receive Thompson's text message of "kadima" he sent to Noah. Later, she uses her ability to instant message Noah what "kadima" means in English. (Wireless, Part 2)
