Sylar, Maya, and Alejandro stop for a break at Cook Lake. Sylar tells Maya that he believes she does not need her brother anymore, and that she can control her ability by herself. He provokes Maya with negative thoughts, bringing out her ability. As soon as Sylar is about to die, Maya gains control of her ability and reverses it. She runs to Alejandro to tell her the good news. Alejandro tells Maya that Sylar is wanted for killing his mother. Maya defends Sylar, and Alejandro leaves.
Sylar and Maya are about to leave when Alejandro bursts into Sylar's cabin. Sylar takes Alejandro and throws him to the ground, stabbing him three times. Maya knocks at the door and Sylar comes to answer, saying that he had just had a shower and could not hear her. The two kiss, Maya not seeing Alejandro's dead body inside.
