Coatepeque is a town of about 100,000 people located along the Naranjo River in the Quetzaltenango department of Guatemala. It is located more than 2,300 feet above sea level in a mountainous region and is not far from the border with Mexico.
- Coatepeque should not be confused with the town, lake, or volcano of the same name in El Salvador, or the town of the same name in the Santa Rosa department of Guatemala.
