About
Odessa was founded in 1881. Although somewhat small, it is home to the only authentic replicas of William Shakespeare's Globe Theater in existence. It hosts plays throughout the year as well as an annual Shakespeare festival. In addition, Odessa's Presidential Museum is the only one of its kind in the United States totally dedicated to the office of the Presidency, not just one single president. There are also displays about the Presidents of the Republic of Texas.
Notes
- Odessa in Heroes is quite different from real-life. For example, the abandoned refinery where Claire Bennet talks to the Haitian about Zach's memory being erased shows plateaus in the distance which is quite different from the actual area. Similarly, while all the homes in the Bennets' neighborhood have lush green lawns, such lawns are almost impossible to obtain without having a huge water bill due to the constant drought and extreme heat.
- In a question and answer session, writers Joe Pokaski and Aron Coleite said, "Odessa, TX was chosen for its mythic name. The Odyssey being the quintessential Hero's Journey."
Trivia

He also said that there were originally discussion during filming to use a different locational reference, but the decision was made "to stick with that particular town for creative reasons" because "'Odessa' holds a special significance".
