* You seem ... forgetful tonight. :) ... Yes, that sounds right to me. It's pretty redundant. ** Like I said, I must have overdone the nutmeg in the Alfredo sauce tonight or something. In any case, the only problem is that the gallery will be right up under the sidebar. I'll try inserting a

, but if it's too distracting, we might need some kind of filler at the top of the article. Maybe a regular history section, since the Symbol has only been acknowledged once so far.--Hardvice (talk) 00:55, 12 February 2007 (EST) |

Graphic
Is it possible that anyone artistic or good with image editing software could design a graphic, simple black and white for this page? ---- ![]()

- I cleaned up an image that I found on the net, and uploaded Image:TheSymbol_BlackWhite.gif and Image:TheSymbol_Transparent.gif Feel free to delete them if you don't like them --Orne 13:56, 8 November 2006 (EST)
Clock?
- Somebody on 9thWonders keeps saying the Symbol appeared on a clock at the High School in Homecoming, but I'll be damned if I can see it. Anybody else have any luck spotting it, or is this like the "ITS IN THE SAND WHEN NIKI BURIES THE BODIES" thing?--Hardvice (talk) 00:52, 29 November 2006 (EST)
- I just went through the episode and I couldn't see The Symbol on a clock during any of the High School scenes. (Admin 01:08, 29 November 2006 (EST))
- I definitely saw the Symbol in a cloud when Nathan was flying. And it was in the water that Ted boiled, too. Yeah, and in the eggs Charlie was serving. Oh, and if you wrinkle up Peter's shirt just right, you can see the Symbol! :) Ryangibsonstewart 02:03, 29 November 2006 (EST)
- Whenever there's a close-up of the clock at an angle, the glass cover reflects some of the numbers and distorts it. One of the close-ups has a distorted '2' on it that I'm guessing might have been mistaken for the symbol. (Reubs1 04:17, 29 November 2006 (EST))
- Whoa, I noticed that Peter's scar after falling with Sylar resembles the symbol quite a bit, but there's too much blood to see the whole thing... (Reubs1 04:26, 29 November 2006 (EST))

Appearance of The Symbol?
- According to Wikipedia, The Symbol has appeared "as a decorative object in the Bennets' home." Anyone able to see what it's referring to or even get a screencap if it does exist? (Admin 18:41, 28 December 2006 (EST))
- Someone over on "9th Wonders" suggested that perhaps the icons placed on Ted's laptop in the "preview" also formed the symbol. For the hell of it, I took a screencapture and "connected the dots". Check it out: Ted's Laptop --Yoshie (talk) 11:54, 25 January 2007 (EST)
- I think that the icons is a stretch.--Riddler 13:53, 25 January 2007 (EST)
- Perhaps, but it's no more of a stretch than the [pasta] or the [stick]. It's all in how you interpret. --Yoshie 14:38, 25 January 2007 (EST)
- True, I didn't even fully believe the pasta was the symbol. The stick isn't a stretch at all. With this layout of icons, I don't think it'd form the symbol because it wouldn't extend past that top rung, since there is no icon.--Riddler 14:42, 25 January 2007 (EST)
- I'm just not buying the desktop icons. All other occurances have been connected. Also, the top line is misleading since an extra icon would have to have been added in order to connect the dots. Besides, I don't even think the (wrongly) connected dots look like the symbol. But that's just me. :) - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:47, 25 January 2007 (EST)
Symbol on Niki's Map
I recently read on a fansite that the symbol appeared on Niki's map she found in the trunk of the red car (telling her where to take the bodies of the Linderman's thugs). I couldn't tell from the version of Don't Look Back I saw on NBC, but their quality is not very good. Anybody see the symbol there? - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:14, 3 January 2007 (EST)
- I checked the episode. Nothing. There are streaks of blood on it, but none are shaped like the Symbol.--Hardvice (talk) 11:54, 3 January 2007 (EST)
- Thanks. (stupid erroneous fansite.) - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 12:21, 3 January 2007 (EST)
Best Translation of the "Symbol"
By far the best explaination for the symbol's meaning comes from here:
In Episode 12 "Godsend", Ando say that the Symbol is made of two kanji : SAI and YO. Here's what i found about those Kanji (Chinese character also used in Japanese).
First, take a look at the picture in attachment. The first kanji is SAI. In the episode, the translation call it "Great talent". The real meaning of this kanji is Ability, Talent (other meanings not related to the show is omited here).
The other kanji is YO. The translation call it "Godsend". The real meaning of this kanji which is closer is actually "Reward" or "Granted". I can also mean "to cause" (used as a verb). - WeirdoBc
- Since Hiro and Ando explicitly interpreted the symbol this way, shouldn't we add images of these kanji to the symbol article?--E rowe 10:25, 23 January 2007 (EST)
- Yes, either from the episode itself (I recall that ando points out the characters on a scroll) or from a higher-quality picture. This may need to have its own section on the page. --Orne 11:50, 23 January 2007 (EST)
- The Kanji symbols should definitely be added with a good explanation. I suggest not using a screencap in this case (or at least using a screencap alongside a "real" image). - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:49, 23 January 2007 (EST)

The "Symbol" on Niki/Jessica
What is the basis for saying Jessica has the symbol and Niki doesn't?--E rowe 17:31, 23 January 2007 (EST)
- They've shown Niki's bare shoulder without it and Jessica's bare shoulder with it ... most notably, when she seduces Nathan, she has it, but when she wakes up the next morning, she doesn't. It also shows up during the middle of her fight with DL in "Better Halves", and throughout "Fallout".--Hardvice (talk) 17:33, 23 January 2007 (EST)

External Link for Kanji Symbols
The lead description says that the 2 symbols Ando saw were "Sai" and "Yo". Can we get either an external source or at least an image of these two symbols? - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 06:49, 24 January 2007 (EST)
Backward symbol on Hilt
I just noticed that the symbol on the hilt of the replica sword faces the opposite direction of every other occurrence of the symbol, including the one on the hilt of future Hiro's sword. Is the graphic we are using for that by any chance from a picture of a reflection of the symbol in a mirror?--E rowe 13:50, 25 January 2007 (EST)
In the parking garage

The article says the Symbol can be seen "on the first axel of the car Hiro and Ando are hiding under while trying to escape thugs" (The Fix). Is anybody else seeing this, or am I just so myopic that I'm overlooking something so obvious. Can we grab a screencap for Grandpa Ryan over here? Thanks! — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:16, 3 February 2007 (EST)
- I've seen the screencap. To say it's a stretch would be polite. There's a curved hose or oil line or something, no visible rungs. I can get a cap, but it's "in the sand when Niki buries the thugs" all over again, IMHO.--Hardvice (talk) 14:48, 3 February 2007 (EST)
- Here it is, with the most favorable light level adjustment I could make. The hose clip could be one rung, but that's it. A curve and one rung does not the Symbol make.
- I agree, doesn't look like it to me either. (Admin 15:04, 3 February 2007 (EST))
- No wonder I couldn't find it when I went back and rewatched. Is every curvature the Symbol now? In that cap, Ando's eyebrows resemble the Symbol more than the car's tube. Golly, and I thought I was going blind... — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:22, 3 February 2007 (EST)

Merge appearances with gallery?
Should we do away with the text list of appearances and just merge it with the gallery? That's what we did with Isaac's paintings and ... uh ... another article that had both which escapes me at the moment.--Hardvice (talk) 00:35, 12 February 2007 (EST)
