Heroes fall as Arthur Petrelli (guest star Robert Forster) declares war on wife Angela (Cristine Rose), son Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) and all that stand with them -- Kristen Bell, Brea Grant, Jamie Hector, Blake Shields and Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine guest star.

After a preemptive strike against Hiro (Masi Oka) and Ando (James Kyson Lee) in Africa, Arthur Petrelli (guest star Robert Forster) orders Knox (guest star Jamie Hector) and Flint (Blake Shields) to hunt down his son Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) and granddaughter Claire. Nathan (Adrian Pasdar) is stunned to learn his father is alive -- and leading a villainous charge to worldwide destruction. Meanwhile, back at Pinehearst, Sylar (Zachary Quinto) has a charged confrontation with Elle (guest star Kristen Bell). Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) begins testing his new, combined superpower formula. Later, with the others dead, injured or on the run, Matt (Greg Grunberg) attempts to wake Angela (Cristine Rose). Jack Coleman and Ali Larter star. Robert Forster, Brea Grant and Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine also guest star.

Fan Theories

• Arthur does not take Hiro's ability but merely erases his memory.
  • He could try to take his ability but maybe something interrupts the process, leaving Hiro's mind in tatters.
  • Arthur doesn't take Hiro's ability because he already has it, allowing him to teleport to Africa.
• The title refers to Mohinder's advancing development of an improved superpower formula and the possible future it will herald.
• The title refers to the fact another eclipse seems to be coming.
  • This makes the most sense since in the promo for the episode after Villains, Arthur was sitting in a room with several of the "villains" surrounding him, looking at a painting of the eclipse and saying "It's coming...".
• The catalyst is Claire.
  • The promos already stated this. Question is, why is she the catalyst?
    • Because Claire is the offspring of a natural genetic mutation and someone that has had their powers given to them artificially, giving her a unique genetic structure.
• Elle will beg Sylar to kill her because Arthur refuses to help, seeing no personal gain in taking an ability he already has.
  • He has absorbed all of Peter's abilities, but still he is seen trying to take Hiro's and Nathan's abilities. Both of which he must already have.
    • That is entirely speculation.
      • Arthur apparently takes powers so they cannot be used against him, not because he does not have them. Peter could have potentially acquired Arthur's initial power and then used it to strip his father of the ability to take powers away all together. He was a major threat to Arthur's plans. This is why he was relieved of his powers, whereas Elle and Nathan might not be considered threats at all. Adam's power was taken so Arthur could heal. Maya's power was taken to ensure Mohinder's assistance. Why he does not apparently take Hiro's ability could possibly be explained in that he cannot take a power he already has.
