|After the explosion at the Pinehearst Headquarters, Rachel Mills leaves the area in a cab. Some time later, she is being interviewed for a job. The interviewer asks her about her time as a U.S. Marine, and why he should even consider employing someone who screwed screwed up their career so badly. Rachel begins narrating her time in Iraq during the war.

In Iraq, Rachel is sent by Barton to aide a woman in a stopped car on a blazing, busy street. Rachel hears something beep and recalls how her grandfather used to tell her she had great hearing skills, and that they would save her life one day. Rachel approaches the car and hears someone walking away from the scene. By the time she gets there, the person is gone, and Rachel finds a piece of paper with a strand of digits written on it:

Suddenly, Rachel hears a bang and goes back to the checkpoint, where Barton and the Marines have been ambushed and subdued. Thick smoke is hissing out of canisters on the pavement. Rachel hears a shooting start, and makes out the sound of both sides' gunshots. She also sees a group of shooters wearing hazard suits and heading her way. Rachel runs into an alley, pursued, and turns around to face her pursuer, who turns out to be Ammar, the Marines' Iraqi translator. Rachel takes him deeper into the alley before the fighters can make him out as a traitor, and tells him that they need to escape the area. The player then has the option to either run into an apartment building or run out into the street.

If Rachel runs into the apartment building, Ammar and her hear voices in the building and can either flee to the roof or to the basement. If they go to the roof, they realize that no helicopters are around and come to the conclusion that they must wait and hope that the people of Ghanaf don't tell the militia where they are hiding. If they go down to the basement, they hear footsteps above them and reckon the the men must be very determined about carrying out the manhunt.

If Rachel runs into the street, she and Ammar are chased by the militia, and they can either steal a car or duck into a side-alley. If she steals the car, she points her gun at the driver and tells Ammar to tell him to exit the vehicle, but Ammar is away in an alley. Rachel realizes that it is too late and accompanies Ammar behind a dumpster. If Rachel ducks into the side-alley, she eavesdrops on two of the masked men and notices that they communicate in English and don't even look Middle Eastern.

Either way, Rachel takes out the piece of paper from before. She tells Ammar about it and mentions the erratic beeping sound she heard before finding it and wonders if the two things are connected.
