Illusion

As far as we know, invisibility usually does not extend to such a degree. The object was not displaced, merely concealed. I am guessing that this power is Illusion generation, as seen by the effect which is very similar to the effect that is associated with Candice Wilmer's ability. Just a thought.--Cerebro 20:08, 21 October 2009 (EDT)

  • Reality distortion ("The Prankster", Teddy): The ability to distort the reality of those around oneself. -- Mike the Man-child!
    • I think it was Illusion just like Candice, I think he was also the one who conceal the carnival from the police who's chasing Sylar, it was just a thought. --Darkfiremaster13 05:56, 22 October 2009 (EDT)
      • It also uses a "shimmering" effect similar to the one Candice used to use. - Hive 16:56, 23 October 2009 (EDT)

Cloaking

He is able to hide objects from view, but also could cover up the sounds of the carnival under his "cloak" so that the police were unaware. It can be seen as similar to Candice's power, but seems much more specific, as Candice could distort reality in several ways, while Teddy thus far has only shown the ability to cover things up.--Sander326 20:56, 27 October 2009 (EDT)

  • I like that name, it's kinda like a long range invisibility. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 20:21, 27 October 2009 (EDT)
    • Cool. This neatly describes what he did, and sounds good too.--Ratclaws 21:04, 27 October 2009 (EDT)
      • I like it as well --Vampirate68 | Talk | Contribs | 21:27, 27 October 2009 (EDT)
        • Me too. This is a good name for what we have seen of the ability.--Catalyst · Talk · HL 21:29, 27 October 2009 (EDT)
          • Although speculative, the name is great. AltesUTC CH
            • To cloak can be interpreted as to hide something from sight, which is exactly what Teddy did. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 16:09, 28 October 2009 (EDT)
              • Agreed. Describes perfectly what has been demonstrated on the show, and will do fine until we get a more definitive name. --Darmenos 11:05, 29 October 2009 (EDT)
                • I don't think it "describes perfectly" what we've seen...but I'm not opposed to the name. I think it's a good name. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:45, 29 October 2009 (EDT)
                  • Allow me to shamelessly kidnap this discussion, and direct your attention to a similar matter: can you see if you support calling Trevor's ability "Blasting"? All you need to know is in its talk page. Circumstances are similar to this. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 20:11, 29 October 2009 (EDT)
                    • *smiles innocently* You are very optimistic. I said "cloaking" may be speculative - I meant by that that Teddy may not hide objects, but literally make them vanish from reality and then return them. Like dimensional storage, I think. It could be also an example of illusion (suggesting that there was no container in the first place), or even telepathy... AltesUTC CH
                      • With the more peripheral characters, abilities may be more vague, but that hasn't stopped naming their abilities in the past (Sedation, Seismic burst, etc).--Sander326 15:52, 30 October 2009 (EDT)
                      • Also, if you go the route of saying his power is illusion or telepathy (where he has not demonstrated anything to that effect) then you can make the leap that any power is only illusionary and the world of Heroes is just a dream. And if Teddy's power was one of these more powerful abilities, wouldn't Samuel be shown using him for more offensive purposes?--Sander326 01:20, 1 November 2009 (EDT)
                        • How can you use illusion offensively? Unless it evolves somehow. And btw everyone knows that the world of Heroes is Mr. Muggles's dream. AltesUTC CH
                          • Please keep the Mr Muggles crap at Mr Muggle's page. Anyway, Candice used illusion offensively, just mentally offensively when she made the guy who hit her friend go crazy. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 12:41, 1 November 2009 (EST)
  • Hmm, this discussion has gotten a bit off track. It's quite simple: he cloaked the container. It didn't move, there is no evidence it went to another dimension, and illusion and telepathy are speculative. Powers are named on what we see of them (when the name isn't given, of course), not the fact that other powers can do the same thing (ex: Heating could be Microwave emission, but it was named on what we saw of it). What we saw him do was cloak it.--Ratclaws 18:05, 1 November 2009 (EST)
    • I really like the name Cloaking. Should we do one of those consensus things? -Vampirate68 | Talk | Contribs | 17:05, 3 November 2009 (EST)
      • Not just yet, take a look at edit summary for this edit. I think one day is enough, considering the message I left for the edit summary, it'll catch people's attention. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 17:43, 3 November 2009 (EST)
        • Yes! Finally it will become Cloaking!--Catalyst · Talk · HL 17:46, 3 November 2009 (EST)

Dimensional storage

Teddy's ability could also be Dimensional storage?

  • I believe it was considered somewhere, but since there's no indication the box went somewhere, it was ruled out. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 15:12, 1 November 2009 (EST)

Consensus reached?
