In 1961, Angela arrives at the Coyote Sands relocation center with her parents and her sister Alice. Alice has only packed toys and books in her suitcase, and Angela chides her for not bringing any clothes. Alice has trouble sleeping because her feet are cold, and Angela tells her that's because she didn't bring any socks, but she promises to get her some. When Angela escapes from the camp with Charles, Daniel, and Bobby, she buys some socks to take back to her sister, but hears about the massacre at the camp while they were away.

In the present day, Angela is reunited with Alice who has lived at Coyote Sands for nearly 50 years. Angela tells Alice she has a family, and tells her she has plenty of socks for her, and that whenever she needs comfort she gets another pair of socks.

When Sylar is in Matt's body and prepares to leave for New York, he is accused of having a gun. Sylar refuses saying he doesn't know how it got there, but Matt says that he made Sylar think that he was putting socks in his suitcase when in reality, he was putting a gun in there.

  • In Q&A on CBR, writers/producers Aron Coleite and Joe Pokaski gave the background story: "When I was growing up, one of my grandmothers' friends would eat an apple whole--she wouldn't leave an inch of it behind. She would even snipe at me when I left any of my core behind and she would finish it for me. I thought it was strange but I didn't ask her what it meant until much later in life. I learned that she was in a Concentration Camp in the Holocaust and her mother would steal apples for her. She never knew when she would get her next apple. I thought it was an appropriate story for Angela and her socks."
