Description

The tables are turned as H.R.G. attempts to gain the upper hand — H.R.G. (Jack Coleman) enacts his plan to take down the Carnival with the help of Lauren (guest star Elizabeth Rohm) and Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy). Sylar (Zachary Quinto) visits Matt (Greg Grunberg) looking to understand his desire to make a human connection, but Matt has a plan of his own. Meanwhile, Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) warns Emma (guest star Deanne Bray) of Samuel's (Robert Knepper) intentions after his grim vision of the future. Hayden Panettiere and Cristine Rose also star. Madeline Zima, Ray Park, Lisa Lackey, David H. Lawrence XVII, Dawn Olivieri, Harry Perry, and Todd Stashwick also guest star.

Fan Theories

  • As this would be episode 17, it will follow the pattern of Company Man and Cold Wars.
    • Samuel will fill Noah's usual role.
      • The title could refer to Sun Tzu's The Art of War in which he states that all war is deception.
  • Emma and Peter will discuss Peter's behavior in Close to You
    • She may possibly forgive him for destroying her cello.
  • Samuel will decieve his fellow carnival members.
    • Lydia will finally meet Peter and will convince him to act as a leader in The Carnival.
      • The Carnival will choose sides between having Samuel as a leader or having another person.
        • Peter will have a dream about Samuel losing control of his ability, destroying the world( sort of the painting in volume 3 and the Ted Sprague incident).
  • The title refers to Matt Parkman agreeing to help Sylar but it actually being a trick.
    • Sylar wants Matt to purge him from his powers, but Matt will try to kill him instead.
  • Lydia will leave the carnival, as she´s not scheduled to appear in the last 2 episodes.
  • Lydia will be killed by either Samuel or Noah as she is not seen in the next two episodes and it is unlikely she would leave her home.
  • Sylar will try and force Matt to help him purge him of his powers but Matt will get his son to do it.
