External Source or Image for the Symbol

Hi, 'ROESian. I noticed your addition to The Symbol - great stuff! I was wondering if you could provide either an external source for the kanji symbols, or at least a picture. That'd really be great stuff. Thanks! :) - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 06:52, 24 January 2007 (EST)

  • Hey there RGS- Everything I've put together so far about the kanji characters, which Ando says are combined to make The Symbol, "Sai" and "Yo", can be found redirected from this "snipped" url. I've listed a few websites that tell about those kanji characters, as well as one site that, with a java applet, I think, actually illustrates the order and direction of the strokes to produce each character. The text below the second set of strokes is set up as a link for some reason, and there are other formatting bugs that I have to figure out, but the rest of the information and urls seem to be working properly. There are some images of the kanji and two sets of screencaps from Godsend- one where Hiro is talking about Takezo Kensai and the other where Ando talks about the Symbol on the sword, which, I've learned, is called a "menuki", by the way. The meanings of the characters, which are found from the captions when Ando says the names of the characters, indicate that TPTB want Sai to mean Great Talent and Yo to mean Godsend. Take whatever you need, if any of the images or links to the sites are suitable. At least from what I've put together, you should be able to assemble something that works best for this wiki. (Tangent...) Do you know who is involved with the NBC HEROES wiki? It looked like when I last visited that submissions could only be sent to nbcskampy or something, but how do people sign up? The user list has increased from 20 members since Monday; does it depend on knowing a sysop or bureaucrat (or whatever the proper term for the person who creates accounts is)? - 'ROESian 13:27, 24 January 2007 (EST)
    • Thanks for the sites on the kanji symbols - I'll troll around and see what I can find...

As for the NBC wiki, a lot of people seem to be reporting problems with it. (There's a bit of discussion about it here, and other random places throughout the site.) It's odd to me that they require submissions to be approved - seems kind of counterproductive. That's about all I know about the NBC wiki. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:36, 24 January 2007 (EST)

Survival faction event messages

Just a heads-up since I saw you modifying the faction event messages on the Survival messages page: I noticed the wording for the choices are differing ever so slightly based on the faction's world-view, but it doesn't change the result (heroic vs. neutral/reclusive/villainous). So since the Undaunted faction was reclusive for a while, those may be the "reclusive" choices that you just updated to. I'm not sure, though, since it was a while ago, but I do know that I copied and pasted just like you.--MiamiVolts (talk) 19:29, 1 September 2009 (EDT)

  • No, you can check and compare the revisions - the only ones I edited were the first and similar second "default" ones which were the same for everyone when factions first started, and the revisions were based on the copy and paste job I put on the first page of the Undaunted thread, the screencap I took of that message and, for the last similar message on 1 Sep, from the screencap here. That first message was copied when I created the faction, when there wasn't a defined World View yet, iirc, so the wording should not have been different for any faction. And the one from September 1st is the same in wording as the one seen in a screencap from a player in a Heroic faction.
    • I think I already mentioned to you this on 9th wonders. There was a bug when factions first started that some, like my faction StreetLife, started off as villainous instead of neutral. They fixed it midway through the day.--MiamiVolts (talk) 16:28, 3 September 2009 (EDT)

Hello Hero

Hi Hero,
Thank you very much for your immediate reply :) It helped me a lot.
I wrote to you in 9th Wonders, however it didn't send my mail and it said that your box was full.
And, I'm sorry, I'm so late to reply back to you. I was awfully busy in real life during the week. I've a genetics master thesis to finish until January 20, and my hands are very tight. I'm doing hours of experiments in the lab, during the day and write them in the little timespan that's left to me.
I found out how to link correctly, in 9th Wonders btw, and I'll be writing back to you as soon as I can. I'll try to post you back from 9th Wonders but if I can't send it, I'll send from here.
Take care 'ρzn

Hi Roesian

Hi, I'd left you a message in 9th Wonders. Thought that you might not have seen it :) And sorry for having replied so late. Take care, -- Jan Rodrigo (talk) (contributions) 17:07, 24 August 2010 (EDT)
