As an aside, in the show this season, we saw a new character named Samuel, with a [[terrakinesis|power]] that is enhanced the more evolved humans that surround him. A lot of analogies to Knox there, imho, and yet, Samuel's power was never called 'enhanced terrakinesis' or 'super terrakinesis' in the show or Evolutions. As noted already, a certain amount of superhuman durability is inherently required to apply enhanced strength: if you're muscles can apply enough force to bend a steel bar, but your bones can't withstand that force, you'll break your own limbs. ** Though I do see your point, I think it's a bit different from Knox, since we know Samuel retains a minimal amount of power when alone, but there is no indication Knox has ''any'' ability when not in the presence of fear. And Knox's power isn't called 'strength...' some adjective is necessary. Also, tricky ground (pun intended) there, though. (('''This next part can be mostly ignored, as it is all completely hypothetical and does not need to be addressed...I just like seeing myself type sometimes''' ;))...It seems to imply that if we get another character that can manipulate the earth without the amplifying effect, we group them, and just say 'Samuel could do more because of the amplification part of his manifestation of the ability.' We'd also have to group characters that have more specific earth manipulation skills (eg - ability to cause earthquakes, but nothing else) there as well. The main problem would come, however, if we got an AT for someone else called 'seismic disruption' or something like that. ***I'm not sure the Samuel/Knox analogy is an accurate one. Samuel's power behaves in exactly the same way as all other Terrakinetics- he can manipulate the earth. All that makes him different is that he can do this more adeptly and easily the more people surround him. Knox's power does ''not'' behave in the same way as Niki or Scott's. To use a computer analogy, for Samuel the process is the same (moving the earth), but the output is different (he can perform feats well beyond those of other Terrakinetics). Knox, on the other hand, has it the other way around- his process is entirely different to Niki's (in that he must suck in the fear, as indicated in his AT, and Niki doesn't need to do anything), but the output in both cases is the same (they gain larger-then-normal strength). Therefore, we are right to list Samuel with the other Terrakinetics, and wrong to list Knox with the rest of our strongmen (and women), because it's the mechanism of the actual power itself that determines what it is, not its effects. Absolutely. I've always thought naming Niki's and Knox's abilities as the same is ridiculous, whatever the Assignment Tracker says. Micah has referred to it as Super strength only for Niki. Scott's ability was never really named. Michael and Knox's were both called Enhanced. As for Mohinder, I would say the same for Niki. If the page is nominated for a name change, then i think it should be changed, or decided on and the name change thing removed, as quickly as possible. * I'd say so, too. There's also a lot of discussion regarding consequential powers. Like Jessica needing enhanced durability because super strength requires she not injure herself or Nathan needing durability, too, to withstand supersonic flight. I think we'll find Nathan can be injured just as easily as someone else, but whether it's true or not is just a theory. We also have the related evidence of DL smacking her with a shovel and doing nothing more than knock her down by sheer momentum. If we accept the consequential powers then with the strength she has she might technically be able to stop bullets with her hand, but then she becomes virtually invulnerable and I suspect that wasn't their intention. The power Nathan has (which we have named "flight"), for instance, might be more than just the act of levitating and flying - there might be something inherently built in to help him resist injury while he's flying — but all that's speculation. I had tried to support it with evidence -- the fact being that she killed a room full of people within a very short period of time that Ando and Hiro were out of the money launderer's main room. The D.L./Jessica fights (particular the one at their house) also seemed to show Jessica "sped-up", she was moving pretty swiftly and caught D.L. quite off guard until he had time to react to what was happening. ** I'm just not seeing that her reflexes are enhanced. She usually has the element of surprise, since people don't expect meek little Niki to suddenly rip their arms off. Furthermore, she's not afraid to use guns, which would help in the mass combats. Terrakinesis analogy
As an aside, in the show this season, we saw a new character named Samuel, with a power that is enhanced the more evolved humans that surround him. A lot of analogies to Knox there, imho, and yet, Samuel's power was never called 'enhanced terrakinesis' or 'super terrakinesis' in the show or Evolutions. So for me, I think the point is that the ability is still terrakinesis, it just works differently.--MiamiVolts (talk) 04:34, 12 February 2010 (EST)

- Though I do see your point, I think it's a bit different from Knox, since we know Samuel retains a minimal amount of power when alone, but there is no indication Knox has any ability when not in the presence of fear. And Knox's power isn't called 'strength...' some adjective is necessary. Also, tricky ground (pun intended) there, though. ((This next part can be mostly ignored, as it is all completely hypothetical and does not need to be addressed...I just like seeing myself type sometimes ;))...It seems to imply that if we get another character that can manipulate the earth without the amplifying effect, we group them, and just say 'Samuel could do more because of the amplification part of his manifestation of the ability.' We'd also have to group characters that have more specific earth manipulation skills (eg - ability to cause earthquakes, but nothing else) there as well. The main problem would come, however, if we got an AT for someone else called 'seismic disruption' or something like that. Since we are effectively ignoring aspects of Samuel's ability in the name (meaning it is implied with plain old terrakinesis), we can assume they are byproducts and we'd have to change the page name if we got a better source (which isn't hard to do considering we don't have a canon one to begin with). --Stevehim 12:02, 12 February 2010 (EST)
- I'm not sure the Samuel/Knox analogy is an accurate one. Samuel's power behaves in exactly the same way as all other Terrakinetics- he can manipulate the earth. All that makes him different is that he can do this more adeptly and easily the more people surround him. Knox's power does not behave in the same way as Niki or Scott's. To use a computer analogy, for Samuel the process is the same (moving the earth), but the output is different (he can perform feats well beyond those of other Terrakinetics). Knox, on the other hand, has it the other way around- his process is entirely different to Niki's (in that he must suck in the fear, as indicated in his AT, and Niki doesn't need to do anything), but the output in both cases is the same (they gain larger-then-normal strength). Therefore, we are right to list Samuel with the other Terrakinetics, and wrong to list Knox with the rest of our strongmen (and women), because it's the mechanism of the actual power itself that determines what it is, not its effects. Absolutely. I've always thought naming Niki's and Knox's abilities as the same is ridiculous, whatever the Assignment Tracker says. Micah has referred to it as Super strength only for Niki. Scott's ability was never really named. Michael and Knox's were both called Enhanced. As for Mohinder, I would say the same for Niki. If the page is nominated for a name change, then i think it should be changed, or decided on and the name change thing removed, as quickly as possible. MIDAS 13:52, 1 March 2010 (EST)
