== Pheonix Mimicry ==

Although we have seen that picture of Draph with blue flames in his hands, it is an istory ability and should technically be under unseen, unless the pictures from istories count as seeing them. --[[User:Mc hammark|mc_hammark]] 12:45, 4 November 2009 (EST)
I think we need to designate between controllable and uncontrollable powers. For instance, Claire can't control her regeneration, and Matt's uncontrollable mind-reading has actually been the topic of one episode. Niki is possibly the best example of an uncontrollable power - and the cause of much of her consternation.

== I am adding a new section for Unclear abilities ==
On the other hand, Nathan can very much control his flying, as can D.L. his phasing, and the Haitian's memory manipulation.

The future terrorists ability and Rapid cellular regeneration are given the same amount of space on the page while the information abiliable about each one is as different as night and day. I have taken the liberty to add a new section to the article explaining this, and I submit to you all my proposal to make the page better.--[[User:IDoWhatMustBeDone|IDoWhatMustBeDone]] 14:20, 29 November 2009 (EST)
And then we have an unusual category that includes Peter Petrelli (who can't control his absorption, but can control some of the powers he absorbs), Isaac (who ''may'' only be able to control his power while under the influence), and Hiro (who is still learning to have control over his time warping).
*Eh, it may work on the page, but lets wait until RGS gives us the greenlight before changing it.--[[User:Piemanmoo|Piemanmoo]] 14:29, 29 November 2009 (EST)
**You would subject the quality of this wiki to one individual? Does he have absolute word over every edit? No true democracy has a king, and one perosn with that much power cannot run a true wiki. ***RGS isn't seen as a king, he's a well respected man with great network connections and is very well respected by nearly all users on the wiki. Most people will agree with him on most cases, myself included. --[[User:Mc hammark|mc_hammark]] 14:35, 29 November 2009 (EST)
****He's not the only person who decides things, but most everyone respects his opinion enough to ask him on most given issues. I'd say let him hear your proposal, and if he agrees with it you should be in the clear.--[[User:Piemanmoo|Piemanmoo]] 14:37, 29 November 2009 (EST)

== Now they're out in the open... ==
I know this is not an exhaustive list ... Does anybody have any ideas on the best way to include this information? [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|Ryangibsonstewart]] 19:06, 21 November 2006 (EST)

we can kinda expect to see a lot more evolved humans can't we? So for the new season, if we're creating articles for new powers, would it be best to call it "X's ability" until the most suitable name is decided upon. --[[User:Mc hammark|mc_hammark]] 12:50, 15 February 2010 (EST)

== Power Category's ==
==Subpowers of Telepathy==
* Should we put Matt's, The Haitian's and Eden's powers all under "telepathy"? They are sometimes considered subpowers of telepathy, so should we classify them as such, or leave them as distinct powers?[[User:Heroe|Heroe]] 19:54, 1 December 2006 (EST)
** Go head and reorganize it, but keep in mind that many pages out there reference the headers using ''Powers#PowerName'', so keep the headers of the subsections the same... --[[User:Orne|Orne]] 19:58, 1 December 2006 (EST)
***I don't think there's any need to reorganize the list. I think their powers (some of which are still pretty vaguely defined), are distinct enough that we don't need to group them quite yet. It's a good note, though. - [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 23:39, 1 December 2006 (EST)

I was thinking cant all of the powers stem from like 5 main ones eg, Telepathy: precognition, Mental manipulation, illusion, persuasion and more but I cant be bothered to list.
==Formatting==
Telekinesis (or a more primitive version of this) : Puppet master, Crumpling, Disintegration, Flight, Melting, and others in different ways RCR and impenetrable skin, some ability, phasing and invisibility. it goes on we should make some sort of category thing or something I don't know, a map?.
Something about the formatting of this article drives me crazy. The sections are so short that, with the horizontal lines, it looks like ruled paper. The TOC is too long, but without it there's no whitespace. I'm really not sure what we can do to fix it up, though. We need the section headings for links; otherwise, I'd suggest we just bung the whole thing into a table and call it a day. Maybe a layout more like [[Season One]], with the image next to each power, would make it a little less jarring. Anybody have any ideas?--[[User:Hardvice|Hardvice]] <small>[[User talk:Hardvice|(talk)]]</small> 05:14, 2 December 2006 (EST)
My point being All the ability's are linked and it would be a good idea to keep track of this, it would help alot in explaining where they originate and other stuff but its just a theory still. --[[User:Melkor111|Melkor111]] 18:35, 8 March 2010 (EST)
*Yes, that's exactly what we should do. If we add the pictures ''next'' to the powers, it will look great: less "text booky", more user-friendly, and just all-around prettier. A table, my first thought also, is not a good idea for the exact reason you stated. The only other suggestion I have is to change the <nowiki>==</nowiki> heading leveling to <nowiki>===</nowiki> - that would get rid of the lines. You know, computer paper instead of ruled paper ... I say go for the pics side-by-side with the power. Not every power will have a pic, perhaps, but it'll help tons. - [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 07:04, 2 December 2006 (EST)
*If you want to do it in your user namespace then that's fine, but we can't create links between abilities and how they work unless it's explicitly stated. Eg, the writers may decide that disintegration comes from the same family as invisibility. Don't ask me how, but we couldn't go against the canon information they gave us. The only ones you could really do it for, is the ones where they type was given on the assignment trackers. --[[User:Mc hammark|mc_hammark]] 18:39, 8 March 2010 (EST)
*I agree that it looks weird... and maybe putting the images in there would help break things up a bit. But I tend to see this as a symptom of a bigger... I dunno if I would call it a "problem", but the thing is that we, as viewers, don't know enough about how the powers work to describe them in more detail than "can fly" or "can control technology with the power of mind." I mean, I'm working on a theory on how time travel, prophecy and the possibility of predestination work on this show, but at this point, ninety percent is speculative and belongs on the Fan Theories page. (Which is fine; that's how good science fiction operates. The audience is playing along with the characters, trying to figure out how the world works.) At the end of the season we'll presumably know more about how these things work and we might be able to put together enough material on how (say) Sylar's initial power works to give it its own page, but right now one-sentence descriptions seem to be what we're stuck with. --[[User:Drl909|drl909]] 07:31, 2 December 2006 (EST)
*** We already have a page that pretty much does this. Check it out, it's called [[Fan Creation:Ability families|Ability families]]. <small>--[[User:HiroDynoSlayer|HiroDynoSlayer]] ([[User talk:HiroDynoSlayer|talk]]) 04/27/2010 13:27 (EST)</small>
**We will eventually move towards a page per power ([[Prophecy]] was just created), but right now, they are just blurbs. I ''do'' think, however, that we can add a little more info to each power. Additionally, I feel we should put some note as to whether or not the power is able to be controlled by the hero. - [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 08:14, 2 December 2006 (EST)
*I think it would look good with <nowiki>===</nowiki> like RyanGibsonStewart suggested. At least for now [[Powers]] is a sort of glossary of powers with straightforward descriptions of the powers. We refer to powers such as "spontaneous regeneration", but someone not familiar with the term needs a definition of that. Whether we'll ever need a single page per power I'm not sure, but until then I like to think of this page as a glossary. But a glossary with pictures is a very nice glossary indeed. :) ([[User:Admin|Admin]] 08:55, 2 December 2006 (EST))

== Alejandro's Ability ==
==New Format==
Okay, I made the changes, and I think it looks a ton better, and much more user-friendly. However, now it's glaring clear that we need some more pictures:
*Dream manipulation (can we get a screencap of Sanjog holding the ball, or beckoning to Mohinder?)
**One with Mohinder watching himself and Chandra would maybe make it clearer that it's a dream.--[[User:Hardvice|Hardvice]] <small>[[User talk:Hardvice|(talk)]]</small> 16:21, 2 December 2006 (EST)
***Duh, stupid me - yes, of course, that would be the perfect pic. - [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 16:45, 2 December 2006 (EST)
*Eidetic memory (I have no idea - maybe a picture of Charlie reading a book or speaking Japanese - maybe a screencap with captions?)
** Done. --[[User:Fcphantom|Fcphantom]] 15:30, 2 December 2006 (EST)
*** Thanks for getting the pic, [[User:Fcphantom|Fcphantom]]. I wish we could get one that more clearly illustrates her power (I know - how do you visually portray a freakin' awesome memory?). Are there any caps of her reading, or of her speaking Japanese with English subtitles? - [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 15:46, 2 December 2006 (EST)
**** Sure, there are pics of her speaking Japanese, but anyone can really do that. I like this pic because Charlie is looking up like she's accessing a memory. It's the only real visual cue people give about memory. --[[User:Fcphantom|Fcphantom]] 16:58, 2 December 2006 (EST)
***** Okey-dokey. The quality of the pic is a little poor, so it's hard to tell she's looking up. But you're right - that's a pretty visual example of memory access. - [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 17:05, 2 December 2006 (EST)
*Enhanced reflexes (I personally don't think this is really confirmed as a legit power, and I can't think of any examples from the show. Any suggestions?)
** The enhanced reflexes part always bugged me too since there's never been a clear instance of it. It's even more speculative than Sylar's identifying-flaws-in-complex-systems power that we don't have up. It's gone. --[[User:Fcphantom|Fcphantom]] 12:18, 2 December 2006 (EST)
***Good move. - [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 16:45, 2 December 2006 (EST)
*Enhanced strength (anything with Jessica bullying - maybe the shot of her heel on the hotel thug's temple, or anything from the fight with D.L.?)
**How about throwing her father against the wall? - [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 16:45, 2 December 2006 (EST)
*** The only visual that shows her strength that I remember is when she tossed DL in their bedroom. I don't have that ep downloaded though. --[[User:Fcphantom|Fcphantom]] 16:58, 2 December 2006 (EST)
*Mental Power Suppression (Another tough one - um, a picture of the Haitian just standing there?)
* We should resize this one, or get one of the Haitian, Bennet, and Eden from 6MA--[[User:Hardvice|Hardvice]] <small>[[User talk:Hardvice|(talk)]]</small> 16:21, 2 December 2006 (EST)
**Yeah, I guess the 3 of them standing together is the clearest illustration of this - [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 16:45, 2 December 2006 (EST)
*** On it. --[[User:Fcphantom|Fcphantom]] 16:58, 2 December 2006 (EST)
*Suggestion (Geez, I don't know, maybe the shot of Eden whispering to Isaac? Can we imbed an audio clip (or YouTube clip like [http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Youtube Lostpedia] does) with that cool vocal thing she does)
** I tried for the whispering in Isaac's ear screen cap, but it was an extreme closeup. I could get the shot of her suggesting to Matt in Six Months Ago.
***That'd be alright, I guess. As long as it's clear that she's influencing Matt, or that she has the upper hand in their conversation... I don't know - let's see what you get. - [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 15:46, 2 December 2006 (EST)
*And finally, all of Hiro's powers. Do we have a shot of all of them? I'm not sure I like them in subcategories, but so be it. Let's at least start with the other pictures.
** Done. --[[User:Fcphantom|Fcphantom]] 15:30, 2 December 2006 (EST)
***Looks great! - [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 15:46, 2 December 2006 (EST)
- [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 10:01, 2 December 2006 (EST)
One more note: I don't like the picture of Matt's telepathy. Maybe it's good because it's just something different, but maybe that's why I don't like it. I don't know - I would love something from the convenience store when he was feeling overwhelmed, or maybe a shot of him kind of touching/cupping his ear.
Okay, and one final note: I love that Power mimicry and Precognition are so close alphabetically because Peter Painting and Isaac Painting right above each other look great - and makes power mimicry all that more clear. - [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 10:04, 2 December 2006 (EST)
*I'd suggest making sure all powers line up vertically regardless of whether we have an image for them already or not. Using a table maybe? If this is already a problem solved elsewhere on the wiki, then great we can just incorporate it. ([[User:Admin|Admin]] 11:04, 2 December 2006 (EST))
**Alrighty, I added some extra pics, just so the layout was consistent, and all the powers were flush with each other. I just used pics that were already uploaded, so they're not the best. If someone could still grab the screencaps listed above (in all your free time, of course), those would work best I think... - [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 14:09, 2 December 2006 (EST)
*Can anyone grab a screenshot of when D.L. was passing his arm through the car window when he/Micah and Hiro/Ando came upon the car crash? There is a personal preference of mine in that, but I think it also better illustrates what he can do (especially if the screenshot shows the rippling of the glass around his arm). ([[User:Jared|Jared]] 1536, 2 December 2006)
**Will do.--[[User:Hardvice|Hardvice]] <small>[[User talk:Hardvice|(talk)]]</small> 16:21, 2 December 2006 (EST)

I think that it is time to give Alejandro's Ability a name and i think it would be good if we could call it - '''Poison Emission Neutralization''', because it gets rid of the poison caused by Maya's Ability. --[[User:JakeJ253|JakeJ253]] 00:15, April 8, 2010
==Subcategories==
*If you want to seriously discuss it further, start the discussion [[Talk:Alejandro's ability|here]]. But read through the page first just to make sure your suggestion hasn't been suggested before. --[[User:Mc hammark|mc_hammark]] 20:18, 7 April 2010 (EDT)
Is anyone opposed to getting rid of the "Space/time manipulation" category, and just making its three subcategories main categories? I don't like the way it looks - kind of pointless. It's much better when organized with every power a regular category (like in [[Powers/Test]]). - [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 16:45, 2 December 2006 (EST)
* The only reason I'd like to keep them together (or combine them) is that Hiro has one power, not three. Based on the previews for Monday's show, I think we should be careful to stick to the one hero=one power rule as much as possible.--[[User:Hardvice|Hardvice]] <small>[[User talk:Hardvice|(talk)]]</small> 17:38, 2 December 2006 (EST)
**Good point, duly noted... If we go with the [[powers/Test|new powers page]], should we (could we) add in the "Space/time manipulation" to the subcategories? - [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 21:10, 2 December 2006 (EST)

==Hiding Contents Bar==
==Medical Conditions==
* Is there a way to hide the contents bar by default? All that white space at the top of the page is really bugging me. --[[User:Fcphantom|Fcphantom]] 12:35, 2 December 2006 (EST)
** There is: <nowiki>__NOTOC__</nowiki> will do it ... but I think if we're keeping this as a glossary-style page, we need a TOC. But I agree with the annoying space - maybe we could have the powers start right away, or fill in the white space with text or images? I don't have any concrete ideas. - [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 13:08, 2 December 2006 (EST)
*** I think there's all that white space because of the break-clear-all tags, which is counteracting the table-of-contents-right wiki command. They are not normally required. --[[User:Orne|Orne]] 13:30, 2 December 2006 (EST)
**** All better. Used clear="left" instead of clear="all". That way, the text flows around the TOC, but the left-aligned images stack.--[[User:Hardvice|Hardvice]] <small>[[User talk:Hardvice|(talk)]]</small> 13:54, 2 December 2006 (EST)
*****Thanks, [[User:Hardvice|Hardvice]]! Glad you have the know-how! - [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 13:56, 2 December 2006 (EST)

I was thinking someone should add a page for each Powers Medical Condition/Mental Conditions. What I mean is, each Power it seems has its own Medical Condition or Mental Condition to the user such as "Intuitive Aptitude" has a Addiction/Hunger to learn more and more. Space-Time Manipulation Users seem to get Tumours such as Hiro and Arnold got Tumours eventually from using their power. Enhanced synesthesia seems to Manifest in people with their Senses Damaged such as Emma. Shape-Shifting seems to have the User (Sylar) grow a Split Personality. Regeneration seems to have the user lose all sense of Pain like with Clair and Electric Manipulation seems to Overload like with Elle. And Mohinders old power seemed to grow scales,cause Aggression and so on. --[[User:Alessia1111|Alessia1111]] 13:54, 20 May 2010
==Images==
*We don't really need to have articles or an article for that. Each "condition" is explained on the ability page, as it is a side effect of the ability. --[[User:Mc hammark|mc_hammark]] 13:59, 20 May 2010 (EDT)
I can grab a couple screencaps when I finish the [[prophecy]] images. We should probably standardize the image size ... it just looks better when we have a series of images regularly arranged on the screen to have them all match. Or at least it does to my type-A eyes.--[[User:Hardvice|Hardvice]] <small>[[User talk:Hardvice|(talk)]]</small> 16:14, 2 December 2006 (EST)

== Teleportation Pic ==
== Adding another column ==

I was thinking about some of the powers and maybe we could add a new column like "activated". As you all know, some powers are used by person's will. Like flying for example. You need to "activate" it. But other powers like enhanced hearing, memory or lie-detection. Or Ted's radioactivity and causing his wife's cancer.
I'm still of the opinion that the pic of [[:Image:1x01hirotimessquare.JPG|Hiro in NY]] is a better choice for showing teleportation - it's more cinematic. It would need to be resized, though.
It would actually be cool to see the pic of [[:Image:Power time travel.jpg|Hiro on the subway]] as "icon" for the [[timeline]]. Any thoughts? - [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 16:49, 2 December 2006 (EST)
* The funny thing is - the subway is actually a better pic for time travel because of the clock, even though the scene is more about teleporting to NY. I guess my overall opinion is to combine them into space-time manipulation and use the pic of him disappearing in the diner. --[[User:Fcphantom|Fcphantom]] 01:53, 3 December 2006 (EST)

As positive examples
==Suggestion==
- Bob can touch object without turning them into gold
Two possible images for Eden:
- Super powered characters do not rip apart every door handle they touch
- D.L. does not phase through everything and sink into ground
- Super speed users can run without their super-speed mod
- Telepathy does not work unintentionally and drive you nuts
- Hiro does not stuck in a frozen-time world, he can control it
- Invisiblity does not cause a character to disappear forever, they can become visible or choose to make something invinsible
They all have control over their abilities

As negative examples
[[Image:Powers_eden.jpg|frame|Better picture, looks creepy, but no indication what she's doing.]]
- Peter mimics other abilities unwillingly (like he picked up Ted's ability at Kirby Plaza)
[[Image:Powers_eden_2.jpg|frame|Clearly shows the effect, but not the cause, and not a good picture.]]
- Healing ability is like a curse, you can not injure yourself, the power is in control
- Enhanced hearing became a problem for it's user so she was listening to rap music in order to reduce it's focus
- Enhanced Memory was unwillingly working
- Hana Gitelman could see all text messages in the air and could not stop it.
- Again, Ted's radioactivity
- Enhanced synesthesia users could see sounds but could not block it, they see everything
- Lie detection always makes thingling
- Mohinder's first ability (before fixing the serum) caused him to change his appearance unwillingly and decayed his body.
- Precognitive dreaming does not work with sleeping pills, the ability chooses to work during natural sleep
These abilities (and maybe others i missed) are like curse, the user cannot have full control over them.

--[[User:Sekobro|Sekobro]] ([[User talk:Sekobro|talk]]) 20:39, 3 August 2015 (EDT)
*Thanks for the choices! I vote for the first - unless you know the story, looks like a normal street scene. The first is a better pic, and shows Eden obviously up to something. I say the first is the better pic. (Was the closeup of Eden whispering to Isaac ''too'' close? ... Also, I'd still love to have an audio clip of that vocal thing the producers give her when she uses her powers.) - [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 23:26, 2 December 2006 (EST)
* It's a good suggestion, and one that we had here for awhile. In fact, I suggested the same thing [[Talk:Powers/Archive 1#Controllable/Uncontrollable|way back when]]. After we had more complex powers, and several powers that we really didn't know much about (like we have now), there was [[Talk:Powers/Archive_1#Activation Categories|more talk]] about that categorization and how problematic it can be. It comes down to this: so many of the powers either are very undefined and so we don't know how they're activated, or their activation changes as characters learn to gain control over them (or sometimes lose control over them), or it's too easy to confuse how the powers are activated and how the characters deal with their powers. So [http://heroeswiki.com/index.php?title=Template:Powers&oldid=9184 in the beginning] we had an option for the "type" of power (meaning controlled, uncontrolled, induced, emotional, automatic), but ultimately we decided it was best to [http://heroeswiki.com/index.php?title=List_of_abilities&diff=9323&oldid=9201 get rid of it]. And that, my friend, is your Heroes Wiki history lesson for the day! :) -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 00:12, 4 August 2015 (EDT)
** Re Eden whispering in Isaac's ear: yes. You can barely distinguish her face from his and her mouth is turned almost out of view.--[[User:Hardvice|Hardvice]] <small>[[User talk:Hardvice|(talk)]]</small> 23:36, 2 December 2006 (EST)
** Wow, thanks mate. Then I'm gonna work on similarities between The Crow movies, and heroes. Hi I wasn't sure where I should ask this but I was looking through the list of powers and noticed that the character Maria Roberts who was in Draph's storyline wasn't put on the list and she (Maria) has Ability Channeling. Just thought I would let you guys know since I'm not exactly sure where on the list she would go. [[User:Shelby9291|Shelby9291]] ([[User talk:Shelby9291|talk]]) 04:54, 7 October 2015 (EDT)

* Great question! It comes down to an issue of [[canon]]. [[Draph]]'s story in [[Slow Burn]] is part of our canon (or near canon), but [[Heroes: Survival]] profiles are not. We mention them on the character's page, but that's about it. Hope that helps explain! :) -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 08:55, 7 October 2015 (EDT)

== Writing dead ones in italic ==
Wow, this page has gone through a lot of edits recently! I really like the table format - it surpassed my expectations. And bravo for making the links jump right to the power - well done! A few comments:
*Does anybody mind if we change "controlled" to "controllable"? (Poor Hiro doesn't always have control, yet it says he does...)
*I'm still not digging the Space/time manipulation category - okay, I've accepted its existence, but it's not clear that Chronokinesis, Teleportation, and Time travel subcategories. I don't have any suggestions, just bringing up an issue.
Again, I think it looks fantastic! - [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 01:07, 3 December 2006 (EST)

I actually have an issue with the way the powers are labeled right now. If Ted's power is 'emotional,' does that mean Flight went from an 'emotional' (Nathan's car crash made him afraid, which triggered the power) to a 'controlled' power? The same goes for Precognition. As Peter showed, the power itself is not induced, it is only Isaac that needs help to bring his power out. These things are subjective labels based upon the person's ability to use their power, not accurate labels of the power itself. The bar scene where Matt sees the Haitian suggested to me that Matt had some ability to focus his ability (where he stared at people and their thoughts came in).

Anybody?--[[User:Sekobro|Sekobro]] ([[User talk:Sekobro|talk]]) 06:15, 25 January 2016 (EST)
I would suggest a separate set of labels. Innate (as in does not need to be learned or consciously controlled and affects only the possessor): Ranges from Claire's healing (it happens when it can, can not be stopped) to Niki/Jessica's physical prowess to Charlie's memory. Reactive: Peter's power mimicry, perhaps, as it triggers when he's near a Hero and decays away afterwards. Controllable: Most abilities seen. Uncontrollable: Not sure we've seen any powers that are uncontrollable yet, but I'm just putting it up here.
* I don't think the wiki should call an ability deceased. I think it could be more trouble than it's worth to update the list of abilities to note the deceased possessors in italics. That said, I'm not opposed to noting deceased possessors in italics.--[[User:MiamiVolts|MiamiVolts]] ([[User_talk:MiamiVolts|talk]]) 12:20, 25 January 2016 (EST)

** That was the thing I meant by saying dead ones. Writing dead people in italic.--[[User:Sekobro|Sekobro]] ([[User talk:Sekobro|talk]]) 13:19, 25 January 2016 (EST)
These labels describe how the power functions, not the level of mastery each Hero has over their power. That's why I would prefer them. [ [[User:Jared|Jared]] 1300, 3 December 2006 (EST) ]
*** I'm not opposed, but it's definitely not necessary, and seems to be more trouble than it's worth. Just creating more maintenance for ourselves... -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 16:39, 25 January 2016 (EST)

**** I can take care of the page for now and make the changes, if that's ok. But if you guys say it's unnecessary that's ok too.--[[User:Sekobro|Sekobro]] ([[User talk:Sekobro|talk]]) 14:35, 26 January 2016 (EST)
==Dealing with Sylar==
***** It's unnecessary, but I'm not in charge of the wiki. I'm an administrator here, but I very much believe in collaborative efforts and in the community aspect of the wiki. You are part of the community. If you want to make all the dead people italicized and are willing to do the work for it, feel free. It seems like added work and unnecessary to me, but I'm just one person with just one opinion. Feel free to make the change if you'd like. :) -- {{User:Ryangibsonstewart/sig}} 14:42, 26 January 2016 (EST)
For powers Sylar has, should we label possessors like "Sylar (from Brian Davis)" instead of "Sylar, Brian Davis"? This kind of format would be clearer and more flexible for any future curveballs thrown by the writers where multiple people have the same power.
*If "Sylar, Brian Davis" is confusing, you can list that the power is possessed by "Sylar, and Brian Davis" - [[User:Ryangibsonstewart|RyanGibsonStewart]] ([[User talk:Ryangibsonstewart|talk]]) 15:45, 3 December 2006 (EST)

Pheonix Mimicry

Although we have seen that picture of Draph with blue flames in his hands, it is an istory ability and should technically be under unseen, unless the pictures from istories count as seeing them. --mc_hammark 12:45, 4 November 2009 (EST)

I am adding a new section for Unclear abilities

The future terrorists ability and Rapid cellular regeneration are given the same amount of space on the page while the information abiliable about each one is as different as night and day. I have taken the liberty to add a new section to the article explaining this, and I submit to you all my proposal to make the page better.--IDoWhatMustBeDone 14:20, 29 November 2009 (EST)

  • Eh, it may work on the page, but lets wait until RGS gives us the greenlight before changing it.--Piemanmoo 14:29, 29 November 2009 (EST)
    • You would subject the quality of this wiki to one individual? Does he have absolute word over every edit? No true democracy has a king, and one perosn with that much power cannot run a true wiki. Indeed, we are the ones really in charge. The editors.--IDoWhatMustBeDone 14:33, 29 November 2009 (EST)
      • RGS isn't seen as a king, he's a well respected man with great network connections and is very well respected by nearly all users on the wiki. Most people will agree with him on most cases, myself included. --mc_hammark 14:35, 29 November 2009 (EST)
        • He's not the only person who decides things, but most everyone respects his opinion enough to ask him on most given issues. I'd say let him hear your proposal, and if he agrees with it you should be in the clear.--Piemanmoo 14:37, 29 November 2009 (EST)
      • This is not a democracy. And this is not Wikipedia. We've been over this. --Ricard Desi (t,c) 14:39, 29 November 2009 (EST)
        • I can see that the nature of this wiki is in need of much help. I shall return tomorrow with more edits at the ready, and shall improve quality of pages once more--IDoWhatMustBeDone 14:44, 29 November 2009 (EST)
          • "You would subject the quality of this wiki to one individual?" --Ricard Desi (t,c) 14:46, 29 November 2009 (EST)
          • It's nice to know some people from the 1800's still post on the internet. --Piemanmoo 14:47, 29 November 2009 (EST)
          • Tomorrow will either be funny, or a giant headache. Likely both. But a section for unclear abilities is worth considering… if there were more than two.--Ratclaws 14:53, 29 November 2009 (EST)
            • Most likely its going to be a headache, a lot of undo's to be done :( -- Leckie
              • Yeah, but I'll miss him when he's banned, he's good to laugh at. But who knows, maybe he will just suggest what he wants in that 1800's way of his, and they will all be good ideas.--Ratclaws 16:16, 29 November 2009 (EST)

Now they're out in the open...

we can kinda expect to see a lot more evolved humans can't we? So for the new season, if we're creating articles for new powers, would it be best to call it "X's ability" until the most suitable name is decided upon. --mc_hammark 12:50, 15 February 2010 (EST)

  • Unless it's explicitly named (or apparent that it is an already-known ability), then yes. --Ricard Desi (t,c) 13:31, 15 February 2010 (EST)

Power Category's

I was thinking cant all of the powers stem from like 5 main ones eg, Telepathy: precognition, Mental manipulation, illusion, persuasion and more but I cant be bothered to list. My point being All the ability's are linked and it would be a good idea to keep track of this, it would help alot in explaining where they originate and other stuff but its just a theory still. --Melkor111 18:35, 8 March 2010 (EST)

  • If you want to do it in your user namespace then that's fine, but we can't create links between abilities and how they work unless it's explicitly stated. Eg, the writers may decide that disintegration comes from the same family as invisibility. Don't ask me how, but we couldn't go against the canon information they gave us. The only ones you could really do it for, is the ones where they type was given on the assignment trackers. --mc_hammark 18:39, 8 March 2010 (EST)

Alejandro's Ability

I think that it is time to give Alejandro's Ability a name and i think it would be good if we could call it - Poison Emission Neutralization, because it gets rid of the poison caused by Maya's Ability. --JakeJ253 00:15, April 8, 2010

  • If you want to seriously discuss it further, start the discussion here. But read through the page first just to make sure your suggestion hasn't been suggested before. --mc_hammark 20:18, 7 April 2010 (EDT)

Medical Conditions

--Alessia1111 13:54, 20 May 2010

  • We don't really need to have articles or an article for that. Each "condition" is explained on the ability page, as it is a side effect of the ability. --mc_hammark 13:59, 20 May 2010 (EDT)

Adding another column

I was thinking about some of the powers and maybe we could add a new column like "activated". As you all know, some powers are used by person's will. Like flying for example. You need to "activate" it. But other powers like enhanced hearing, memory or lie-detection. Or Ted's radioactivity and causing his wife's cancer.

As positive examples - Bob can touch object without turning them into gold - Super powered characters do not rip apart every door handle they touch - D.L. does not phase through everything and sink into ground - Super speed users can run without their super-speed mod - Telepathy does not work unintentionally and drive you nuts - Hiro does not stuck in a frozen-time world, he can control it - Invisiblity does not cause a character to disappear forever, they can become visible or choose to make something invinsible They all have control over their abilities

As negative examples - Peter mimics other abilities unwillingly (like he picked up Ted's ability at Kirby Plaza) - Healing ability is like a curse, you can not injure yourself, the power is in control - Enhanced hearing became a problem for it's user so she was listening to rap music in order to reduce it's focus - Enhanced Memory was unwillingly working - Hana Gitelman could see all text messages in the air and could not stop it. - Again, Ted's radioactivity - Enhanced synesthesia users could see sounds but could not block it, they see everything - Lie detection always makes thingling - Mohinder's first ability (before fixing the serum) caused him to change his appearance unwillingly and decayed his body. - Precognitive dreaming does not work with sleeping pills, the ability chooses to work during natural sleep These abilities (and maybe others i missed) are like curse, the user cannot have full control over them.

--Sekobro (talk) 20:39, 3 August 2015 (EDT)

  • It's a good suggestion, and one that we had here for awhile. In fact, I suggested the same thing way back when. After we had more complex powers, and several powers that we really didn't know much about (like we have now), there was more talk about that categorization and how problematic it can be. It comes down to this: so many of the powers either are very undefined and so we don't know how they're activated, or their activation changes as characters learn to gain control over them (or sometimes lose control over them), or it's too easy to confuse how the powers are activated and how the characters deal with their powers. So in the beginning we had an option for the "type" of power (meaning controlled, uncontrolled, induced, emotional, automatic), but ultimately we decided it was best to get rid of it. And that, my friend, is your Heroes Wiki history lesson for the day! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:12, 4 August 2015 (EDT)
    • Wow, thanks mate. Then I'm gonna work on similarities between The Crow movies, and heroes. The had precognitive dreaming, precognition(yep, drawing it into a picture), healing, supert strength and other stuff. They even had Hiro's teleportation here sound in it before Heroes. --Sekobro (talk) 17:31, 5 August 2015 (EDT)

Maria Roberts

Hi I wasn't sure where I should ask this but I was looking through the list of powers and noticed that the character Maria Roberts who was in Draph's storyline wasn't put on the list and she (Maria) has Ability Channeling. Just thought I would let you guys know since I'm not exactly sure where on the list she would go. Shelby9291 (talk) 04:54, 7 October 2015 (EDT)

  • Great question! It comes down to an issue of canon. Draph's story in Slow Burn is part of our canon (or near canon), but Heroes: Survival profiles are not. We mention them on the character's page, but that's about it. Hope that helps explain! :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:55, 7 October 2015 (EDT)

Writing dead ones in italic

How does that sound? --Sekobro (talk) 07:47, 23 January 2016 (EST)

Anybody?--Sekobro (talk) 06:15, 25 January 2016 (EST)

  • I don't think the wiki should call an ability deceased. I think it could be more trouble than it's worth to update the list of abilities to note the deceased possessors in italics. That said, I'm not opposed to noting deceased possessors in italics.--MiamiVolts (talk) 12:20, 25 January 2016 (EST)
    • That was the thing I meant by saying dead ones. Writing dead people in italic.--Sekobro (talk) 13:19, 25 January 2016 (EST)
      • I'm not opposed, but it's definitely not necessary, and seems to be more trouble than it's worth. Just creating more maintenance for ourselves... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:39, 25 January 2016 (EST)
        • I can take care of the page for now and make the changes, if that's ok. But if you guys say it's unnecessary that's ok too.--Sekobro (talk) 14:35, 26 January 2016 (EST)
          • It's unnecessary, but I'm not in charge of the wiki. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:42, 26 January 2016 (EST)
