Gretchen, determined to get to the bottom of the mystery of Annie's death, decides to investigate further. She explains to Claire that they should obtain a dummy or dead body to drop out of the window to see how far away it lands. Gretchen explains that depending upon the distance, one can determine whether Annie accidentally fell, committed suicide, or was a victim of defenestration. When Claire asks Gretchen how she knows so much about the subject, Gretchen explains that she learned from an episode of Crossing Jordan.
