* We do have summaries on the HEV's [[Sword Saint]] and on the [[GNI]] Drucker documentary. The rest of the HEV's we do not have summaries of, and youy are right in that we should have a direct link. Over the weekend, I'll check to see if the direct links to the videos work. I haven't yet because I have quite a bit of homework for my two math classes (College-level Algebra and Trigonometry) during the week. --{{User:SacValleyDweller/sig}} 01:19, 6 March 2009 (EST)

Edits to your userpage

Hey there. I notice you've been making an awful lot of edits to User:Janrodrigo/Volume 1 Characters‎. In the future, it would be much appreciated if you could refrain from doing this by using the "Show Preview" button to proofread your edits before you save them. This way, it reduces the amount of work that Patrollers have to do. Thanks. -Sincerely, Thrashmeister » talk- 11:24, 14 February 2009 (EST)

  • You've been doing a great job. All of the edits you've made are great, which is quite impressive considering English isn't your native language, is it? You've been doing a better job at editing than some native English speakers here on the Wiki! It's also really nice that you're taking the initiative to improve upon yourself and upon the Wiki. That's a good life attitude. Keep up the good work! -Sincerely, Thrashmeister » talk- 11:14, 15 February 2009 (EST)

On your Publishing Chronology....

Keep working on it if you like, but I've already gone through the trouble of doing that. ;) --SacValleyDweller (talk) 20:01, 15 February 2009 (EST)

  • Ok, I see you copied mine and added some things to it. Up till January 26, 2009, a user by the name of Heroes360 has kept records of Evolutions site updates and the like on his page. Some feedback:
    1. The colored media note about the canon/non-canon GNs is fact mixed with my own personal opinion. I do not know if you agree with the opinion part it or if anyone else here does. If you do agree with my opinion, you can leave it in there. if you do not you should consider removing or rewording in accordance with your own opinion with regard to the media.
    2. The extra notation is hard to understand, and it might be helpful to explain how to read it or what it means somewhere on the page (Im assuming release dates?).
    3. I am a little uncomfortable with it mirroring my own page so closely. If all you are going to do is copy my page as your page and put Heroes website updates and release/air dates in it, we might as well work together on incorporating that data into my page (I had been considering placing release/air date information in my page anyway, but I never added it because I've never needed that piece of information). That way we'll have one page with all the information rather than two almost identical pages with only minor differences between the two. --SacValleyDweller (talk) 00:43, 16 February 2009 (EST)
      1. Ok, since you have made progress on your modifications to my content, I'll take the content of your page and paste it over the content of mine. There, you can continue to add release date information and the Evolutions messages (you will be making changes to my page then, but I'm OK with that). I'll work on clarifying it, making sure it is grammatically correct, and formatting it such that it is easy to understand.
      2. I see now that some of your notation indicates the in-universe dates for the events that transpired in the media. While a good idea in it's own right, it does not fit with the purpose of my page, which is to outline when everything related to Heroes happened form the perspective of the real world. Because of that, that notation would not make it to my page. Another user by the name of Ricard Desi has a similar idea of breaking down when the events depicted in Heroes media happened in the Heroes universe, and might welcome your input, as he has stalled in his project.
      • So, shall we proceed? --SacValleyDweller (talk) 01:34, 16 February 2009 (EST)
        • After further consideration, your "Heroes World" dates (which are more properly referred to as in-universe dates) would be ok. I do have some information on the in-universe content of some media on the page already, so adding more in-universe information, formatted the same way, would be OK for consistency sake. I'll go ahead and paste your work on top of mine and clear your page now. After that, you can keep adding what you want, and I'll streamline it tomorrow. --SacValleyDweller (talk) 02:14, 16 February 2009 (EST)
          • It's done, continue work here! :) --SacValleyDweller (talk) 02:35, 16 February 2009 (EST)
            • On our collaboration, I reworked the intro to be more concise and I reformatted a few of your entries for the first few weeks to the way I think it reads the best. I also think, now that I look at it, numbering more than Webisodes, iStories, GN's and Episodes will make the page harder to read and understand. --SacValleyDweller (talk) 03:05, 23 February 2009 (EST)
              • So far so good. Keep going! :) However,a few stipulations:
One: (this is minor), in universe dates should be writen in the format "Month Day, Year," as that is the date format most familiar to Americans
Two: I think there is an excess of numbered things on the page now. Listing things like "HE S 2.02.13 PrimatechPaper.com The Rabbit Hole Opens" with the triple numbers is too much. Here's my line of thinking: The only things that need numbers are the bigger things that actually are numbered here at the wiki and are treated in special ways by our (the whole of HeroesWiki) documentation. These are the episodes, webisodes, GN's, and iStories (episodes, GNs, and webisodes have namespaces and related portals, iStory has the linked page and this portal) The rest, like in-character messages (Hana's messages for example) and changes to websites, despite most of those being numbered here too, are far too small and numerous to warrant numbering of that format on the page. The triple numbers make it harder to read for those who just stumble on the page and want to quicky skim its contents (such people were the page's intended readers). The numbering was only to equate the title of the work (ep, GN, etc.) with the number that HeroesWiki used to catalog it. The only thing I saw that needed the triple numbering (of the format 3.03.12) was the webisodes. The reason being was to give them a similar treatment to the episodes in that the first two functioned like an episode number (episode 3.03 = third season, third episode in the season; Web 3.03 = third arc of webisodes, third webisode in the arc). The last number I placed in the scheme because the Wiki didn't document the webisodes like that, only deciding to going with the simplistic straight numbering; number 1, number 2, number 3, etc. (the reasoning behind that policy was and is unimportant to me). Since you, I assume, are planning to put every single evolutions video (like the one that Drucker sent Hana) I think that the numbering of the videos should go as well. If you think that what I think does not need a number actually needs a number, a more simplistic numbering scheme may be better suited to the goal of ease of comprehension. --SacValleyDweller (talk)

It Takes a Village

I don't mind having articles about those characters, but group appearances (like the Tonton Macoutes) don't belong on appearance templates.

Thanks for the heads up about SVD's page. It's pretty awesome, isn't it? I had a similarly themed page a long time ago that I would use just to know when media was released. Sac has really taken his to a different level, so I made mine into a redirect to his. I believe Frank at HeroesARG references Sac's page quite regularly. Pretty cool! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:27, 28 February 2009 (EST)

  • Anyway, I have question. I thought you might help me. I don't much about these naming conventions but I would like to know if it would be proper to name: The Haitian's friend (I), The Haitian's friend (II), Leader of the Tonton Macoutes' local branch or something; under the appearances? What would be proper as I strongly opine that every character whether minor or major should be mentioned. --Janrodrigo 16:24, 28 February 2009 (EST)
    • Those names sound fine, though I would make the title of the Tonton Macoutes guy a bit simpler. "Tonton Macoutes leader" sounds fine to me. I know he's probably not the leader of the entire TM, but he's still a leader within the TM, so it's fine. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:56, 28 February 2009 (EST)
