Society's Purpose

I'm wondering if The Deveaux Society is like an Order of the Phoenix from the Harry Potter series since it appears that Claude has known about other Heroes before. Bkdelong 13:22, 12 February 2007 (EST)

No more Deveaux's left in the Society?

    • It isn't proven that she is dead yet, either. If it had been, her article here would call her deceased and so forth. "Deveaux"

Lead Image

• We have no idea whether Charles and/or Simone are involved in this so-far entirely hypothetical society. (In other words, Simone but not Charles could be a member, or Charles but not Simone could be a member, or both. Neither is confirmed.)   • So far it's a named group only by the writers and cast in interviews, and they've confirmed that Simone and Charles were re-surnamed so they could have the Deveaux society. That's the best information we have. Also, it's a dead group, but it's likely that it will be revived next season when we get a better look at the "generations" of the past.--MiamiVolts (talk) 16:31, 18 May 2007 (EDT)

    • And actually, considering the fact that the Society has still never been mentioned in the show, we don't really know that either Simone or Charles is necessarily a member or leader. For all we know, it's named for Simone's mother, or heretofore unmentioned brother, or third cousin, or whatever. All we know is that the desire to name the group "the Deveaux Society" prompted them to change Charles and Simone's surname from Deveraux to Deveaux. That doesn't necessarily mean that either is the Deveaux family member responsible for the Society. • I think it's OK to leave it. It's not really a "spoiler" in the sense that "Peter will kill Claire and dance in her entrails" is a spoiler; it's just based entirely on unaired info, but nothing's really spoiled. Either way, really.--Hardvice (talk) 17:03, 18 May 2007 (EDT)

Frustration

Okay, so I'm really frustrated. There's a lot of whitespace between template:noimage and template:infobox group. I tried about everything I know to try: I took out all superfluous spacing in both templates, I cut out any spacing in this article, I tried adding a picture, taking away the spoiler, whatever. Nothing works. More frustratingly, this version looks better (not right, but better). When I tried to change it to a better version with identical code, it said I made a change to the leaders line. Huh? Doesn't look like it to me. Anyway, I'm frustrated. Can somebody see if they can fix the spacing issue? Thanks! — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:47, 20 May 2007 (EDT)

Does anyone have sources for this entry? Where did the name "Deveaux Society" come from? Do we have any information on who were members? It looks like there is a fan site theory here on this page and that is it, and it sounds like we have 2 hypothetical members (Simone and Charles) and that is all. Tsarin 15:56, 20 May 2007 (EDT)

• Read the Notes section. Oliver Grigsby, a Heroes staffer, mentioned that the reason Simone's name was changed from "Deveraux" to "Deveaux" was so they could have the "Deveaux Society" (presumably, either the name is somehow significant, or they couldn't get legal clearance for "Deveraux Society"). That, and one interview with Tawny Cypress, and one of CBR's Behind the Eclipse interviews with writers Joe Pokaski and Aron Coleite are the only times it's been mentioned. So it's really three mentions by Heroes insiders, which makes it just a spoiler that may or may not ever come to fruition.--Hardvice (talk) 18:14, 20 May 2007 (EDT)

• I half agree with you. I think there should be some way for us to document and archive information about projects and ideas that were started but never came to fruition. Thinks like the Deveaux Society and Heroes: Origins would fit into that category. Maybe they wouldn't even be spoiler articles, but just a separate category under Category:Heroes for ideas that never came to pass. I mean, there are certainly people who are still coming here searching for "Heroes: Origins", so we should definitely retain some information about it. Of course, we would have t set criteria for what would be included and what wouldn't. Not every spark of an idea that the writers come up with needs its own article, of course. But certainly announced projects like Origins or the Deveaux Society need some documenting. The alternate ending for Season Two could probably be documented since it was very much a plan that was in effect, but was cut short by the writers strike. Perhaps even deleted scenes--since they were cast, filmed, and even released on DVDs--should go into that category...I'm just thinking out loud here... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 13:43, 14 September 2008 (EDT)
  • IMO, the right way to go by debunked storylines, is to treat them the same way as we treat cut scenes; in the Note section of proper articles (in this case Simone Deveaux). Regardin Origins, I definitely think we ought to keep Heroes: Origins, but include valid ex-spoilers in that article (since the project is off there really are no differences between spoilers and official details about them, except maybe that ex-spoilers might deserve to have better quotations.Pierre 14:19, 14 September 2008 (EDT)
    • • I like this idea. I think that if it's television material and it's not aired, it belongs in a notes section. I think with Origins, it should be put on the Season Two page, which I think it already is. It's also on the Heroes page, so notes about productions, including Origins, are documented.     • I think that we should keep everything that didn't make it into the main show. Think about the unaired pilot, we have about 20 articles about it, I think that one about this isn't too bad. I also think the alternate ending and deleted scenes deserve pages, and mayby we need a new portal for all this stuff.
