Searching for a woman who died in a fire 14 years ago, Claire discovers that then 21-year-old Meredith Gordon and her 18-month-old daughter were reportedly killed in a fire in Kermit, TX. Calling every number for a Gordon in the Kermit phone book, Claire reaches a woman who claims to be her birth mother.

Claire returns to Kermit seeking advice from her birth mother. Nathan travels to Kermit to give Meredith some money.

- Despite the fact that the town has a frog painted on its water tower and has named a street "Kermit the Frog Blvd.", it's not actually named for the Muppet amphibian. Instead, it's named for Kermit Roosevelt, son of U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt.
