Timelines

  • Universe A : Time travel to the past has never occurred (Genesis)
    • 13.5 BYA - October 1, 2006
  • Universe B : Hiro-A has travelled one minute into the past. He then travels to the future, disappearing for five weeks. (Genesis - Don't Look Back)
    • October 1, 2006 - November 8, 2006
  • Universe C : Hiro-A travels five weeks into the past. With his knowledge of what is to come, he convinces his friend Ando of his powers and they go on "vacation" to stop the explosion. Eventually he fails in his mission (Sylar regenerates) and comes up with the plan to "save the cheerleader, save the world." (Don't Look Back - Collision)
    • October 1, 2006 - November 8, 2011
  • Universe D : Hiro-D (affected by Hiro-A) continues on his journey with Ando, and is affected by Peter Petrelli's phone call, revealing Hiro-A and his new mission. He's deeply effected by Charlie's death, and attempts to stop it. (Collision - Seven Minutes to Midnight)
    • October 4, 2006 - October 10, 2006
  • Universe E : Hiro-D hangs out with Charlie in the past until she gives him bad news. He accidentally talks to his past self (Hiro-A turned Hiro-E) and changes Charlie's life around, until he accidentally travels to present-day Japan. He then meets up with Ando, and continues his journey. (Seven Minutes to Midnight - Unexpected)
    • April 24, 2006 - late October 2006
  • Universe F : Hiro-D reverses time to stop himself from being shot. He apparently somehow travels to the future. (Unexpected - Parasite)
    • late October 2006 - November 8, 2011
  • Universe G : Hiro-D and Hiro-A both arrive back in the future (apparently taking the place of a Hiro-F) and, although the cheerleader was saved, it is still very similar to Universe C. (Parasite - Five Years Gone)
    • November 8, 2011 - November 8, 2011
  • Universe H : Hiro-D arrives back to 2006 and vows to stop the explosion, again. He succeeds in stabbing Sylar and preventing the explosion. (Five Years Gone - How to Stop an Exploding Man)
    • November 6, 2006 - November 8, 2006
  • Universe I : Hiro-D arrives in ancient Japan and starts hanging out with Takezo Kensei. He also writes some scrolls for Ando-I and more than likely changes history alot. (How to Stop an Exploding Man - at least Fight or Flight)
    • 1671 - Present (April 2007)

The Symbol theory

The Symbol was the combination of the words for "godsend" and was likely included on Takezo Kensei's sword when it was given to him by the mysterious Swordsmith. Kensei would adopt the symbol over the coming years and it would be immortalized as his crest.

Despite it's connection to Kensei, enough to be included in references and in-depth documentaries (Sword Saint) to him, it was very unknown in most fields over the centuries. Many of those familiar with Kensei would be unfamiliar with his symbol. On the other spectrum, Linderman's curator was so fascinated with the Symbol, that he would shape obscure in his spare time to the shape.

Kaito Nakamura, a follower of Kensei's teachings, adopts the Symbol as the secret indicator of a Group of 12 connection. Mr. Petrelli's law firm, the Company, and Jittetsu Arms all adopt it per this edict. The Haitian begins working for Angela Petrelli and wears a Symbol necklace to note his allegiance (Peter's necklace may indicate the same thing). Jessica's tattoo was likely placed there by the Group of 12-affiliated Linderman Group.

Isaac Mendez and Peter Petrelli drew the symbol on many of their works precognitively as a boding of the events to come, relating to the Group of 12. Some of these Symbol drawings would catch on amongst comic book fans in New York, and a couple were known to play with their food and shape it this way.

The Bennets' home was decorated with Symbol-like design patterns on the windows, indicating it was a Company-bought and protected home. Claire saw these symbols and would occassionally copy it on some of her textbooks for fun.

Chandra Suresh adopted the symbol, unfamiliar with it's significance, in his works. He included it on the cover of Activating Evolution, and would often include it in little drawings on his notes. He would go so far as to hide a symbol-like shape in his own encryptions as a sort-of "signature," and buy vaguely Symbol-shaped items to decorate his place.

Sylar was familiar with the Symbol from his work with Suresh. He would draw symbols on the pictures of his next intended victims in his apartment. He also occassionally used his telekinesis to make little Symbol shapes while stalking his next victims. He got so used to it, that his TK did it apparently unconsciously.

Linderman would occassionally place the Symbol on little things (like buses) to hint to the Hawkins-Sanders that they were being and couldn't get too far, but they never caught on. Given the Symbol's connection to Jessica Sanders, Linderman easily equated the connection.

The hooded killer would draw the Group of 12 symbol on his "death threats," per previous Group of 12 policy (a warning to dangerous evolved humans). The Symbol between the eyes associated with the death threats scared Maury Parkman so much, that he sent out the basic fear of it telepathically to Molly Walker.
