Episode Notes

This obviously will be wanting cleanup, but here are my notes. I'm going to do some stuff to my recording and then I'll start uploading caps:

Heroes S03E07

Africa: Hiro and Ando are with Usutu. Hiro does not want to travel in time. [New painting, Mohinder standing against Nathan and Tracy.]

Mohinder's Lab: Mohinder removes Maya from her cocoon and leaps out the ceiling window.

Dream: Peter has flashbacks of Nathan telling him that his father is dead, his mother telling him things about his father, and Arthur stealing his abilities.

Pinehearst Company: Peter is handcuffed to a gurney. Arthur tells Peter that his abilities are gone permanently. Peter vows to stop Arthur and is extremely agitated because of Arthur's history of deceipt.

Title screen:

Bennet House (Costa Verde): Sandra and Claire arrive home in the SUV. They discuss the events of the prior episode where they confronted the puppet master. They find that the lights in the house are pulsing erratically. Lyle is found shocked in the hall and Elle is attempting to use Noah's computer, but is bristling with electricity, which is causing the screen and everything else to jitter and crackle with energy.

Bennet House (Costa Verde): Claire stands against Elle. Elle shocks her, but Claire is feeling no pain. She drags Elle towards the door and Sandra douses Elle with water. Elle says that she needs help, and has no where else to go.

Pinehearst Company: Maya is belted to a bed in a hospital room. Mohinder watches her through a window. Arthur comes and speaks with Mohinder. Monhinder tells Arthur that he promised to take away Maya's abilities. Arthur tells him that all he needs to do is watch, then goes into the room and steals Maya's power. Maya's face reveals relief as her ability passes to Arthur, who clearly manifests the ability (his eyes go black). Maya wants nothing to do with Mohinder, who goes into the room.

Pinehearst Company: Mohinder asks Arthur if Arthur would be able to remove Mohinder's abilities as well. Arthur brings Mohinder to Arthur's Doctor, who has both halves of the formula on large displays. Arthur tells Mohinder that although they have the formula, they have been unable to successfully use it. He tells Mohinder that if he can perfect the formula, then a new injection might fix Mohinder's abilities.

Level 5: Flashes between Angela in a dream and Gabriel. Gabriel sees Angela, who tells him to save Peter and that he can use his abilities to break out of the cell even though he is allegedly surpressed. Gabriel uses his telekinesis to escape the cell and kisses Angela's forehead.

Bennet House (Costa Verde): Claire and Elle speak to one another. Elle starts to leave but her powers are malfunctioning badly, and she is shocking herself. Claire asks if something is wrong with Elle. Elle shows Claire the Pinehearst Company card, and says that she (Elle) was told that Pinehearst could help her. Claire decides to go to Pinehearst, and offers to take Elle with her.

Pinehearst Company: Daphe walks in on Arthur speaking with Maury, Knox is also in the room. Arthur says that she was supposed to recruit Matt Parkhurst. She says that she didn't intentionally fail, and wants to fix things. Arthur tells Daphne to kill Matt. Maury objects, and Arthur disables him.

Bennet House (Costa Verde): Sandra attempts to talk Claire out of going to Pinehearst. Claire asks Sandra not to call Noah, and explains that something is broken inside her and that Noah can't fix it. Claire admits that she does not trust Elle, but that they both have problems that need solving.

Matt's Apartment: Matt calls Mohinder and tells his machine that he's had a crazy week and needs to talk with him. He answers a knock at the door and Daphne is there with a gun. She asks him to turn around and goes to kill him execution style. Matt talks about his vision of the future where they are married with a family. Daphne drops the gun and apologises. Matt reads Daphne's mind and learns that Maury is dead (?).

Pinehearst Company: Arthur, with Flint and Knox, walks into the room where Peter was restrained. Peter has broken free of the gurney and tries to fight his way out with a chair, but Flint and Knox restrain him. He is taken to Mohinder and the Doctor, where Mohinder is ready to inject Peter with the formula as his first test subject. Mohinder asks Peter what he looks like in the future. Peter tells Mohinder that in the future, Mohinder looks like a monster, and Mohinder tells him that it is already too late to prevent the future. Gabriel arrives and knocks Mohinder over. Mohinder attacks Gabriel. Peter escapes in the confusion. Arthur arrives and confirms that Gabriel is his son and that he has been waiting for him to arrive for a long time.

Mohinder's Lab: Nathan and Tracy wonder whether anyone is still alive in the cocoons. Mark Spatney (the neighbor) is still alive and kicking. Noah arrives with Meredith and tazes the crap out of Mark Spatney.

Airplane: Elle and Claire are flying to New York. Elle explains that she is quite anxious about flying. Claire agitates Elle by reminding her that she allowed the prisoners to escape Level 5 and says that she helped recapture one of them. Elle's power goes crazy as she gets upset, and the plane starts to fall out of the sky. Claire grounds Elle and takes the electricity to prevent the crash.

Matt's Apartment: Matt and Daphne discuss doing what's right. Knox is outside, and his power is magnified by Daphne's fear. Daphne tries to run, and Knox clotheslines her, and she passes out on the floor. Matt gets into Knox's head and holds him, saying that he can make Knox's worst fear real and trap him in it forever. Knox says that Matt is the one who is afraid, and that fear only makes him stronger, then punches straight through Matt (presumably killing him, pretty nasty injury).

Matt's Apartment: Knox stands over the bodies of Matt and Daphne, then walks out of the apartment. Matt and Daphne walk into the room and the bodies disappear. Matt used his ability to create an illusion that Knox accepted as reality. Matt tells Daphne that The Company (Primatech) can help them.

Pinehearst Company (interior): Flint walks in and Arthur wants him alive. Arthur tells Gabriel that he sent someone to recruit him. Arthur tells Gabriel that Angela is manipulating him. Arthur reveals that Angela had a dream when he was born, and attempted to kill Gabriel in fear. Arthur says that he saved Gabriel when Angela attempted to drown him in the tub, and holds out his hand saying that it is time for Gabriel to learn the truth about his mother.

Pinehearst Company (atrium): Peter walks out into the atrium, then runs back into a room as Mohinder steps out and sees Maya below. Mohinder tries to patch things up with Maya, but Maya is having none of it. She says that she did terrible things, and now has to make amends, and that Mohinder also needs to.

Pinehearst Company (exterior): Elle and Claire step out of a car and walk onto the Pinehearst company campus. Elle remarks that it's nice that Claire is as screwed up as she is.

Pinehearst Company (interior): Peter comes to get Gabriel. Peter says that Arthur is lying, that he knows because he grew up with Arthur. Arthur says that there are things that Peter needs to know about Angela, and when Peter suggests that Gabriel kick the crap out of Arthur and that they get out of there, Gabriel instead throws Peter through the window.

Pinehearst Company (exterior): Peter falls out of the window and Claire and Elle are below. Claire tries to help Peter to the car, because he is bleeding profusely having had his abilities stolen. Claire wants to know how Peter survived the fall.

Mohinder's Lab: Noah asks Nathan and Tracy whether they were injected with anything, and tells them that they need to come in to the Company to be tested, to ensure that they weren't injected with something more than a tranquilizer. Nathan receives a phone call from Claire telling him about Peter.

Pinehearst Company: Arthur asks Gabriel how he supposes Peter survived the fall, then receives a call from Daphne who tells him that she's with Matt. Arthur tells her that if she screws this up, he will put her right back where he found her.

Peter's Apartment: Peter tells Claire that Gabriel saved his life by preventing his death at the Pinehearst Company. Nathan and Tracy arrive, and Peter tells Nathan that Arthur took his powers. Nathan says that he was there when Arthur died. Peter says that he's very much alive and that if they don't stop him, that Arthur will kill them all. Claire tells Nathan that Arthur is at Pinehearst, and Peter warns Nathan not to go there. Nathan says that he will arrange a justice department investigation of Pinehearst. As they leave, Tracy tells Nathan that she has been paid consulting fees by Pinehearst for years. Nathan says that he doesn't need her help to open doors, that he plans on kicking them down.

Africa: Since Hiro won't travel back in time, Usutu feeds Hiro the goop that will allow him to spirit walk. Ando tastes it and is repulsed. Usutu tells them that the paste is made of the root of a tree, and the dung of a hyena, and that they must wait for it's effects to occur. Hiro passes out and Ando freaks out.

I was writing up the episode summary in real time, so went over it a few times and posted it as the Synopsis before I read your notes in here. Hopefully folks can go over your notes and incorporate it into mine: that's what Wikis are for. :) Gadfly 22:26, 27 October 2008 (CDT)

n/p More the merrier, and I didn't want to be posting stuff directly to the episode page. I'm busying myself trying to figure out the ins and outs of everything else before I go screwing up something big. Also, I'm sure that my notes read annoyingly technical because I want to make sure that I don't forget who was actually doing what to whom, and I want the list of places for other purposes.--Falcomadol 23:39, 27 October 2008 (EDT)

OH MY GOD

NO. NONONONONOONONONO. NO. NO. Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 21:39, 27 October 2008 (EDT)

Oh okay, that's okay then. ^_^ Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 21:42, 27 October 2008 (EDT)
You should have guessed it. ;) (Admin 21:48, 27 October 2008 (EDT))
I probably should have. D: I figured it out right after the commercials ended... Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 21:49, 27 October 2008 (EDT)
  • Well, that was definitely Illusion, tying Telepathy and illusion together...--Riddler 22:02, 27 October 2008 (EDT)
    • It was telepathy, but we've known for a while now that powerful telepathy can accomplish things similar to illusion. (Admin 22:48, 27 October 2008 (EDT))
      • That was cool that we saw telepathy grow again. Last week, Peter was able to use telepathy to see Angela's thoughts, and now Matt can induce hallucinations like Maury could. That was a great gotcha moment done by the writers. Very cool. I really liked this episode.--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:34, 28 October 2008 (EDT)

So how do we go about doing this?

According to Arthur, ability loss through power absorption is permanent. How does this work for people like Peter and Maya? Are they still evolved humans? Do we still list them as having powers? Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 22:06, 27 October 2008 (EDT)

  • Dunno. We know that an evolved human who has lost his power (i.e. Peter) still has the constitution to accept abilities. I read that as they are still evolved. Peter's natural ability is still empathic mimicry. Just because it was stolen doesn't make him any less evolved. I would wait a few episodes before we start changing things around too much. At the most, we can update things like the infoboxes to say "Known ability: Poison emission (stolen)". That's my two cents. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:46, 27 October 2008 (EDT)
If any "normal human" can be "given" a power by a shot, and any "evolved human" can have their power removed, then I'm not seeing much of a distinction between them. I think this may be one of the themes of the season, that there's not just movement of characters between the ill-defined categories of "hero" or "villain," but between "normal" and "evolved." Unless of course Arthur is telling something significantly less than the truth, which is likely.--Falcomadol 23:57, 27 October 2008 (EDT)

Um...lets say a....oh,certain someones power is stolen, (due to their asshole of a father)...then their "Known Ability" on their page becomes 'Empathic Mimicry (stolen)',right?...but lets say that a certain evil scientist injects them with a sythetic fomula and this person gets the same power back, but now via synthetic injection...does their "Known Ability" become 'Empathic Mimicry (stolen)/(sythetic)..or what--Anthony Gooch 00:40, 28 October 2008 (EDT)

Angela...

... can put herself into other's dreams? Oh, and on the topic of founders, RIP Maury... JackOfBloodyHearts 22:09, 27 October 2008 (EDT)

RIP indeed. At least his last act was protecting his son... maybe he's not that bad after all. Of course, he was still pretty bad. Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 22:10, 27 October 2008 (EDT)
Yeah, I thought that was touching... but his ability was so cool in Season 2. So, wait, did Angela put herself into Sylar's dream? That's not exactly 'precognitive'... more telepathic. JackOfBloodyHearts
I don't know. Angela said something about how Sylar was capable of much more than he knew. Perhaps Sylar has some hidden ability? Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 22:21, 27 October 2008 (EDT)
Yeah, it sounded like it was Sylar that was able to communicate with Angela, but the conversation was a bit vague and it's too soon to call it an actual ability. (Admin 22:47, 27 October 2008 (EDT))
Personally, I don't think Angela had anything to do with it. Why would she intentionally send her sons in harms way? She has a funky way of showing it, but she really cares. I think it was Arthur pulling the strings. He does have telepathy, you know. Actually, I think he's the one who put her in the coma in the first place.Titan3510 00:34, 28 October 2008 (EDT)

Mohinder Painting

Mohinder in the new painting looks an awful lot like the upper right member of the Four Villains painting.

Thoughts? --Falcomadol 22:42, 27 October 2008 (EDT)

Eris Quod Sum

Personally, I think the title has two different meanings. One having to do with children and parents and an uncertain future, but also, Eris Quod Sum is put on tombstones. It means "I am what you will be" or "You will be what I am." Which when written on a tombstone means, You will be what I am, which is literally "dead." Maybe something to stick in the trivia section, I don't know, I thought I would ask before changing it. --Turner 23:26, 27 October 2008 (EDT)

Are Claire and Elle dumb?

I mean, seriously, taking a plane with Elle in the condition she's in? And then Claire starts to agitate her? Blondes...--ClammyJim 23:30, 27 October 2008 (EDT)

Otherwise we get a weeklong roadtrip from California to New York. I can see the logistical problems that the writers are facing, and I guess they opted to grab a character moment out of it --Falcomadol 23:37, 27 October 2008 (EDT)
I was really happy that we finally got to have an in-flight moment tonight. Considering the urgency of Elle's situation, it didn't bother me that they chose to fly and I thought the writers handled it really well. I hope Elle fares well by herself, though. It scares me that she decided to enter Pineheast by herself.--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:26, 28 October 2008 (EDT)

So Arthur changed Angela's future?

Didn't she precog-dream Maury being one of Arthur's strike team killing Claire and Hiro and the others in The Butterfly Effect. So is it just that easy to change the future? If so, what's the point of precogging? I thought only precogs and time-travelers could alter visions. Or is Maury not really dead? Or does Arthur have some future-altering ability? Ditto for Adam, I suppose. Her precog dream doesn't seem to be anywhere near accurate. "In my vision I'll see... two people who do absolutely nothing aggressively/assault-team-like for my husband and will be dead in a few episodes but are a major part of my death and destruction vision. And people like Flint are absent. Oh well." --Gadfly 00:05, 28 October 2008 (CDT)

  • My thought is that Maury used his ability to help Arthur get into Angela's dream, and that he was actually there. Thus, he would know what happened in her dream and know that his changes have altered it. That said, I see Angela's dreams as largely symbolic (Claire being in her cheerleading uniform was a hint of that).--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:25, 28 October 2008 (EDT)
