Character History
Nothing to Hide
At the precinct, Detective McHenry attempts to comfort Matt when he seems upset, and congratulates him for his success working with the FBI. Tom tells Matt that Audrey has arranged for Matt to take the detective exam as a series of oral interviews rather than as a written test, in order to accommodate Matt's dyslexia. Matt then reads Tom's thoughts and, believing that Tom is having an affair with his wife Janice, punches Tom and calls him an SOB.
Six Months Ago
Tom, still a beat cop, pulls his squad car next to Matt's. They discuss the detective exam they are both due to take in an hour—Matt's second attempt at the exam. He also scorns Matt for eating doughnuts, which Matt was doing at Eden's suggestion.
