Organization

  • Some of these seem to be organized by the person who possesses the photos and some do not. (For one thing, I'm not sure why the photos of D.L.'s crew, etc., from Snapshots are listed under Niki). We should probably decide to either organize them by possessor or by subject, and stick to whichever we choose. Also, it's not entirely clear if some of the ones from GNs are photos and not paintings, drawings, etc. (particularly some of the stuff from the string web).--Hardvice (talk) 08:11, 21 October 2007 (EDT)
    • I'd prefer to organize them by subject since the possessor is not always clear, but I'm certainly open to either way (or another way if somebody suggests a good one). In any case, it should be standardized and references should be added. I'm going to mark it as not meeting our wiki's standards. I don't have time to fix it now, so the flag will be a reminder for later. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:16, 21 October 2007 (EDT)
  • We could use a template like this:

In this photo: Hiro Nakamura, Charlie Andrews
Taken on: April 24, 2006
Taken at: Burnt Toast Diner
Taken by: Lynette
Owned by: Burnt Toast Diner
Location: Midland, TX

and put each blurb under the person who own the photo. If it was sorted by the subject of the photo, the same photo might appear for more than 1 time. 08:51, 26 October 2007 (EDT)

    • While that looks kind of cool, we don't have much information on a lot of the photos, and the page would be astonishingly long if we did that for every photo. I think the real question isn't about the format (galleries are fine), but about making sure the photos are consistently organized the same way (by possessor or subject). You bring up a good point about some photos having multiple subjects. I think we could just include them under one subject and be OK.--Hardvice (talk) 12:40, 26 October 2007 (EDT)
      • I think that if there were sub headings it might help. For example, Under characters the sub headings Evolved humans and normal humans, then list each person alphabetically. Also instead of making two other sections, make building 26, Pinehearst and Primatech files under the heading government/company files (can't think of something that will include all three). Then have a heroes evolution heading to include Devin's PDA and assignment tracker and map. Then have an other section for animals. Also maybe having a family section so everything is clearly separated. I would gladly do this but thought I would say something first as some people may not like this idea. I could create an example in my user space is this would help. The only problem I see is when a photograph doubles up into two sections, Micah for example as his photo is in Nathan's files which is under Building 26 but also under Micah. The photo could be included in both but how would you decided if you were to only choose one? --posted by Laughingdevilboy

Cleaning

I went through and loosely organized pictures by the subject. Some appear twice (like a picture of both Nathan and Peter). Some I dropped altogether (like what was claimed to be a photo of a painting, but it was not). Some I just threw down in the miscellaneous. I combined some characters--like all photos of the Company's founders. Work that still needs to be done is:

  1. More organization
  2. Fix descriptions
  3. Add cites
  4. Get newer photographs (like from Pinehearst's files, the picture of Maya on Mohinder's computer screen, etc.

There's lots of work to be done yet... -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:55, 11 December 2008 (EST)

  • Yeah, also, according to Operation Splinter of iStory "Friend or Foe", there's a photo of Ricardo Silva with his wife and child in his former apartment in a picture frame, but there's no actual photo shown in the iStory. I'm not sure if we're interested in adding such photos.--MiamiVolts (talk) 00:25, 13 December 2008 (EST)
  • I'm going to start cleaning the page a bit with what we have. Unfortunately, I think the best way to do it is by section, so there might be some excessive edits showing up in the recent changes. Sorry! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:36, 13 December 2008 (EST)

More Pics More Page

Hey how about including assignment tracker profile pics or is it just from the show? Gabriel Bishop 17:47, 13 December 2008 (EST) Gabriel Bishop

  • Not a bad idea. I didn't see your comment, but I guess we were thinking along the same lines--I just added all the ones that are photos. (I didn't add the artist renderings, though.) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:08, 14 December 2008 (EST)

TOC

I created and added a template that puts the TOC horizontally at the top of the page, so there isn't a massive space between the top and the first section. I hope this was ok, but if not, the only things that need to be done to reverse it are:

  1. Remove the NOTOC code, which is at the very top of the page.
  2. Remove the {PhotographsTOC} code, which is directly above the initial description of the page
  3. Delete the Template:PhotographsTOC page

  • No, it looks terrific, and it fills in the space nicely. Bonus: it helps with organization. The page is nowhere near done, so I'm not going to worry about updating the TOC until all the sections are added (they will change), but it's a great idea. Thanks, Stevehim! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 19:09, 14 December 2008 (EST)
