Among the Characters in Heroes, there are some whom I believe central to the show in one form or another. I think of them as the major characters, and they follow in this page.
I further classify them as is shown in the Table of Contents.
Core Characters
These characters I deem the core characters because they have been billed as the "Main Characters" since Season One and have had a significant role in the plot of each volume. How is explained below;
Claire Bennet
- Volume One -- Her adjustment to her ability was a focal point of the volume; was the subject of the message, another focal point of the volume; was asked by Peter (the bomb) to kill him
- Volume Two -- Her adapting to life in hiding was a focal point of the volume; Her blood helped keep Noah (her adopted father) and Maya alive and cured Sylar
- Volume Three -- Her quest not to be helpless was a focal point of the volume; was instrumental in saving Noah and Angela from the wrath of Sylar by incapacitating him
Noah Bennet
- Volume One -- Initially he was a member of the Company and saw evolved humans as animals. However he came upon a major revalation during the volume, his own adopted daughter, Claire, was one. Noah's subsequent quest to protect Claire from the Company by shutting it down and reaching out to evolved humans to do so was a focal point in the volume.
- Volume Two -- His continued quest to protect Claire and his family from the Company, which survived his actions, was a focal point of the volume.
- Volume Three -- His quest to capture the evolved human criminals in Level 5 was a focal point of the volume. He was also the one to help Claire in her quest to not be helpless.
Hiro Nakamura
- Volume One -- Was on a quest to stop the bomb (Peter)
- Volume Two -- His interaction with Adam, the person responsible for the Outbreak Future was a focal point of the volume
- Volume Three -- Accidentally let the formula out, and his quest to right the situation and destroy the was a focal pint of the volume
Matt Parkman
- Volume One -- His quest to better himself and understand his ability was a focal point of the volume; helped Noah in his plans to take down the Company
- Volume Two -- Helped persuade Peter that Adam was misleading him
- Volume Three -- Helped persuade Daphne away from her morally gray lifestyle; helped Hiro destroy part of the formula
Nathan Petrelli
- Volume One -- His campaign was a focal point of the volume; Flew the Peter (the bomb) to where he would do no damage
- Volume Two -- Helped persuade Peter that Adam was misleading him
- Volume Three -- Wanted to promote the use of the formula
Peter Petrelli
- Volume One -- Was the bomb, to his own dismay
- Volume Two -- Was an unknowing accomplice in Adam's plot to release Strain 138, but, fortunately, wound up destroying it.
- Volume Three -- Was instrumental in destroying the formula
Mohinder Suresh
- Volume One -- His quest to continue his father's research on abilites and understand them and discover what killed his sister was another focal point of the volume.
- Volume Two -- His thirst for knowledge about the Shanti virus was one of the focal points of the volume
- Volume Three -- His resumed quest for knowledge about abilities lead to research on artificialy induced ones, and some self-inflicted andguish along the way.
Sylar
- Volume One -- His hunger to acquire abilities was one of the focal points of the volume; he was also thought to be the bomb.
- Volume Two -- His quest to cure his ability loss, unknown to him caused by Shanti virus infection and the Company's hand, was another focal point of the volume
- Volume Three -- His entertaining the idea of being a good guy, the rejecting it, was another focal point of the volume
