• Personally, I enjoy graphic novels where we don't always have a big new reveal. I enjoyed just delving into the characters a bit more. I liked seeing that Edgar has secrets in his past, and getting to know Lydia and Edgar a bit deeper. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 09:18, 29 September 2009 (EDT)
  • So are they in love, or is it just Lydia behaving bad? AltesUTC CH
    • Lydia calls Edgar over in a singsong way, she hugs him tenderly, whispers in his ear (when nobody else is around), and gently places a paper in his hand. The shots and angles are all traditionally indicative of romance or two people being in love. Additionally, the basic plot of the novel is that Lydia asks Edgar to do something very dangerous and against the rules, something she would only ask somebody she really trusts and whom she knows cares for her. On top of that, they both seem to have seen a future that involved a baby and the two of them in love. I'd say that's pretty good evidence for them being a couple.       • Hey, I love the character-developing episodes/graphic novels/etc, but this was a bit....lacking. Not a whole lot on either Edgar or Lydia, nor much on them, together. At least, nothing we haven't seen before. We get it. They dig each other. But, they keep beating our heads over with it (especially, since it's not presented in a new or interesting way). This, really, just seemed like an extremely unnecessary prequel to Slow Burn. *yawn* --ElleFanBoy 21:36, 29 September 2009 (EDT)

• Lydia has tattoos. The target girl doesn't. The person who says that she must trust him is not Edgar, it's a knife thrower who has no beard. The flashbacks make the story a little hard to follow, but it's all there: Lydia asks Edgar to do him a favor, to go to 138 Prospect. He does, and that's where he gets a package (from a knife thrower and his target girl). Then he runs back to the carnival with the package. As we learned from the video attached to Slow Burn, the package is a Sprint phone Lydia uses to call her daughter. It's contraband. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 12:58, 29 September 2009 (EDT)

    • Why would it be a knife thrower, whos clearly modeled on Ray Park sans beard, talking about trust with a blond woman, and it NOT be a flashback of the two established characters. This novel was god-awful to follow, but clearly that IS Edgar and Lydia. --Action Figure 14:00, 29 September 2009 (EDT)
    • The artist makes it somewhat clear that those are two different scene running concurrently by the shades of color. Also, the "knife-thrower" (Younger edgar) seems to still be throwing knives while at the door in your theory of how this page is worked out. It is Edgar and Lydia. --Action Figure 14:02, 29 September 2009 (EDT)
      • I agree, my first assumption was that the knife thrower and target girl were Edgar and Lydia in flashback. The whole comic is flashing back and forth between the present (his current mission) and the past (leaving his family/joining the circus). The question at the end "You must really trust me, eh?" is meant to echo the earlier line "I've always trusted you, Edgar" spoken by Lydia to Edgar. It's to show us just how long they've known/trusted each other. Also, the current description of the knife thrower answering the door is clearly wrong, the knife thrower has short dark hair and the person that answered the door has long red hair. --Maelwys 14:34, 29 September 2009 (EDT)

          • Plus, haven't we been told over and over and over and over again that Edgar is a knife thrower in the Carnival? Granted, he might not be the only knife-thrower in the whole place, but if those two really weren't Edgar and Lydia, then this GN was even more useless that I thought it was. --ElleFanBoy 21:36, 29 September 2009 (EDT)
• I stand corrected. I got an email from Zach Craley. He clarified that "those panels are also flashbacks. The sepia tones there unfortunately don't stand out as boldly as on other pages. It's still shortly after Lydia's joined with the Carnival, so she doesn't have any tattoos yet--thus she's an assistant in Edgar's knife show because she doesn't have her own carnival act." Main Picture

I don't like this picture. It doesn't really show much..I think the one on NBC.com looks good or another one..The only way I figured out who it was, was because of the name...Does anyone else agree? ~~IHH—Talk 18:59, 29 September 2009 (EDT)
