Talk:Arthur's soldiers

From Heroes Wiki

This has to be renamed, unless it's specified as "Arthur's army" on the show. Any Marine (notice the capitalization) who reads this will likely be bothered. Arthur's Marines or Arthur's militia could work.--Riddler 22:07, 11 December 2008 (EST)

  • Would Arthur's squad work?--MiamiVolts (talk) 22:10, 11 December 2008 (EST)
    • 50 people is too large for a squad. --Bob (talk) 22:13, 11 December 2008 (EST)
  • I agree, but it's an unnamed group, so as long as the name conveys what the group is about, I think it's fine. No one owns Marines, and militias exist to protect. I think the name is fine. Hell, we've kept Underground railroad for a while.--Bob (talk) 22:13, 11 December 2008 (EST)
  • Didn't Aurthur say in the show he needed an army?--OutbackZack 22:14, 11 December 2008 (EST)OutbackZack
    • Platoon, since they're in platoon formation, though "Arthur's Marines" is more aesthetically pleasing. Saying they're Arthur's "Army" when they're Marines will definitely offend many Marines. --Riddler 22:15, 11 December 2008 (EST)
    • I think the point Riddler is trying to make is that a group of Marines should not be called an army. Maybe a platoon or just soldiers (the iStory just calls them a platoon of military soldiers). However, I think OutbackZack may be right about Arthur calling them an army. From what I understood from the show, they are not working as for the Marine Corps while they are serving Pinehearst. Am I correct?--MiamiVolts (talk) 22:18, 11 December 2008 (EST)
      • Go with soldiers. --Riddler 22:19, 11 December 2008 (EST)
        • Though, I just realized, soldiers usually refers to the Army as well. Marines are just Marines. Hmm.--Riddler 22:24, 11 December 2008 (EST)
          • Did no one see what I said? haha. I'm pretty sure in the show Aurthur said he was going to get an army, or told Tracy to go get him an army. Something like that. If so, then it should be call Aurthur's army. --OutbackZack 22:32, 11 December 2008 (EST)OutbackZack
            • I saw and noted what you said, but Arthur's dead now and it's possible Pinehearst has/will recruit more than just Marines. Also, Riddler, you may be interested in this article about using the term soldier to refer to a Marine.--MiamiVolts (talk) 22:37, 11 December 2008 (EST)
  • What about just marines?Gabriel Bishop 14:19, 12 December 2008 (EST) Gabriel Bishop
    • I second this post. Soldiers is good, but Marines is more specific and not speculation. Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 16:22, 13 December 2008 (EST)
      • "Soldiers" is the term used for them in the iStory. It's not speculation. Also, are they still in the Marines Corps? I asked below, but no one has confirmed that in the episode said they were still on active duty. It sounded to me as though they were all former Marines, especially Scott after such a traumatic experience in Iraq.--MiamiVolts (talk) 16:37, 13 December 2008 (EST)
        • iStory is near-canon, so "soldiers" is near-canon while "Marines" is canon. Both names are fine, but "Marines" outranks in terms of canonicity. But as for the issue of them being former Marines, I was really under the impression that they were still on active duty but not serving a term at the present moment. That's a good point though, so perhaps we should keep it as "Arthur's soldiers" for now. However, if there is confirmation in the show, or even iStory, that they're still Marines, I'm all for the rename to that. Sincerely, Thrashmeister [ U | T | C ] 16:44, 13 December 2008 (EST)

Adding a list

Presumably we're going to be seeing more of the marines in "Duel" and probably The Recruit and Fugitives as well. If it turns out that we're not going to be finding out about more individual's powers the list can be removed. --Ricard Desi 14:36, 12 December 2008 (EST)

I agree with Ricard Desi more marines will appear in dual since they will get abilities like Angela states in the trailer for The Recruit. Gabriel Bishop 16:17, 13 December 2008 (EST) Gabriel Bishop

Okay we were wrong but there's still rachel, david and the other guy . Gabriel Bishop 12:41, 13 January 2009 (EST) Gabriel Bishop

Did anyone catch if it was said in Our Father as to whether or not the Marines had been discharged?--MiamiVolts (talk) 19:57, 12 December 2008 (EST)

I don't think it was mentioned, but considering the place blew up, I think so. The Recruit goes into further detail.

  • When Arthur gives Tracy the mission, he sends her to Parris Island. --Juba 04:59, 21 January 2009 (EST)
    • Right, but is Tracy just recruiting Marines that have been discharged? For instance, in the current iStory, it looks like Rachel's trying to get a civilian job and that her Marine days are over.--MiamiVolts (talk) 14:08, 21 January 2009 (EST)

Okay so who votes for Marines ?

1. Gabriel Bishop.-Becuase it describes them more becuase really they were never arthur's solidours.
2. Boycool.-They weren't soldiers and they never belonged to Arthur.
