Talk:Series of eight (painting)

Just an idea... include the realizations of these paintings on this page? --Riddler 17:42, 8 October 2007 (EDT)

  • It kind of depends on how well we see them realized. The Invisibility Series, for example, has great realizations for each and every painting. The Isaac Dead Series doesn't -- we know that all of them came true, but we don't have an angle for each and every painting, so it doesn't work on that page. So far, we could definitely do realizations on this page, but we need to be prepared for the eventuality that that might not be the case with all eight.--Hardvice (talk) 18:10, 8 October 2007 (EDT)

Symbol

Did Kaito land in a sort of symbol shape? It's a bit of a reach, but it's there if you want to see it: left arm and leg as the two sticky out bits, right arm as the single sticky out bit, right leg as the bottom curve and his head as an admittedly short top curve. -- FissionChips 13:15, 9 October 2007 (EDT)

West?

Claire is kissing someone in the background? West anyone??? But then again, it may just be West, and someone else killed Noah. Dean Harper 18:12, 9 October 2007 (EDT)

  • It's me. Sorry to spoil the mystery. --DocM 18:17, 9 October 2007 (EDT)
  • Thanks for the sarcasm. Dean Harper 23:49, 9 October 2007 (EDT)
    • If this painting is realized, whoever the killer is drops straight to my least favorite character. Ever. EVER. D: --AvadaNella 01:38, 10 October 2007 (EDT)

Confirmed?

Has it been confirmed that the subject of the photo is Noah? There is a fairly convincing theory that it is in fact Mr. Petrelli, due to his connection with the Group of twelve and his striking resemblance to Noah Bennet. Random guy 01:37, 23 October 2007 (EDT)

The Paintings!

OK, so we've seen the series of eight. Here's what we know:

  • 1/8 - Kaito Nakamura's death
  • 2/8 - Unclear (Dark background, I'll have to see a screencap) *UPDATE: Clair sprawled out on the steps after being dropped by West while humiliating Debbie in The Line. Hero25 7:46, 30 October 2007 (EDT)*
  • 3/8 - A hand holds a vial of clear liquid (similar to the variant Shanti virus Bob gave Mohinder earlier)
  • 4/8 - a Blonde woman (Niki?)angrily bangs on what looks like a metal wall or enclosure (a shipping container?)
  • 5/8 - A man with vacant eyes (Peter?), with another man in the background. Red at bottom left - maybe blood?
  • 6/8 - Hiro and Kensei do battle. Hiro appears to be attacking, since his blade is on top of Kensei's (and the blade of Kensei's is down, indicating a block)
  • 7/8 - Angry Mohinder shoots someone angrily
  • 8/8 - The death by gunshot of Noah Bennet, with a Blond in a short red dress (probably Clair) embracing someone entirely unseen

What does it all mean??? Tell me an expert out there has scans in the works, please! ZZ 23:51, 29 October 2007 (EDT)

  • I'll petition Tim Sale. I'm sure I'm not the only one who'll be asking, though. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:55, 29 October 2007 (EDT)
  • 3: Bob experimenting with the virus, or someone in the future experimenting with samples of the virus.
  • 4: Niki hitting a mirror because she cannot see Jessica (notice that there is no reflection)
  • 5: Peter looking through the glass shown at the end of The Line, during the preview of the next episode.
  • 6: As this happens, Hiro transports them both to the future, to avoid being killed.
  • 7: Mohinder shoots Bob, fulfilling the ripped photo threat to Bob.
  • 8: Noah is killed because he turns out to be a bad guy, killed by West, who is said to have found out that Noah is the Man in the Horn-rimmed glasses.

Rename

  • Shouldn't this article be called: Series of eight (paintings) ??? (Plural)--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:46, 1 November 2007 (EDT)
    • Probably. It matches the other series, but it's always kind of bothered me.--Hardvice (talk) 18:04, 1 November 2007 (EDT)

Realizations

The realizations belong on (and are on) Prophecy; we can add a prophecy gallery here, too, if need be (like Invisibility Series), but shouldn't mix them in the same gallery.--Hardvice (talk) 09:13, 8 November 2007 (EST)

Gallery

It looks nice.--Ice Vision 21:08, 11 November 2007 (EST)

  • I hope Tim Sale lets us see some color versions of his work so we can swap out the screenshots. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:43, 11 November 2007 (EST)
    • I'm really missing the gallery on corinthianlasvegas.com this season. They were never as good as Tim's files, but there were a ton of them. And with all of the (*yawn*) behind-the-scenes GN Easter Eggs, we're left with no "official" source for paintings. :( --Hardvice (talk) 22:36, 11 November 2007 (EST)
      • I am enjoying the content we're getting from corinthianlasvegas much more this season, but you're right, there's no "official" source for paintings. I guess we should just be thankful that the paintings are continuing at all, though, eh? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:47, 11 November 2007 (EST)

Gallery shots

  • If we're going to have prophecy/realizations (and they look nice), I think we should scrap the individual paintings in the galleries. That's their third appearance on the page, each of which redirects to the full sized version. Just seems kind of redundant.--Hardvice (talk) 02:10, 22 November 2007 (EST)
    • I think that's a good idea. I like the more dynamic views (prophecy realization, Noah's screen) better anyway. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:43, 22 November 2007 (EST)

Clear versions

Joe Tolerico just updated the gallery at 9th Wonders (see this link). The eight paintings from this series are in the gallery and they're nice and clear. However, they're also really small. We ran into the same issue when the paintings from Linderman's gallery were released. Ultimately, we took it on a case-by-case situation, but we generally took the smaller, clearer versions over the larger, less clear versions. Shall we do the same with the series of eight? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 15:41, 28 February 2008 (EST)

  • I would say yes, except for where we have a larger, just as clear image from Tim Sale (the Noah painting for sure; not sure about the others).--Hardvice (talk) 17:32, 28 February 2008 (EST)
  • Incidentally, the images in the gallery are actually slightly larger and less cropped than they appear in the gallery. See here, for example.--Hardvice (talk) 17:40, 28 February 2008 (EST)
    • I agree. The new versions at 9th wonders are better.--MiamiVolts (talk) 17:56, 28 February 2008 (EST)
      • Just for the record, I made updates to all the images except the Claire image and the Noah image. (Actually, with the Noah image, I just fixed a resolution problem in the prophecy version). On the Kaito image, I just adjusted the colors. All the others were pretty much lifted (with some cropping and size modifications in some cases) from the 9th Wonders gallery. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 18:43, 1 March 2008 (EST)

8th painting

In the 8th painting, it looks much more like Niki and D.L. kissing (with Niki having just punched Noah) than Claire and West. Does it look like that to anyone else? --Freakatone 20:47, 23 September 2008 (EDT)

Hiro and Kensei

Heres what I don't understand. Isaac is supposed to draw the future in their timeline and not ours. Hiro and Kensei's would've already happened in their timeline, therefore he wasn't drawing the picture. This doesn't make sense. ~~IHHTalk 17:02, 12 May 2010 (EDT)

  • I think that it counted as future because technically, it happened in Hiro's future. When he went to the past. It's weird, I know. Intuitive Empath - Talk - Contributions 18:18, 12 May 2010 (EDT)
