In chapter 9 of The Agent, Barbara gets out of a tank full of water in the back tent of a circus. She then begins unzipping from her back down the part of her costume that makes her legs look like the tail of a fish. Then, she spots Anna in the tent and shouts out for Doug, telling him that a kid is in the tent. A short while later, Doug informs Anna that the government is coming for everyone but himself, and the mermaid performer, who is now out of her costume and standing on both feet, cups her hands. The air inside her hands turns to water, which leaks through her fingers onto the ground. Some time later, the mermaid performer huddles with Anna and the other circus performers in the dark. She and everyone else freeze as they spot lots of people moving around quietly outside. |

In chapter 10 of The Agent, the mermaid performer, Anna, and the other circus staff hide in a cellar underneath the circus while agents search above them. The mermaid performer, who Anna notes is named Barbara, lies on her side with her eyes closed, but jumps at every noise. |

Character History
One of Us, One of Them
Dr. Zimmerman, the man who delivered Niki and Tracy, initially confuses Tracy for Barbara when she visits his home in Reseda.
I Am Become Death
Zimmerman explains to Tracy how she, Niki, and Barbara were separated and given to adoptive parents after they were given evolved human abilities.
Angels and Monsters
Angela explains to Tracy and Nathan that the Company injected Barbara with the contents of the formula, which gave Niki and Tracy their respective abilities.
An Invisible Thread
Barbara is seen in the teaser for Season 4. Agent Kent Harper, who has been fired from Homeland Security, walks into his apartment. His faucet is on and overflowing. The water on the floor begins to move, and forms into Barbara. She claims he's "number four".
Later, Nathan Petrelli reads about Harper's "mysterious drowning" in the newspaper.
Notes
