Students gossip in the parking lot about what happened to Crash.
The gossip spreads through the halls of the school.
Ren overhears the gossip in the halls.
Ren talks to Betty about Crash in chemistry class.
Three girls primp and preen in the school bathroom when they are greeted by....
...Mallory, an illusion of Betty, who hints that Crash's downfall was planned by the alt-crowd.
The hinting becomes a rumor that spreads through the classroom...
...and through the halls...

...and at lunch, the rumor morphs to the idea that a single person was responsible.
The morphing continues to in front of the school that it was a guy...
...and in the boy's locker room, the football team hears that Ren was responsible.
