AWI

Theory Evidence Notes
The AWI as Clandestine Protector Theory: The AWI [Agency Without Initials, also known as The OWI, or Organization Without Initials} is a clandestine espionage organization created after a single or series of terrible incidents involving one or more specially powered.

Because of this they seek out powered agents who they believe are not too dangerous or out of control, especially those they can maneuver into a place where they feel accepted and indebted to the organization.

To this end they take all measures to follow and monitor those who may be special.

They are also likely trying to develop a program to create these gifts.

The AWI uses "The Needle" to inject a tracking isotope into people with powers leaving the mark on the neck, as in the Graphic Novel "How Do You Stop an Exploding Man? (Part 2) where an employee of the company who manufactures the needles explains how they are used to tag animals.

They insist on having Sylar alive to be studied ( in the episode "The Fix") no matter what the risk or cost.

With the apparent resources available to The AWI and the knowledge of many of the people who have abilities before even those people do, they could most likely kill most of them before they developed abilities or reasonable control over them.

Cockroach

Theory Evidence Notes
In Godsend, the roach that crawls in Sylar's holding cell has some importance. Sylar focuses on it in the only scenes including him.
Sylar will use his power on the cockroach in his cell in order to become resistant to radiation.
Sylar aquired the cockroach's abilities of suspended animation. Simply using his known ability of intuitive aptitude in a new way. He knows how things work, and not just for humanoid mutates. He knows how clocks work. Sylar can figure out how insects, animals, even plantlife work. That may explain how he feigned death. Cockroaches can slow their heart rate down so that they appear dead, and even hold their breath for almost an hour at a time.

The Deveaux Society

Theory Evidence Notes
Some fans have speculated that Mr. Bennet, The Haitian, and Eden McCain are part of this society. None
Some have thought that the Society might be a group founded by Simone that acts as connection between the evolved humans and the rest of the world, or as a therapy group to help them deal with their powers. None

The email

For disproven theories, see here.

Theory Evidence Notes
Hana is going to see Theodore Sprague so they can both get revenge on HRG. On the document Hana is reading in her hand, the name "TeddyBear" can be seen at the top. This could be an e-mail address of Theodore Sprague. (His wife called him her Teddy Bear.) Since they both have the marks on their necks, that means Mr. Bennett had gotten to them both already and enhanced their powers. Hana will get revenge for being used, and Ted will get revenge for his powers becoming out of control and resulting in the death of his wife. In his interrogation at FBI Headquarters, Theodore Sprague mentions a student from Haiti, but not a man with horn rimmed glasses. Ted's memory of the man with horn rimmed glasses may have been erased, therefore, the email may not be from Ted.

The graphic novel How Do You Stop an Exploding Man?, Part 1 confirms that TEDDYBEAR616 is Theodore Sprague's chat username.

In the preview of Heroes shown during Deal or No Deal on Monday January 22, 2007, Theodore Sprague uses the chat username TeddyBear616 while chatting with Hana Gitelman who uses the chat username Wireless.

Evolved humans

For disproven theories, see here.

Theory Evidence Notes
AWI couldn't have made Matt that way because he was already on the list and that requires the genetic marker. He wouldn't be on it if he wasn't already evolved. AWI most likely enhances or uncovers the abilities while searching and documenting them. This is why Ted and Hana didn't know before. Matt's name is on the list

The Mark

For disproven theories, see here.

Theory Evidence Notes
The mark may be used by Mr. Bennet and The Haitian to mark heroes they've already encountered Both Matt and Ted were abducted. Both have the mark. To date, the Haitian has used his powers on Ted, Matt, Sylar, Eden, Zach, Sandra Bennet, Lyle, and possibly Claire. He attempted to use his powers on Nathan.
The mark is a scar left by an insertion of a tracking device. Greg Grunberg implied this in an interview with TV Guide The mark has only been shown on those who have been abducted by Mr. Bennet and The Haitian (Matt, Ted, and Hana). Also, in Wireless, Part 4, Hana describes the mark on her neck as "strange incisions." In HDYSAEM2, Ted discovers the needle is used to inject a radioactive isotope which is normally used to track wild animals, leaving the mark.
The mark is a side-effect of the Haitians memory-erasing ability. It hasn't been shown on others he has mind wiped, but that doesn't necessarily mean it isn't there. In HDYSAEM2, Ted discovers the needle is used to inject a radioactive isotope which is normally used to track wild animals, leaving the mark.
The Symbol is a representation of RNA, so the mark is something else. Symbol directly resembles RNA, but missing a rung....which might be the actual genetic abnormality. The mark's appearance indicates it may be two of the "rungs" or base-pair bonds of The Symbol. Sylar was noted to be messing with his DNA and probably RNA as well...RNA is also in the brain, which would make sense to this theory. In HDYSAEM2, Ted discovers the needle is used to inject a radioactive isotope which is normally used to track wild animals, leaving the mark.

Mr. Muggles

Theory Evidence Notes
Some fans have speculated that it's significant that Mr. Muggles licked Claire's blood after her run-in with the garbage disposal. It probably isn't since its been stated and confirmed that the power is in the brain not blood. If he were to develop abilities it would ruin the continuity of the show.

Peter's scar

Theory Evidence Notes
Peter's scar will be on his Left side His bangs cover the right side of his face when he meets Future Hiro. If his hair covered the scar, he wouldn't look so different without it. (Collision)
Peter will get the scar before he meets Hiro face-to-face. Future Hiro apparently had never seen him without it. Future Hiro only says he looks "different" without the scar. After five years of seeing Peter with the scar, it may just be disconcerting to see him five years younger without the scar.
Sylar will get jealous of Peter's power empathy and will try to remove his brain, the attempt will be stopped, however, by the other heroes. Which will leave Peter with a horizontal scar along his forehead. When future Hiro meets Peter, his eyes travel upward. Also, it can be assumed that a man would look very different with a scar along the entire length of his forehead, and Sylar has met Peter and may have an intuitive understanding of his power.
Either Claire will die, or Peter will never see her again after he gets his scar. None While wounds healed by Claire's power leave no scars, there's no reason to assume that a scar from a wound Peter healed normally would disappear if he encountered her later.
Peter will get the scar from exploding. None None
Peter will no longer get the scar. Future Hiro changed the future by going back and telling Peter about saving Claire which only changed the future of that timeline and not his creating an alternate dimension, kind of like Future Trunks in DBZ. It's possible that Peter received the scar in the timeline in which Claire was not saved, and will not receive the scar.

Primatech Paper Co.

Theory Evidence Notes
The Primate Technology Theory : Primatech has been pointed out to also be the word "Primate" and the letters "CH", which some have speculated that may represent 'chromosome" as several powered characters are described as having chromosomal abnormalities indirectly. It could also represent the fusion of the two words "Primate and "Tech". The name "Primatech" could be split into "Primate" and "Tech" or "CH".This is further enforced by the fact that the telephone number for Primatech Paper Co. is 1-800-Prima16, where "Prima16" could be a form of Leet for Primate.

Also on the business card and on the Primatech Paper Co. Website they say that they were founded in 1962, the year Crick, Watson, and Wilkins won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine "for their discoveries concerning the molecular structure of nucleic acids and its significance for information transfer in living material" (ie DNA). This could be an AWI inside joke or part of their origin.

Primatech Paper Co. is owned by or does business with Dunder Mifflin (The Office). The show has already done indirect cross overs with Las Vegas and Friday Night Lights, both NBC shows.

Primatechpaper.com

Theory Evidence Notes
Mr. Bennet has undiscovered secret files Primatech Paper's logo on the About Us [1] page opens a login which can be accessed with user name: bennet and password: claire. Accessing the hidden files within (see Hana) requires an additional login user name: bennet and password: HGghx11a. After three failed login attempts, access to Mr. Bennet's secret files may be blocked.

Sylar's victims

Theory Evidence Notes
Sylar is stealing the brains of evolved humans in order to incorporate their abilities into himself. Most victims whose brains have been removed have been evolved humans Sylar has corroborated this theory with his own statements. (Fallout)
Sylar may need to physically see the functioning brain (or believe he does) in order to give himself that power. He is removing and taking brains, not merely observing their owners. He was unable to consume Eden's power, as she destroyed her brain by shooting herself.
Sylar, Harbinger of Death Theory : Sylar is only absorbing powers from people who are very ill or dying, and has not yet managed to fix all of the problems associated with the powers he takes on. He may be physically integrating the brain tissues of his victims into his own body somehow, and his body is rejecting these foreign tissues, making him physically sick. This is probably why he is so anxious to get Claire Bennet's abilities, because he thinks that they will not only save him, but allow him to keep acquiring more and more power, so become more special. The other victims just happened to be innocent bystanders who got in the way, with the possible exception of Chandra Suresh who either new too much and had that list, or just was the target of Sylar's Revenge. When he confronts Matt's character, he may have recognized Matt's ability with his own while Matt was helping Audrey Hanson during Sylar's break in at the FBI. He may have recognized him from his more complete list of people with abilities. Either way, it would explain why he left instead of taking Matt right there when his back was turned. He could intuit or had seen the Toll Matt's ability entails, so he left him until he got Claire's healing factor.

The other piece of evidence is Sylar's murder of Charlie Andrews at The Burnt Toast Diner. He may have chosen here because her ability rose from or was causing her inoperable blood clot. Not enough is known about the remaining victims to tell if they had any health issues yet.

Some biblical traditions call the angel Gabriel the "angel of death." Sylar shares his first name with this angel.
Sylar has only successfully transfered one ability. Sylar has used telekinesis against Peter (Homecoming) and Eden (Fallout) Tim Kring said in an interview that Sylar had the ability to freeze people as well. And there are cases where it semi-proves he did.(unless it was Molly. But he has also killed at least 4 evolved humans and most likely taken there abilities. Mr. Bennet believes Sylar has taken on several abilities. Sylar hasn't shown any sign of possessing aquired abilities beyond the telekinesis. Hank informed Mr. Bennet that after many tests, he has so far only been able to identify the codon switch for telekinesis in Sylar, suggesting that he may only have successfully acquired one new ability. (Godsend)

The Symbol

Theory Evidence Notes
Is meant to resemble RNA, which is where the abnormality lies...or just to indicate something to do with the abnormalities Symbol directly resembles RNA, but missing a rung....which might be the actual genetic abnormality. Sylar was noted to be messing with his DNA and probably RNA as well...RNA is also in the brain, which would make sense to this theory.
The symbol is a combination of two Japanese symbols - “great talent” and “Godsend.” Ando noted this in Godsend
The Symbol is the logo for Yamagato Corporation’s Genetic Research Division. On January 29th, George Takei will join the cast of Heroes as Hiro Nakamura’s father. Hiro’s father is supposedly one of the richest men in the world, and the head of Yamagato Corporation (who supplies Hiro’s Blog with translation software and is where Hiro and Ando worked). The sword that future Hiro has is obviously a katana, and there has been some talk about him getting the blade from his father, since Takei has a ten episode deal with NBC.

The symbol is also found on Niki’s back, around the neck of the Haitian, who is obviously not allied with Mr. Bennet (aka HRG) and on the front cover of the Suresh’s book jacket. Niki’s mark is likely because she is linked to the company, and she is possibly a sleeper agent. The Haitian is possibly also an agent of the company and the logo itself is possibly taken from the code that Suresh broke (the super-power-genome). It’s within the code as a repeating pattern, and if the company did indeed supply money for his research (more likely than Linderman, since Yamagato is located in SE Asia) then they would want their logo on the cover.

The symbol is the third faction, the first being the Heroes, and the second being Linderman’s initiative, employing Mr. Bennet.

No confirmation is yet available about the length of Takei's story arc, his possible role as the head of Yamagato, or Yamagato's as-yet hypothetical genetic research division.

There is, as yet, no association between Yamagato and the Symbol.

Other published spoilers indicate that it's possible Hiro obtains the sword in a museum, not from his father.

After stealing a copy of the sword from the museum, Hiro discovers that Mr. Linderman holds the original. ('Godsend')

Uluru

Theory Evidence Notes
He is actually a depiction of Sylar or a symbol thereof. His being invincible would have to do with the rapid regeneration ability he was planning on taking from Claire. It could also depict how his hunger for power will spiral to massive proportions
Uluru will be the thing that the Heroes are actually supposed to face, which will be revealed in the second season...after it kills Sylar. The Uluru legend can be found on the actual Wikipedia and there is really no other evidence aside from Issac seeing Uluru and Hiro having him as a background on his computer screen. The legend of Uluru also has a creation myth attached to it- the Dingo, a supernaturally enhanced creature. It's a stretch, and there is little to no evidence, but still...anything is possible.
Uluru could be Jessica. She's already out of control and this can be a development of that. Or this could be her form when completely seperated from Niki. She has said that she's in control now and she seems to think she's unstoppable. She might end up being the true antagonist.

Waffles

Theory Evidence Notes
Waffles augment evolved human's powers Both Hiro and Claire eat waffles before using their power. No waffles have been shown on screen as of yet.
Mr. Linderman is made of waffles Mr. Linderman is talked about a great deal, but never seen. Waffles are talked about a great deal, but never seen. Mr. Petrelli and Thompson may also be made of waffles.
