When Hiro embarrassingly gets aroused, he tries to think of his grandmother in a bikini to "deflate" himself. (Chapter 13)

An older woman is with Kaito at a funeral in the earl 1960s. Hiro notes that the older woman is not Hiro's grandmother. (Chapter 44)

Notes

• Although Saving Charlie never directly says whether Hiro's grandmother is Ishi's mother or Kaito's mother, it does say that Hiro is the woman's only male progeny. It can be assumed that the woman is Ishi's mother, not Kaito's mother.
• The Crane mentions Hiro's grandfather, who survived the bombing of Hiroshima. It is unknown if this grandfather is related to Hiro's grandmother or not.
