There's a lot of info. here about different characters related to the storyline, and the page as-is could get crowded rather quickly even with the collapsible table format I added. So perhaps it would be better to make a namespace for these stories like we did for the webisodes? That way we could more easily make checklists for what needs to be added to what page. Alternatively, we could just archive the previous weeks in separate subpages (that was actually initial plan when making this page). Does anyone have a preference?--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:01, 10 November 2008 (EST)

  • I'm glad to hear that your initial plan was to use subpages. I really don't like the idea of creating new namespaces for each chapter. I would keep throwing everything on this page, and then let's see where we go from there. We might find that there's a logical breaking point every three chapters, or something like that, where we can move old information into a subpage. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:09, 10 November 2008 (EST)
    • Ok, it would not have been a new namespace each week but just a new article in a "iStory" namespace, but using subpages could be better for now since we don't know that much about these stories. Any chance you can find out anything about the writer and artist from Joe, Ryan? PS: I've added a short checklist for week 1 at the top of this page so we all can collaborate.--MiamiVolts (talk) 01:30, 10 November 2008 (EST)
      • As this page was getting big, I've moved the individual week discussions/checklists into subpages. Technically, they aren't really archives since this page is mainly for general discussion. I'm still interested in an iStory namespace, but this will do for now and it's better than using a pseudonamespace as previously discussed.--MiamiVolts (talk) 14:32, 4 December 2008 (EST)
        • Yeah, definitely don't use pseudonamespaces, they make things a lot more difficult for me in the long run if they ever become real namespaces. I'm open to the idea of a separate iStory namespace, but I'm interested in some more feedback about the idea first. (Admin 19:46, 29 January 2009 (EST))
          • Basically, I'm thinking of just moving Operation Splinter and Operation Bad Blood to iStory:Operation Splinter and iStory:Operation Bad Blood, and The Private chapter summaries will become iStory:The Private. The other volume-type articles (The Private and Friend or Foe) should probably stay in the main namespace. That's my suggestion.--MiamiVolts (talk) 20:00, 29 January 2009 (EST)
            • Agree, and then, in the character history of each iStory character, we'd have iStory:Operation Bad Blood, Chapter 104, and list what the character does in that chapter right there. Instead of listing it under Heroes Evolutions and writing it all in narrative form (ie In chapter 4 of Operation Bad Blood...) --Radicell 20:11, 29 January 2009 (EST)
              • Just to clarify, making each chapter a separate article isn't my suggestion. If we do make something like iStory:Operation Bad Blood, Chapter 104; I recommend it being a redirect that points to iStory:Operation Bad Blood#Chapter 104.--MiamiVolts (talk) 20:18, 29 January 2009 (EST)
                • No matter what happens with a new namespace or redirects, I don't think we should move the iStory content out of the Heroes Evolutions sections on character pages. Specifically, I think we should leave the iStory content in the Evolutions sections, and simply add subheadings within that section. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:55, 29 January 2009 (EST)
                  • My preference is also to keep the iStory content under Heroes Evolutions too, as along as we realize that doing so should mean graphic novels content also belongs there. The graphic novels were separated originally from that heading because they were given a namespace, which was probably an error, but it is now a standard unless we decide to change it, which I'm proposing we do so we can have a common standard. Should we copy this discussion to Talk:Portal:Graphic Novels?--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:18, 29 January 2009 (EST)
                    • I'd prefer it if iStory content were under Character History instead of Heroes Evolutions, though I understand where Ryan and Miami are coming from. Regarding Graphic Novels, however, I think they should be kept the way they are. But I agree that the GN discussion should be at the Talk page of the Graphic Novels, not here. --Radicell 07:55, 30 January 2009 (EST)
                    • Ok, I've copied the community portal and the graphic novels portal talk pages on these discussions.--MiamiVolts (talk) 08:32, 30 January 2009 (EST)

Is this canon?

While it should definitely be chronicled, is this story canon? I don't remember where I read it, but someone official called this an "Alternate reality", which made me assume it's entirely for fun. I don't know.--Riddler 09:52, 13 November 2008 (EST)

  • No, it's not canon. All Heroes Evolutions content is near-canon. We should be careful about adding content from iStory to character pages etc., though, since there is more than one story. For instance, it might be okay to say that an agent (meaning the fan who is using iStory) meets Lloyd Collins, but we shouldn't say much more than that since there are a few versions of the story. That's my knee-jerk reaction to the content...But I would really hold off adding much of anything to other pages until we find out a bit where it's going, to be perfectly honest. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:39, 13 November 2008 (EST)

Friend or Foe

Based on the NBCUMV article, it looks like 'Friend of Foe' is the name of the current storyline for the iStory. I'm not sure if we can call 'Friend or Foe' as 'Volume One', though, but I wanted to note this now so we have a reference if the iStory title changes when we go into 'Fugitives'.--MiamiVolts (talk) 16:20, 21 November 2008 (EST)

  • As it's now rather clear that "Friend or Foe" is a volume name, I've now moved the "Friend or Foe" volume content and discussion into separate pages.--MiamiVolts (talk) 19:26, 11 January 2009 (EST)

Numbering and titling

Are these numbers what NBC is using for this content? And what's with the same title for the different chapters? --SacValleyDweller (talk) 23:46, 21 November 2008 (EST)

  • Yeah, NBC is using these numbers (101, 102, 201, 202, etc.) for the url, and the same title (Operation Bad Blood, Operation Splinter) for different chapters (1 and 2) (see the recap here).--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:54, 21 November 2008 (EST)
    • Hmm...Not the way I'd release it or document it. althoug the other way to present it doesnt look much better while I think about it.--SacValleyDweller (talk) 00:43, 22 November 2008 (EST)
      • Since we're talking about documenting, I think we should have iStory be a brief overview of the game and the characters. Then I think we should have a page each for Operation Splinter and Operation Bad Blood, each with the full history of the story. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:02, 22 November 2008 (EST)
        • I like that! --SacValleyDweller (talk) 01:04, 22 November 2008 (EST)
          • I think it's starting to make more sense to have the split articles be iStory:Operation Splinter, and iStory:Operation Bad Blood using a new iStory namespace. However, I'm not opposed to the main namespace split Ryan suggested. We can always move the articles again later if Admin decides to make such a namespace.--MiamiVolts (talk) 03:00, 22 November 2008 (EST)
            • I don't see anything wrong with using a pseudonamespace like "iStory:Operation Splinter". -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 14:43, 22 November 2008 (EST)
              • Using a pseudonamespace makes it harder for Admin to make a real namespace later, as he has to manually move the articles to the new namespace. That's one of the reasons we still don't have a "Portal" namespace, and I'd rather avoid doing that.--MiamiVolts (talk) 15:22, 22 November 2008 (EST)
                • That's fine. Put the histories at Operation Bad Blood and Operation Splinter for now, and if we need to make more we can. I think that's a good solution for now. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:04, 22 November 2008 (EST)
                  • Ok, histories have been moved, and I changed the iStory page to use inclusion to show only the latest summaries and game rules. Next up will be adding the characters overview. Feel free to take care of that as I'm not planning to start work on that right away.--MiamiVolts (talk) 04:07, 23 November 2008 (EST)
                    • iStory character overview now taken care of by adding a characterbar. I thought that was the best way of handling it.--MiamiVolts (talk) 16:36, 6 December 2008 (EST)

I added the messages regarding the iStory onto this page as I thought this was the best current place for them. If anyone thinks there is a better place, please feel free to move my edit there. Also, I don't mean to step on anyone's toes (especially MiamiVolts, as I know you have done an awesome job with this page and the summary pages), but I figured that the messages did not belong on the Evs Dropper's Messages page as the aren't sent from Evs or FOCL or any of them. Thanks! --Heroes360 18:00, 10 December 2008 (EST)

  • Agreed. It was a good idea moving them here. Thanks.--MiamiVolts (talk) 10:25, 11 December 2008 (EST)
    • Well I worked with the messages a little bit more separating them from in-game and out-of-game. I did this as usually with Hana and Evs Dropper, all of those messages were from one of the characters as opposed to being from NBC. So I split them up, but the spacing is messed up, so I need some help with that. Also, if anyone thinks this is a bad idea, just let me know.
Also, with a new iStory starting next week, we might need to reformat or rename this article. I'm sure it will be easy (like just one edit here or there), and we may not need to change anything. Just a thought to be working on for next week. MiamiVolts did an awesome job with the summaries. I'm going to try to find all 14 endings to the last Friend Or Foe chapter and see if there is a good place to post them somewhere on the wiki. Thanks--Heroes360 17:13, 19 December 2008 (EST)
      • Thanks, Heores360. HERO posted most of the ending scenarios here. There's a few others like both contractors ending up dead that he didn't include. If you can gather them all, you could probably put them in a table at Operation Splinter/Alternate Endings listing the link, path of decisions and the pros and cons. We can then go back and add the other chapters as well if we want. If another iStory comes out, my thought is to move most of the iStory page to a new article called iStory "Friend or Foe" and point the Friend or Foe redirect to that page (If Admin later creates an iStory namespace, we can move that article to iStory:Friend or Foe). Assuming NBC continues the iStory, I'm guessing the next one will be from a different volume name and be related to Fugitives.--MiamiVolts (talk) 18:21, 19 December 2008 (EST)

iStory Haitus??

It's been a month since the last iStory chapter (4x12)....any word if it is on a similar haitus like the GNs, and when the next chapter will be released? --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 06/3/2009 10:20 (EST)

The Civilian

i maybe the only one who notice this but istory is back with a new volume called the The Civilian. --User:Datnymonster

  • Looks like it just came out today. Thanks for the heads up.--MiamiVolts (talk) 16:04, 15 July 2009 (EDT)

Work Done

I think that the IStories don't get work done too them as much as a webisode, GN, or episode does. There are things from The Agent that still needs to be done. There are people who need descriptions on their character pages that need done for the agent (and for people like me who can't read the IStories, we need a description to fill in the character pages). So here is a list that I feel needs to be done (that I can think without going to a billion pages):

  • The Agent:
    • Chapter 411
      • Summary
      • Option Page
      • Summary on Danko's Team
    • Chapter 412
      • Summary
      • Option Page
      • Summary on Danko's Team
    • Flight 195 Crash Summary
  • The Civilian:
    • Chapter 501
      • Summary on Rachel
    • Chapter 502
      • Summary
      • Finish Options Page
      • Summary on Rachel
    • Chapter 503
      • Summary
      • Options Page
      • Page for Asst. Principal Collins
      • Summary on Rachel
    • Chapter 504
      • Options Page
      • Summary on Rachel
    • Chapter 505
      • Summary
      • Options Page
      • Page for State Trooper
      • Page for Informant
      • Summary on Rachel
  • Faction Zero:
    • Summary on Sam's Comics
    • Chapter 601
      • Options Page
    • Chapter 602
      • Summary
      • Options Page
      • Page for CVPD desk officer
      • Page for Lieutenant Lenks
    • Chapter 603
      • Summary
      • Options Page
      • Page for Gail
      • Summaries on:
        • Vic
        • Rachel
    • Chapter 604
      • Summary
      • Options Page
      • Pages for alot of people
      • Summaries on:
        • Vic
        • Jennie
        • Theodore van den Burg
        • Micah
        • Rachel
        • Claire

And this is just the start. Like I said I didn't want to go to a billion pages, but I did. And this isn't even it! So, I just don't think that people treat an IStory as well as the others...--Iheartheroes 21:21, 13 September 2009 (EDT)

The puppet master

Is this chapter going to be a big thing in Doyle's story? cause sadly i cant watch it because i live in europe (THANKS TO NBC!)-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 13:51, 5 December 2009 (EST)

  • You should be able to play the istory, it's not a video. I'll leave you a link so you can go back to the very beginning of the istory (it starts around mid volume 3) and play them all. Let me know if you can't play them but remember, they're not videos so they should be available. --mc_hammark 13:55, 5 December 2009 (EST)
    • So, i should be able to do all the Istory's?-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 13:56, 5 December 2009 (EST)
      • Yup, it's like linking articles on here; there's text, you click on what your character does and it loads more text. It's only videos that NBC don't let us watch. Oh and the beginning ones are the ones at the bottom. It starts with Pinehearst vs Primatech, then The Private (about rachel mills in iraq), then the civilian (not played that yet), then the agent (working for danko) and then the slow burn one (about the bowmans - the fire breathers in the carnival) then the newest one starts on monday, which is doyle's one! --mc_hammark 14:00, 5 December 2009 (EST)
        • I dont get it why People from america (or atleast the company's like NBC) dont let us watch video's on their website.. Anybody knows?-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 14:04, 5 December 2009 (EST)
          • I think it costs them for us to stream videos, which, since they don't think of these things as as important as the show, they just don't let us. --mc_hammark 14:05, 5 December 2009 (EST)
            • Lol dont you guys from the UK let people from the USA watch Heroes Unmasked?-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 14:07, 5 December 2009 (EST)
              • I think we do, yes. I'm not entirely sure about that, but I do know that there was a Heroes s3 bundle which came with the heroes unmasked dvd's as well, though I'm not sure if it was available in the US. --mc_hammark 14:09, 5 December 2009 (EST)
                • Not to dicriminate or anything (cause i like America) but it think it's kind of selfish that the NBC and other company's dont let us watch things like that.-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 14:11, 5 December 2009 (EST)
            • I don't think it's anything to do with streaming videos. I think it's all about copyright, not to sure but I think they need to set up the proper copyrights in other countries before releasing them there, hence why Heroes Unmasked is only recently being released out there. - Jenx222 | U / T / C 14:27, 5 December 2009 (EST)
              • That could be it too, because on Youtube there are some music video's i cant watch because i live in europe.-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 14:30, 5 December 2009 (EST)
                • The rights in some countries are different to the rights in other countries. It takes time to sort everything out. - Jenx222 | U / T / C 14:33, 5 December 2009 (EST)
                  • Doesn't europe got the same rights?-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 14:35, 5 December 2009 (EST)
                    • No, take a look at this link. - Jenx222 | U / T / C 14:38, 5 December 2009 (EST)

iStory on Haitus? Any word?

Any word yet if iStory is on haitus? It's been 2 weeks since the last release. --HiroDynoSlayer (talk) 02/22/2010 16:32 (EST)

  • Ryan got confirmation that there will be no new additions to the iStory during the spring/summer hiatus. I guess there's a chance it could come back if there's a next season, but so far there's no confirmed plans for that. My speculation would be that Evolutions would try going in another new direction. During the spring/summer hiatus, though, there are now weekly blog entries from Hiro at the Yamagato Fellowship website, similar to the entries posted there during the first two seasons.--MiamiVolts (talk) 16:51, 22 February 2010 (EST)
    • Right. The creative staff's contracts were pretty much all up at end of the season--Zach Wilson's contract, in particular. We're all kind of waiting to see if the show gets picked up again. And then if it does get picked up, there's no guarantee that the staff will return (though I think most of them will), or that the iStory will return. It takes at least a month for a chapter to be developed, outlined, written, edited, illustrated, and published, and even longer to craft an entire multi-chapter arc. So even if Heroes gets picked up tomorrow, you won't see an iStory for awhile--and that's assuming the iStory is even coming back at all. I think Miami's speculation is spot on, based on my educated guesses. :) -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:53, 22 February 2010 (EST)
