I've been asked this quite a bit, so I have it all rehearsed, lol. It breaks into The-Requiem-Bell-Is-Here. I went through an emo phase that still lingers, so I've kept it on. A requiem is a funereal mass and the church bell is one of the main instruments used. It's also a line from the Haunted Mansion ride at Disney World! (Albeit warped a little). If you use the screencap site, click on the picture. A bigger version will pop up, and that's the one that would be best to upload. Also, the one thing I didn't mention earlier is using the screencaps from that site also requires that you remove the website name and watermark from the picture. You can get most by cropping, but after that, ya gotta photoshop, smudge, or somehow finagle the pic. If you can't get it perfectly, that's fine, somebody else will take care of it... But it is a good idea to get the full-size pic. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 11:04, 9 March 2007 (EST) |

* I'd also add that, if you're using a digital file, either transferred from a DVR or downloaded from a P2P site, I can't endorse a piece of software called Virtual Dub highly enough. It lets you step through the file frame-by-frame, and there are literally dozens of filters available to allow you to do anything from color and gamma correction to resizing and cropping to dewatermarking on the fly. You can even export clips in just about any format, including animated GIFs. It's pretty amazing software, and it's free.--Hardvice (talk) 13:52, 9 March 2007 (EST) |

== Location links on place portals == |
|||
Hey, Heroe. Just so you know, all the place portals are really cool -- they will link the location if it exists, but will stay black if it doesn't. That way, you can put "Unknown" if you wanted, or a non-linked place (as in the case of Auschwitz, which is in Poland). Adding the links as you did doesn't hurt at all -- I just want to let you know for future reference, so you understand why they're black and not linked. == Happy Birthday == |

Okay, check it out now. I'm heading to bed in just a few minutes, so if you need anything, let me know now. Also, a few notes about :Image:Stop sign.png and :Image:Questionmark.gif ... don't forget to include the source where you got them. Also, it'd be nice if they were the same size, so they don't look all wibbly wobbly on the template. But actually, all the other message templates have two of the same icon. I guess you could do whatever you want, but if you choose to go with just one icon, I suggest the question mark. Finally, the image causes a bunch of whitespace around the question mark in the template--you can avoid this by filling it in with the exact color of the template flag and then reuploading. — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 00:08, 27 March 2007 (EDT) |

**** Well, ok. Most of the writers are also producers, so they'll have at least 2 navbars. Some of them are also GN writers, so that's three for them. Beeman's a director and a producer ... he gets two navbars. Tim Kring is in three groups -- three bars for him. The only people who really benefit from this are most of the directors and some of the miscellaneous people. I just am not seeing why this is a good idea.--Hardvice (talk) 21:02, 19 April 2007 (EDT) |

****** You're right, it is kind of crowded. But that's not really a fault in our design, it's a product of a crew that wears many hats. If everybody fit into one nice little title ("Hi, I'm a director. Produce? Never. Write? That's for losers! And don't get me started on those comic books!"), it would change things around. But since the crew takes on so many responsibilities and because they have been "promoting" their underlings, there's no real way around the issue. == Your theory on Mr. Bennet's name. == |
|||
Thanks your help,I use Altavista translations to glance over WIKI now,Sometimes uses the online translation. |
|||
Where did you come up with your theory and why do you think that HRG stands for something other than what is known to be true. Tim Kring's original script for the pilot listed this character's name only as "H.R.G." — standing for Horn-Rimmed Glasses. Bennet was also referred to on posting boards as "HRG" before he was given a name. |
|||
*Oh, it's just one of those fun little theories. See the theories for waffles. :) Heroe(talk) 22:15, 27 March 2007 (EDT) |

******* Yeah, that's a good suggestion since there's no option in preferences to do that. Another option is to copy the link once you got the recent changes how you like them, then paste the url into your userpage. A toolbar link that displays a custom "Patrol changes" link only for administrators and patrollers group members is probably possible, not sure.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:37, 9 February 2008 (EST) |

******* I use Firefox, which is a tabbed browser. My first tab is almost always recent changes. I get the page to look how I want (hide my edits, hide edits made to theory pages, show only unpatrolled edits, whatever you want, though I usually look at everything). Then I start looking at each edit from the bottom up, and I do that by opening each edit in a new tab (Ctrl+click, though Shift+click works to open each edit in a new window if you don't have a tabbed browser). After I get to the top of the recent changes page, I click the date (it says "Show new changes starting from [DATE]) which will show me only the edits made after I originally opened the recent changes page. It's really quite nice, and doing so keeps whatever format changes you've made to RC (like hiding patrolled edits). Then I just repeat the patrolling process, starting at the bottom of the new RC page and head to the top. It sounds like a lot, but it's really pretty automatic once you get the hang of it. Let me know if you need me to explain more; I can do screencaps if you're not familiar with some of the options I mentioned. -- 08:32, 10 February 2008 (EST) |

** I don't think any promo info is included on any non-spoiler article--but if it is, it should be removed. That said, people often base their theories on promos and spoilers, and I don't see anything wrong with that, so long as it's not blatantly quoting a spoiler or using a promo as a source. For instance, there's a big difference between saying "Micah will help Mr. Linderman. || None || Linderman might be aware of Micah's power since his mother is already in cahoots with Linderman." and "Micah will help Mr. Linderman. || Micah is seen in a preview talking with Linderman. || Micah has the power to manipulate technology, and Kristin Veitch said that Linderman will need somebody to rig his voting booths." — RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:43, 12 April 2007 (EDT) |

Especially if you are reverting on a theory page, where users may speculate. It is not appropriate to remove text just because you don't like the theory on a theory page. If you don't leave a comment as to why it just means editing wars.--Bradtem 22:09, 24 September 2008 (EDT) |

So the red link you have on your user page is "Parodies and References to Heroes in other works". Good idea for a page, though I'm not exactly sure we have enough for one...yet. The "References" shouldn't be capitalized. And actually, if we're going to make the page, it should probably just be "parody" or "parodies", so that it's a bit more user-friendly. But I'd wait until we see a bit more. For instance, Zeroes is a great parody, but really deserves its own page.
I don't know where to post this, so I hope you'll excuse my edit. From the reading I've done both at university and in the four years since, it is clear to me that Heroes is a very specific type of allegory, and Five Years Gone only confirms this for me. A few terms to consider: Rama, Ravana, Navratras, Akashic Records, cosmic involution, Chakra. There are two moments in Five Years Gone which are absolutely convincing for me: first, the fact that Niki Sanders and Peter Petrelli are romantically involved, five years later; second, and most importantly, that when Sylar and Peter Petrelli meet in the hallway at the end of the episode, Sylar invokes Manipur Chakra and Peter Petrelli invokes Svadhistan Chakra to counter it.

On another random Heroes blog, I mentioned that it would be quite useful to attempt to categorize the heroes into sub-classes based on the elemental manifestations of their powers; I'll finish this edit by listing the six Chakras, into which each hero we've seen can be classified:

Muladhara: earth element, associated with the number 56

Manipur: water element, associated with the number 52

Svadhistan: fire element, associated with the number 62

Anhata: air element, associated with the number 54

Visudhi: ether element (think Hana Gitelman, Micah), associated with the number 72, and

Ajna: mind element (think Matt Parkman, The Haitian), associated with the number 64.

The numbers associated with the elements are said to be the number of cosmic 'rays' necessary to cause that element to invoke its cosmic involution. How many rays are there in total? 360. Like a circle. It's the universal sakti -- the number of creation.
|

Type of Pyramid
I think the type of pyramid (pointed top) is relevant as to whether it is Egyptian or not. Am I missing something?--MiamiVolts (talk) 20:00, 18 December 2007 (EST)

- Congrats and welcome aboard the patrollers group. :) Currently, there are still a large portion of my edits unpatrolled. If you don't see any, click the 30 day option and to hide patrolled edits. Then, click on the link for the diff (or the article itself if no diff). Click [mark this article as patrolled] if it's okay; or edit it and then mark it or vice versa.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:14, 9 February 2008 (EST)
- Damn, that is a lot. I may need to get a second mouse. :P --Hero!(talk)(contribs) 23:20, 9 February 2008 (EST)
- There's no rush especially on the older ones. Usually, though not always, mistakes with older edits are caught when people check out pages after more recent edits. Just make sure to examine each edit before patrolling it and to focus on more recent ones because that's where mistakes are more likely. (Admin 23:24, 9 February 2008 (EST))
- Is there way to permanently hide patrolled edits on Recent Changes? It's a bit annoying that I constantly have to click "Hide patrolled edits" every time I go back to recent changes. --Hero!(talk)(contribs) 23:26, 9 February 2008 (EST)
- I don't think so, no. Unless you bookmark the URL Ryan provided above and just use that to get to the recent changes each time. (Admin 23:28, 9 February 2008 (EST))
- Yeah, that's a good suggestion since there's no option in preferences to do that. Another option is to copy the link once you got the recent changes how you like them, then paste the url into your userpage. A toolbar link that displays a custom "Patrol changes" link only for administrators and patrollers group members is probably possible, not sure.--MiamiVolts (talk) 23:37, 9 February 2008 (EST)
- I use Firefox, which is a tabbed browser. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 08:32, 10 February 2008 (EST)
- It looks like you're getting the hang of patrolling. Do you have any questions about any of the shortcuts, tricks, and tips? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 22:38, 10 February 2008 (EST)

Hey, Heroe. As we approach the start of a new season and what promises to be a very busy time on the wiki, I suggested some tips for patrolling here. Check them out when you get a chance. Thanks! -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 20:57, 19 September 2008 (EDT)
When you revert, you need to say why
Especially if you are reverting on a theory page, where users may speculate. It is not appropriate to remove text just because you don't like the theory on a theory page. If you don't leave a comment as to why it just means editing wars.--Bradtem 22:09, 24 September 2008 (EDT)
