"The Civilian" is the fourth iStory volume.

The fourth iStory volume is called "The Civilian". It began being released after the sixth installment of the Rebellion graphic novel arc of Heroes.

Heroes Evolutions

In this iStory volume, each user is able to explore Rachel Mills's experiences as a civilian, trying to lead an ordinary life after the fall of Building 26. Each week contains one chapter of stories told from first-person point of view. Most of the chapters are told from Rachel's point of view. The stories are entirely text based with a button to choose an action at the bottom of each scene. No registration is required to participate.

Chapter 1: The Roommate
Release Date: 15 July 2009
Rachel Mills is trying to lead a normal life as a police officer in Lyneboro, Connecticut, rescuing kittens instead of fugitives. During a normal day on the job, Rachel receives numerous strange messages that lead her to a confrontation with former ally Crazy Tom. Tom explains that Rachel's mother, Leona, is in town and Rachel goes to meet with her. The women meet and Leona makes the surprising suggestion that they move in together to try and fix their broken relationship. Rachel accepts.
Chapter 2: The Neighbor
Release Date: 22 July 2009
A boy has gone missing and the town of Lyneboro is in shock. With her mother making friends with the neighbor, Rachel finds herself having to track down the missing boy all on her own. But when she does, she is confronted by a gang who desperately want to keep what they have done a secret. Rachel digs deeper and discovers that the boy's kidnapper is none other than his older brother Cooper, who claims he only wants to help Toby keep "his secret". Can Rachel save him?
Chapter 3: The Houseguest
Release Date: 29 July 2009
After Rachel comes back from a run, she catches one of Leona's rescues in her home and is confronted by her neighbor. She then heads into town and Chief Parker tells her to take it easy. Rachel decides to investigate the items in her Inbox and takes the camera to Tim's home to view the photos, which show a group gathered using abilities out in the woods. She also takes some keys to the school and finds a note regarding a night meeting in the town park she suspects has to do with the gang-related activity in the woods. While waiting for nightfall at Mable's Diner, she learns about their house guest and that Leona and Kelly don't get along. In the park that night, Rachel stops a battle from occurring between a local gang with abilities and a city gang that was going to meet them, then has a run-in with a familiar local. The next morning, Rachel dodges another attempt by her neighbor to ask her out, and agrees to help Leona's friend find his cousin.
Chapter 4: The Swimmer
Release Date: 4 August 2009
Following a strange dream, Rachel tries to help Mykah and Cole's cousin Amber. But all is not as it seems as the town of Lyneboro is rocked with newcomers. Rachel's search takes her to Chief Parker who lets slip his special research into the arrival of "special" people. Rachel's shocking dream becomes a reality as she comes across Alex Woolsly, who has come to Lyneboro to stop a Company agent who is photographing people using their extraordinary abilities. With these new scandals on her mind, Rachel continues her desperate search to find Amber, ultimately leading her to discover a possible murder case.
Chapter 5: The Cheerleader
Release Date: 11 Aug 2009
Rachel wakes up, after dozing off at the scene of multiple dead bodies that the bikers brought her to. After talking briefly with a state trooper, Rachel begins to piece together who is responsible for the deaths. In the midst of her investigation, Rachel encounters Claire Bennet and pieces together that her mother had arranged for Alex Woolsly and Claire to come to Lyneboro so she could resolve her issues with them. Claire and a friend then accompany Rachel. Together, they face off with the people responsible and force them out of town.
