Lizards
Hiro, garbed as Takezo Kensei, rides into a clearing to find Yaeko using her father's sword to defend herself against a number of swordsmen. She is doing well and even accuses them of not being worthy of the title Samurai, but it is obvious, due to their superior numbers, that they are toying with her. The leader tells Yaeko that he needs her father, but doesn't need her. Hiro, dressed as Takezo Kensei, calls out to the men demanding that they leave Yaeko alone. Hiro, as Kensei, defends Yaeko in the Battle of Twelve Swords. Yaeko, believing Hiro to be Takezo, thanks him. He asks her to ride back with him.
After some time, Hiro and Yaeko dismount and Yaeko apologizes to Hiro for thinking that Takezo had just left with their money. He promises to rescue Yaeko's father. She praises his honor and bravery. They enter a clearing filled with cherry blossoms. Yaeko comments on the beauty of the cherry blossoms but finds it odd that the tree is beautiful, but bears no fruit. She asks Hiro to take off his mask, and, though it is obvious that Hiro wishes to kiss her, he declines, saying that she "disarms him" and that his love for her will be legendary. After stopping time and taking off his mask, Hiro wistfully realizes that he should not kiss her even with time frozen. When time resumes, Hiro and Kensei's horse have disappeared, leaving Yaeko standing alone in the falling cherry blossoms.
Later, Yaeko enters the room where Hiro and Takezo converse, telling Kensei that he forgot his sword. She tells him that they must go rescue her father. Takezo asks Hiro to make him a hero so that he may seek more reward, but, as they exit, the men from earlier surround them in an ambush, shoot Takezo with three arrows and kidnap Yaeko.
