Bruno Coelho (AKA Biohazard) is a boy from Portugal who resides in the UK. He was sent to Level 6 at the age of 10. Shortly after escaping, he went to a desert in Nevada where he found an old hut. After nearly being recaptured, he discovered that he was actually born in America and that he is the biological son of Adam Monroe and Candice Willmer. At a young age, he discovered he could mimic the abilities of others. By the time he was 8, he had absorbed at least 40 abilities. When he was in a fight at the age of 9, he accidentally used his ability of acid secretion and burned a hole through the person he was fighting, leading his friends to nickname him "Biohazard". During an argument with a boy named William, he decided to break his neck as revenge for stealing his PlayStation 2 game and killed him. On his 10th birthday, he was bagged and tagged, then sent to Level 6 after being deemed the most dangerous evolved human. Two years later, when Elle disabled the security system on Level 5 (and, unknowingly, Level 6), Bruno escaped.

He flew back to his home in Sandhaven, only to find that his parents had moved away. Enraged, he accidentally blew up Sandhaven. Grieving the loss of his friends, he went to Aberdeen. When there, he tried to jump off a building. When he was about to hit the ground, his friend Damien Mackay flew in and saved him. They decided to work together to take down The Company and save their friend Craig Thom, who had been sent to Level 3 because of his dangerous ability.

When they infiltrated Primatech, they broke into Level 3 to break Craig out. When they released him, he told them that their other friend Calum Dickson was locked locked up in Level 2. When they were about to break him out, Noah Bennet showed up and tried to subdue them. Damien nearly killed him by dehydrating him. Noah shot Craig twice in the stomach. Just before Craig died, Bruno healed him. Bennet was about to kill Bruno, but Bruno threw a ball of fire at him, causing his suit to go on fire. Craig broke out Calum and the four boys escaped.

They visited Bruno's nephew, Sergio, who decided to help them take down the Company. The boys decided to split up into groups: Bruno, Sergio and Craig; Damien and Calum. While Bruno, Sergio and Craig infiltrated Primatech a second time, Sergio was shot and killed by The Haitian
