Gray is the son of a horologist who carried on his father's trade for several years before being approached for study by Dr. Chandra Suresh, who termed Gray his "patient zero." Under Dr. Suresh's inadvertent tutelage, Gray realized he had more than one anomalistic ability; in fact, he came to understand that he could absorb the abilities of others. The specific mechanism of acquiring these powers remain unclear, but we understand that it requires the removal of the victim's brain matter. Several hypotheses have been postulated regarding the precise manner in which Gray acquires abilities from his victims' brain matter, but until Gray is in our custody none of these theories are regarded as valid.
With the incorporation of new abilities into his genetic structure, Gray assumed the name Sylar and began killing individuals on Dr. Suresh's list of evolved humans.
Gray has to date killed three evolved humans that we know of, although the possibility of further, unknown victims exists. Agents have been dispatched to capture him, but Gray has proven elusive and this far our agents have been unable to even locate Gray despite their best efforts. Reports indicate that Gray is currently somewhere in California as his last murder occurred in Los Angeles.
Recently Company Agents encountered Gray in Albuqerque, NM. Despite the best efforts of Agent Thompson, Gray was able to murder his partner and escape.
The subject's overbearing mother originally forced upon him the notion that he was "special" and meant for more than his family's middle-class existence. When the subject failed to live up to her expectations, he fell into the family trade as a horologist and grew increasingly frustrated with his life.
When the subject first manifested his ability, he realized he could use it to fulfill his deep-seated desire to be "special" and thus prove his worth to his demanding mother. However, infusion of foreign DNA into the subject's genome has corrupted his mind and moral compass. The subject has begun to see himself as superior to average people, and this perceived superiority has caused him to believe that he has the moral authority to murder at will. The subject has become sociopathic and is singularly focused on gaining more abilities. This murderous obsession will compel him to seek out more victims. Extreme caution must be exercised if encountering this subject in any scenario.
