Talk:Season Five
Yuck
I don't like the volume name. I liked how they were doing it up until now: one word volumes. Now they have a volume name with three short words, and it's the same name as a season finale. I guess it fits, but they can't come up with something better? "Revelations" maybe. I don't know, I just hope this name doesn't stick... --Skullman1392 23:43, 8 February 2010 (EST)
- I like it. I think it's a good idea for NBC/the producers to really try and pull a CHANGE here- and the name infers that. I think they should do a 24 and lay off a lot of these characters and bring in a whole load of new people. New characters, new abilities, new in general. You look at the main cast for this last season, and I say that maybe 3 of them still have milage in their characters: Sylar (who is such a conflicted character any "freshening up" is feasible, like now), Peter (who has been on both sides of power and is even now finding his feet) and Samuel (who is still fresh, and a conflicted villain). Maybe, possibly Claire at a stretch. Nathan and Suresh we both know are gone, and I think Matt, Hiro, Ando, Angela, Tracy and even Noah have been exausted and "ran their courses" as characters. I'd personally off all of those and bring in fresh faces to stimulate new interest. IF they get the renewal that is...--Evil Maldini 13:08, 9 February 2010 (EST)
- Yeah, I think they've realised that some of the characters' storylines can only go so far, which is why for the ones like Tracy and Matt, we've been seeing less of them. I mean, for ages we all wondered where Mohinder was, yet lots of us "don't like him". But we still wanted to know what was up. The less we see, the more we want. If I were one of the writers, I'd advise a fresh cast, with the old cast as guest stars, and less importance in the storylines, with them all getting on with their lives, Sylar the "superman", Claire at college, Noah with the company, Tracy the X-men house, angela a retired life, matt a fatherhood etc etc, you get the picture. --mc_hammark 14:05, 9 February 2010 (EST)
- I actually disagree. Call my sentimental, but I’ve invested four years in these characters. To me, Heroes isn’t a television show about superpowers or action scenes (although I love those too); it’s always been a show chronicling the lives of profound characters. It’s not the characters who are run down, it’s the writers, unfortunately. Our characters are all we’ve got, at this point. I’m all for new characters, but don’t get rid of the old ones! I’m still mourning over the death of Isaac in the first season! --LynnDOLYN | talk 00:02, 10 February 2010 (EST)

- Skullman, your objection is the name? I don't really mind the name. In fact, I think it's quite nice. And it's not the first time that the name of volume has been the same as the name of an episode. In fact, there are three volumes that share names with episodes, and three that don't. And personally, I like the name of the volume--it's a nice reference to Claude's line in Company Man. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 10:04, 10 February 2010 (EST)
- If Brave New World were the name of a full episode within the volume, that's fine, its just weird that a season volume has its name because of the next volume. Does that make sense? I worded it kind of weird... Anyways, I think the name of it fits extremely nicely for what they plan to do with Volume Six, I just don't like the fact that we've had five one-worded volumes, and all of a sudden we have a three-worded one. I kinda feel like it's a tradition being broken... --Skullman1392 20:44, 10 February 2010 (EST)
- That's what I felt too, and there's always been that feel to it where it could read as the title of a book in the bible (I know Genesis is...) you know? --mc_hammark 20:47, 10 February 2010 (EST)
- You know, I didn't really think of it that way, but now that you mention it, I completely see that. --Skullman1392 21:02, 10 February 2010 (EST)

- Actually, this title suddenly makes a lot more sense to me. Samuel tried to create a brave new world by destroying New York City and bringing evolved humans into the limelight. When he was foiled, Claire actually did create a brave new world by revealing her ability to the world. Two distinct ideas, thus it makes sense to separate them. --Ricard Desi (t,c) 22:12, 10 February 2010 (EST)
- Just as a side note, it also could be referring to the Aldous Huxley novel Brave New World, and its themes. Not necessarily the story, but the idea of classes of people, cloning, and/or dystopia versus utopia. Just an opinion, but it could fit well I think. --Persephone 22:40, 10 February 2010 (EST)
- I'll admit I was a bit let down when Claire, seemingly for no other reason than to spite her father, just decided to jump off the ferris wheel to expose evolved humans. I've been racking my brain trying to figure out what they will do with this storyline, and it all seems to be coming back to all the alternate futures our heroes have time and again thwarted, or have they? Besides the Outbreak future, every future we've seen has EHs exposed, being rounded into interment camps or worse. Now the whole world knows about EHs including EHs that didn't know they have powers. Like Noah said, before long the "pickforks come out" and we get a massive polarization between people with abilities and people without. This time, instead of someone like Danko covertly hunting down EHs, half of whom have no idea what they are, it could turn into an all out war. I could see some really awesome ideas coming out of this. Picture an epic battle Lord Of The Rings style with specials on both sides (there's bound to be self-hating EHs out there), in-depth strategy using people with certain abilities to perform certain battlefield tasks, even allowing Peter to get his powers back, or at least be able to keep more than one at a time, because while before he was considered too powerful, the playing field would be a bit more even, especially if Sylar turns evil again. This would not only change the whole format of the show, giving much needed freshness, but would open the door for new characters, new abilities, and endless new possibilities. I know my idea is a total shot in the dark, but I can't see Heroes continuing successfully with the same format they've had, and I really don't want this show to end. Greg Grunberg seems to think that there'll be a new season. See here. Side note: Anyone else know he was in a band with Hugh Laurie?--PJDEP - Need further explanation? 00:08, 11 February 2010 (EST)

What are they going to do with sylar?
Personally... I think this:
with the S for Sylar. --Mc hammark
- Sylar is the best villian ever made in my oppinion, in season 4 (except Let It Bleed), they screwed him up real bad and I think that season 5 is just going to get worse. Sometimes Sylar was the only reason I watched Heroes.-- Yoshi | Talk | Contributions 11:14, 14 February 2010 (EST)
Volume 1: On his full potential
Volume 2: Kind of powerless (but wants to get his powers back)
Volume 3: He goes on a killing spree, but some emotions get involved
Volume 4: Still on a killing spree, but again there are some emotions getting involved
Volume 5: What can I say, he is Nathan Peterelli for a while, he wants to get rid of his powers, and is a hero?

If it's not renewed
Is there a chance that another channel may pick it up? Is anyone aware of the odds that there will be a new season?--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 01:20, 25 February 2010 (EST)
- Nothing yet. I wouldn't count on the show getting picked up by another station. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 02:21, 25 February 2010 (EST)
- With all the current things going on from the GNs to Hiro's blog, I say it's likely that they will pick it up another season. So I wouldn't worry. --OutbackZack 08:52, 25 February 2010 (EST)
- Yeah i think they are going to renew i mean if they didn't they would lose a lot of rates, i mean Southland was pick up by TNT if they didn't i could see Heroes going to a different channel
Jayma's husband's show replacing Heroes?
Day One starring Jayma Mays (Charlie Andrews) husband has been slotted to take Heroes time slot after the Winter Olympics in Canada. So does this mean Heroes is being replaced by Day One?--Blood69 21:13, 31 March 2010 (EDT)
- The more interesting connection is that Day One was created by Jesse Alexander. However, the fate of Heroes is not known. It's definitely not coming back this season, so it makes perfect sense that NBC would put something in that time slot. I would bet that NBC is looking to see how the ratings for Day One compare to the ratings for Heroes. But in the end, we'll just have to wait for an announcement from NBC about the fifth season. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 23:07, 1 April 2010 (EDT)
13
Anybody up for a possible 13 more episodes? -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 12:53, 23 April 2010 (EDT)
- I can roll with 13 :P Was kinda hoping it would land something closer to 18, but hey. If they can write an ending as tightly as they did for Season One, I'm happy. --Ricard Desi 14:48, 23 April 2010 (EDT)
- I guess it was too much to hope for a proper 100 episode count, but this is better than nothing, right?--PJDEP - Talk - Polls and Opinions 15:18, 23 April 2010 (EDT)
- Conventional wisdom (among non fans primarily) is that the show will be canceled. So if we even get a few more episodes, that to me is a victory. Still nothing official, though. We're waiting to hear something official from Angela Bromstad or somebody at NBC. -- RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 16:11, 23 April 2010 (EDT)
- If they know in advance, which they definately will do, then these final 13 episodes could actually be some of the best. Knowing that you're working to an end from the start is always a good thing in terms of pulling out all the stops in terms of finality. Not doing so makes things messy and uncertain which results in lacklustre filler product- just look at the first half of this final season of 24. So I very much hope this comes through, but as it was said, we'll just all have to wait with baited breath for May 17th.--Evil Maldini 15:34, 24 April 2010 (EDT)

Cancelled
Officially cancelled May 14.--Blood69 02:58, 15 May 2010 (EDT)
- It's sad, but it was bound to happen eventually. The production staff really seemed like they were phoning this season in, what with their complete disregard to established continuity.--Gibbeynator 11:59, 15 May 2010 (EDT)

Predictions
Here are my predictions of the plot points that would have happened if Heroes hadn't been cancelled:
- Peter and Emma begin a relationship.
- Ando and Kimiko marry.
- Noah must protect Claire from fame (paparazzi)/infamy (assasination attempts).
- Noah and Lauren begin some type of relationship before Lauren gets lost in time and space.
- In some form or another, The President returns and his name is revealed.
- Samuel returns as the villain.
- Sylar and/or Matt are sacrificed to save the day.
- Ando and Matt, Jr.'s abilities are combined for some purpose.
- Peter and Hiro save the world.
- This would have been the final season, and the finale would be titled Revelation.
